I recently had to have my high voltage battery pyro fuse replaced. Car is 7 years old and it was replaced under warranty. I took it to the Tesla service center in west LA, walked to Zankhou chicken, had lunch and received a text that the car was ready before I was done with lunch. Tesla service is MUCH better than it used to be.
Tesla is the only company I've ever heard of that wants to improve quality to the point you never need service. Elon: "the best service is no service." No legacy OEM will ever say that, for obvious reasons.
Cars will always need replacements of tires, filters, (perhaps cars can be made to monitor and adjust their own wheel alignment) -but at what cost? Cars will always need collision and paint repair, detailing for those who do not clean their cars, Loaner cars (gives a chance to drive a brand new car), AND maintaining a friendly relationship for repeat sales and used car sales. Perhaps accessories. Some dealers say they make more from used car sales. I think zero maintenance may well be a mistake. Since Tesla tries to make all parts in house, the margins should be substantial. Before the companies went nuts there were a substantial number of specialist Mercedes and BMW repair shops.
Hey Ryan, A short note on wheel alignment. We just bought a 2024 LRY. We love it. My son’s T3 which we leased from him was a simple tire eater. Costco wouldn’t sell us tires until we got it aligned. It was way off pay $700.00 for 2 new Michelins. Come now the new Y. Off to the alignment shop and a quick fix. The mechanic said it was the first car he ever aligned with 59 miles. Our new Y was in trouble. The right rear wheel was way off and the other 3 needed adjustment. Just a heads up for your viewers. Get your Tesla of any flavor aligned, save a Michelin or 2 or 3.
Never in the history of the world has a mechanical device never needed maintenance. Well… because that would break the laws of thermodynamics.
EV's have 1/3 the parts of ICE and are much more durable and longer lasting.
@@larryc1616 I own a Tesla. Elon says some stupid shit.
@larryc1616 even electric cars have power windows, locks, ac, seats etc
I mean that is overstating it, but point taken.
Really? The Law of Thermodynamics applies to heat transfer, not electric fields. You have to do maintenance on a Tesla Coil. No you don't. They have an indefinite lifespan. The A/C induction motor? Its fully encapsulated, will last for 1 Million Hours (500 years) and the longest lasting one has lasted for 127 year's with no maintenance.
I saw the newer model 3 outside of DC three days ago.
Always enjoy your videos
i saw a white wrapped cyber truck in la a few weeks ago
Starting to look like the roadster🤔
Will the over the air service put my bumper back on after I drive my new Tesla its first 20 miles?
I’m guessing the model 3 ludicrous is going to have a 2.5 second 0-60 time.
Hi Ryan! Great information to know about EVs. I'm an Uber driver ready for EV adoption how do I use your referral program? and I'm unsure whether the standard RWD Model Y would be better than an extended range AWD MY due to the 80% charge recommendation in the latter. What do you think?
They're cars, and they have physical parts that will need changing/updating from time to time. There is NO way around that.
The very small model range combined with the very low moving part count means the need for service is very low, that's the point. Service is not a profit centre. It makes a huge difference to the business model and the user experience.
The goal is to lengthen the time between service instances. If it can go from 1x every 2 years to 1x every 10 years, that is an enormous improvement and benefit to the consumer
Yes, but with some common sense, it’s the same concept as calling something “waterproof” when everything is only truly “water resistant.” So “no service” as the marketing tagline, but what they really mean is “almost no service,” as in “you’ll probably back your car into a pole before you need to get a regular service.” Ya feel?
@@randomtricksvideosgreat to example 👏🏽
Received 12.3 today. I have 40K miles on FSD and have been an early adopter, purchasing it 5 1/2 years ago with my performance model 3
Clearly a step change toward full self driving. Some noteworthy improvements.
1. Elimination of false moves into short passing lanes, elimination of movement to right lanes where inappropriate
2. Smooth natural trajectory / entry and exit through roundabouts. None of the false slowdown / tenuous behavior from prior versions
3. Improved natural progress thru u protected left turns
4. New ability to turn into driveway / final destination
5. Auto corrected for detection of incorrect left turn lane just prior to actual turn lane.
6. Improved visualization of unmarked two lane road and more accurate centering of vehicle within best approximated lane
7. Zero interventions
The only issue experienced is that the car consistently maintained a speed below the target speed. For example, held to 56 miles per hour then gradually to 59 but never achieved the 62 mile target speed as driver
Preference indicated (speed limit plus 7). Experienced same issue in 35
Mile per hour zone where desired speed is 39 but the car resisted and maintained 36 mph. I believe this may be a known issue and to be addressed in 12.3.1 due out this weekend.
He means no service within the warranty period not no service period lol
Specially BMW, as you out of BMW warranty here your service bill comes as big as your car price.
I agree. What is novel about this? He is just talking about increasing initial quality, that's it.
When you have bad service, say where it happened, don't trash the whole company! Tesla views warranty service as a part of manufacturing, so they can track deficiencies and make improvements. My 2020 Model Y taillights developed moisture problems after a year. Tesla mobile service replaced them in my driveway under warranty, and the replacement taillights have not developed moisture problems in almost 3 years.
I took a photo of a Black Cyber Truck this week in Portland, OR. It looked way better than the standard. Anyway I can send it?
My model x just replaced half shafts and now my upper control arms ball join is squeaking. Two major issues that Tesla knows about and they should be replaced for free. But they did give me a major discount for the half shafts but let’s see on the upper control arms.
I thought they had a forced government recall in Norway for those parts. Supposedly, Tesla has re-engineered those parts, but suspension parts continue to fail.
I experienced Ryan's comment today with our Pacifica PHEV. Other manufacturers WANT you to go into the dealer for service. It was a recall that required an over the air update. Had to take the van into the dealer and wait 15 minutes behind 20 vehicles in line for service (bad sign). 15 minutes after dropping off the car, my wife gets an email. "We're interested in purchasing your vehicle". They want to get your butt into the dealership so they can take a shot at selling you a new car!!!!
100% waiting for this new M3P this car looks and will be insane !! ⚡️😎
A lot of the initial service requests are due to poor QA on the vehicle itself, panel alignments, rattles, etc. Beyond that some parts are simply more prone to failure like the model X rear doors and the poorly designed front control arms. Fixing those bits would honestly prevent a lot of service requests.
If you truly want to eliminate service requests as much as possible its also not cheap they have to be willing to spend money on better part designs and materials to do it. On top of that batteries eventually fail, design the container to be more easily swapped or serviced, mass produce front and rear bumpers and panels for the car as they will be the most often replaced, make the hvac filters easier to replace IE don't have to take off panels to do it. There are lots of things that can be done without really needing someone to investigate.
Pretty obvious it was a door closing issue, not a bad panel gap. Fortunately easily fixed. Covered fairly here on this channel.
I recently purchased a fanttik electric screwdriver. This company makes very high quality, well engineered stuff.
I’m not a hater. I’m a lover. But gotta say, there won’t be zero service until they step up the QA. The latest is a strange rattle from the front end on my 2023 MYLR.
Ture, it won't ever be zero service, but Tesla can work towards it.
New 3 looks beefy. I like it.
How can you say that competition is coming when they are a decade behind $TSLA?
The model 3 performance needs to be easier to identify as the performance car similar to AMG MB. Tesla spent a lot of money starting Tesla company itself. Their vehicles were successful now they can have fun improving performance options and options inside like seats.
Can you replace the battery Vacuums once the battery wear out?
I was the one that spotted it. I’ve got an camo free pic on my X.
In the early 50’s and 70’s some companies made products that were indestructible but sadly they went out of business. Buying one product per family then never again is not good business practice. Nowadays certain parts of products are designed to need more frequent service than other areas. Whether hepta filters which most
Never replace as frequently as needed to wiper blades, led lights, etc. most gas cars recommend yearly service checkups, software updates, and oil changes. My 2017 Model X, bought new, has never visited a service center. Only maintenance has been tires. I did have the brake fluid flushed once as it’s recommended every 2 years in gas cars as water always makes it way into hydraulic fluid. Long story short, less service or less frequent service is the future. My Ducati motorcycle has 12,000 mile service intervals. My Honda motorcycle requires 4000 mile service intervals. My Acura MDX requires oil changes every 7500 miles because of the turbos even though using synthetic oil. My BMW with turbos require oil changes every 15,000 miles or until the service light illuminates. Lots of definitions of service intervals. I do not mind taking my car in every couple years or so to make sure I can prevent a problem. I am a physician and pilot. Preventive maintenance is less expensive than after the fact problem.
9:31 pronounced see Air Ah
so when you need service do they provide a loaner?
Ya. A Pinto.
Satin black is sooooo nice in person. I wish it shipped with that
Great video as always, Ryan!
Glad you enjoyed it!
It's strange that they use the word "Ludicrous". The new badge is NOT that and is a standard light speed image. Ludicrous comes from the movie Spaceballs and is differentiated with the square plaid image we already know.
Wow... Good luck in that seemingly impossible role.
What is your best guess on pricing? I know we'll know soon enough, but love speculating. Is it even possible with so much more performance, that they can keep it under $55K to allow us consumers to take advantage of the tax credits? My gut feeling is no, but what are yours?
$57k-60k without options.
@@Jtaugner agreed, I'm thinking $60K+...
The no service idea is broken on a fundamental level. Let's look at the obvious wear items. Brakes, tires, window mechanisms, door handle mechanisms, seat mechanisms, seat heaters, cameras, all lights, any small DC motors not related to propulsion, transmission mechanicals, drive motors. Heck, just the review/sideview mirrors themselves. How many people have needed the door handles replaced on a Tesla product? The more high-tech the car becomes, the more minor electrical glitches can propagate.
You started with brakes lmfaoooothats the wrong one to start with 😂😂
The "zero service" mantra is an excellent goal but my Model X experience is that pretty much all problems have been either sensor or software issues. I live in Utah and my closest service center is over 2 hours away in Las Vegas. I have had quite a few problems, mostly intermittent, and mostly quirky things. Tesla really needs more software-related and remote service, which seems like it could be relatively easy to provide, but it isn't. I have a long list of mostly intermittent issues that that don't go away, and are evidently difficult for Tesla to correct because the list just gets longer and longer. Having been a software engineer for about 40 years, I understand the problem pretty well, but I have no idea how to address it. And I don't think Tesla does either. I wish I could help but mostly I can only complain. Sorry Tesla. Really.
Ryan, how long does it normally take for Tesla vehicle prices to fall after their initial release?
Battery factories must be built USA to make USA vehicles affordable
is that why Tesla always claims theres nothing wrong with your car, even if there is.
Saw 3 Tesla semi going up i80 toward Donner pass probably going to Sparks, NV, a couple weeks ago.
Tesla needs to improve the manufacturing process to eliminate the need to replace the tail lights due to water intrusion.
@@linemanap nah. I just had to replace my passenger side tail light. So obviously, that QC did not happen.
The Tesla Service experience has always been indistinguishable from hell itself.
all my friends with Teslas have had good experiences with Tesla service
@@saulto Then I guess the difference between our positions is that mine is first hand and not just hearsay.
I don't considered my friends experiences hearsay
I've mostly had terrible experience with Tesla for the past few years. I also don't think either of you knows what hearsay is.
Hearsay is rumors from sources who you dont know if you can trust. I trust my friends of over 30 years. Two have model Ys, one has a model 3 and the other has a model X
The USA will change greatly in the future. Riding a wave of prosperity after WW2 which now is slowing down. Supersizing becoming downsizing as costs have skyrocketed from homes, cars, and everything else. High inflation, high interest rates, and high debt loads placing a damper on many people. 2 expensive car payments for work vehicles with not much left over for housing and food. Less vehicles, more Uber, and eventually robotaxi’s.
Bro stop repeating information, don’t be like that! You have talked about the M3 performance many times! Idk how many time I have hear you saying that “ a M3 performance was spotted in Spain”
They all need 300+miles of range for any mainstream new ev
I do fine with my car's 272 miles of range, even in some fairly remote parts of Colorado and New Mexico. I've never had to go more than 183 miles between fast chargers, and even then there was a nearby alternative route that would have cut that about in half with another charger in the middle.
My wife just won't consider anything with under 300 miles of range. A friend rented a small Mercedes ev to travel to Savanah, GA. The trip was a complete nightmare
My 2016 Kia Forte cost 16k gets 400 miles on a full tank that I can fill up any corner in 5 min. It has 50k and all I have done is change tires once for 300 bucs and 5 oil changes at 27 bucs a pop. not one hickup.
But it’s a Kia Forte. Also not as much fun to drive as a Tesla.
@@NeverStopLearningMan The OP was comparing how much more cost effective it is than any Tesla by comparison. Fun to drive is subjective, I’m sure a Tesla could be fun to drive but my economy car is still loads fun to drive and will last longer than most Tesla owners keep their car.
Wow ❤
I will... cautiously applaud the idea of trying to design cars that last so well they need no service.
They won't succeed, but miss the moon and you'll still land among the stars... right?
Reaching max peak power at higher speeds (68mph) instead of lower speeds (46mph) doesn’t make a better track car neither improve 0-60mph times. Tesla cars don’t suffer of traction like gas vehicles. Their electric motors can be power modulated and go 100%-0% and 0%-100% in milliseconds. Reason why you never heard a Plaid (1000hp) screaming its tires at full torque 0-60 or quarter mile. Even Elon explain it on an interview.
Mobile service would handle the door adjustment. No need to take it in.
"At Telsa, we believe the best service is no service." Yes, I can attest to that. When we picked up our car, we had idiot lights galore but were told that "Nobody has ever complained about anything" and they basically pretended like our problem didn't exist until we threatened to cancel the sale. The service manager came in from home on a holiday to fix the problem, and found that multiple plastic hardware covers had not been removed prior to delivery and had melted into the wheel hubs.
The manager was great, but they need to hire someone from the hospitality realm to retrain their customer-facing employees.
im buying soon. how do i know if there are problems?
Let’s not bash an OEM for wanting to reduce service visits as much as possible. They know that stuff will happen and the need will be there eventually. Most OEMs hire people to get you in for service as much as possible and here some people are bashing for this OEM wanting to change for the better. You people don’t want help. Stay miserable!
"All new" "Refreshed" "Better" "Faster" "Redesigned" been hearing this from auto manufacturers for decades. Shouldn't be necessary if the first ones were all that.
It doesn't look insane. It looks like a model 3.
Working toward"zero service" is different than declaring zero service. Examining mean-time-to-fail in order to improve product reliability is a worthy endeavor.
not much opinion here…
but lots of EV “OTHERS”… and just more of their BIG PROMISES
looks pretty not insane to me.
Can you do a video of the price tag on this Ludicrous model 3? It's in the coding but I can't see it cause the code is cut off.
60-65K
the model 3 ludicrous is looking like a really attractive car now. I'd love to buy one in the future
The five-minute fix is most likely accomplished by a mobile service vehicle that will service the truck in his driveway or where he parks it for work. My experience has been that the service is zero lost time for the owner for a repair like this.
Rather have a blinker stalk with wiper control the the carbon fiber.
And they should include the blinker fluid. 😅
NOOOO BUT THE TABLET AND HAPTIC BUTTON CAN DO IT IT WILL NEVER FAIL I SWEAR!
No idea who the celebs are. Own a couple teslas. I hope that pays off for tesla.
V12 is amazing minus the ability to run the speed on the scroll.
Don’t get your hopes up Ryan. Zero Service departments real mission is to help save the company money by trying to identify whether customers really “need service” or not. To help cut down on how much interaction the real service team does so they can focus on fixing cars.
My brand new Y has been into service 4 times in as many months and now it’s going in for a 5th. Tesla can’t put together a car, they just can’t, they’re not able to.
I have Model Y Performance from 2.6 year, never been a single service. 31k miles. Near future needs back side Tyres which I will do from Costco.
@@bbalila is that possible? Maybe. Is that the experience myself, any of my family member or friends had? Absolutely not. Count your blessings I guess, that’s not a common occurrence with Tesla vehicles.
@@idonotcarenow Have no clue what your family and friends are doing to the cars. My 2020 Model S was only in service once to fix a loose interior panel. The Y we bought last year has been perfect so far. Judging from the comments I see from other owners, the newer Y and 3 have good build quality.
Yea OK! Oh but wait why has my model S 2018 67k miles or my model 3 not had a service yet? Maybe Tesla can build cars!
@@ymcpa73 they are the same people that came from Toyota’s with no issues, I don’t know what to tell you, I can only speak from experiences.
Why are you making that 5 minute fix so cumbersome when tesla will most likely come to him and fix it? He just needs to book the appointment and that is it. No need to be present, Tesla will open the vehicle door themselves.
It’s been a nightmare for me on my 2023 Y, water leaks inside and back of the car and bad ECU and defective rear motor, seems like it will need front motor replaced only 12k miles and issues started from mile 3 since I took delivery 😢
😢😢😢
Tesla wants to be largest battery manufacturer in USA. China’s CATL world’s largest battery manufacturer. Most Tesla’s competitors buy expensive 3rd battery batteries from China and Korea. Ford, GM, and Stellantis forgot to build battery factories
The Semi would have to be redesigned for the European Market. In Europe the maximum length of the Truck includes the cab and trailer. In North America the maximum length is just the Trailer. That's why all European trucks are the cab over design whereas in North America generally long nosed designs are used.
Not enough semi's for Europe so no redesign. We need them all here🇺🇸
If Tesla wants to increase reliability they could focus on making “bombproof” bearings. The failure of a bearing set in the electric motors, right down to wheel bearing failure are a couple high dollar repairs. I just changed the wheel bearing on a 2017 Forester with low miles. 80-120k wheel bearing failure is common to many cars.
The New Sport Model 3 looks like a Toyota Prius 😂
At least they are making an effort to
Service is Horrible in Palm Springs. Customer service is going to be the downfall of Tesla. I have had two MSP.
Expect a May release for the Model 3 Performance.
Well done video.....as a Tesla owner for 5 years and a shareholder I believe they're seriously misguided with the notion of finagling things to reduce customer service. Good customer service has always been a hallmark of any successful business. And Tesla cars do occasionally require service at real Service centres.....they need to beef up service not cut, especially as they continue to sell more vehicles....
I dont get why they keep advertising this truck through celebrities so much when they cant even make enough of them for the initial reservation holders
@@linemanapNo doubt they love Tesla. But do you think all of these celebrities placed an order just when the truck was announced like the the rest of the people who are getting their Cybertrucks now? I doubt that. They’re getting special treatment for sure like he said.
No mobile service to fix the CyberTruck door gap? There should be.
The foundation series is a ripoff. Regular customers should wait for regular prices.
Getting Model 3 RWD to qualify for Federal incentives will already have the $25K EV. That would be easier.
Ripoff? You're paying for early access, which gives you early business opportunities. Tesla will always charge what people are willing to pay, and would you look at that, there's a lineup for foundation series.
Used Tesla prices have dropped something like 20 months in a row, because Tesla keeps dropping prices on 3/Y/S/X. Why? Because they saturated the market of people willing to pay more, and they value unit sales over profit.
@@paulm6737What business opportunities? You’re not supposed to sell it or you’ll get blacklisted. If you get your $20K back from selling it, that’s a good thing, but you already spent $120K. Used Teslas face depreciation like any other car. What’s so unique about it? You can find luxury cars that costs $100K that are now selling for less than $30K ten years later.
You're right. There's no business opportunity surrounding a product that turns every head it passes. Good chat.
@@paulm6737 Is that what you mean by business opportunities? Tesla benefits, not you the consumer. Tesla gets your extra $20K too.

Neither am i going to enumerate potential business cases for owning a ct, but anyone who benefits or profits from other people noticing them would do well to own a ct.
Those two points alone explain the price premium. Either it is paid to Tesla, or it is paid to scalpers.
Just torque it yourself, less than 5 minute fix!
Jim Munro should apply for Tesla's new job position. I wish Tesla could fix the seal of the door windows. Mine have been adjusted at least 5 times, but the problem keeps happening.
11:01 is one hell of photo. but goddamn it trips my OCD sensors.
Smart design decisions reduce likelihood of needing service. An example of Tesla **not** doing this is the overly complicated way the doors open and close on the Model Y, which requires the windows to go up and down with each swing of the door. WTF. This morning, closing my rear passenger door in the cold felt like the seat belt buckle was stuck in the door frame opening, but no it was the window not going down slightly to clear the door frame.

I wonder when total Cybertrucks produced will overtake F150 ⚡? Also when will they overtake Rivian?
Saying no erviceis going against god. Nothing stays forever but forever.
Who still goes to service center? Tesla mobile service has come out my last 3-4 services calls.
& speaking of CT cells, mobile tech told me he saw 3 CT come in for full battery replacement. This was couple of months ago. Maybe anecdotal.
I've had three service center trips for my 2016 Model S (which I bought used from Tesla in 2019), once to replace the MCU and swap a recalled airbag, once to replace the VCM and steering rack and fix a door handle, and once to replace the high-voltage pyro-fuse. The other five visits (12 volt battery and various door/trunk latches) have been mobile service. All under warrantee, thank goodness. 🙂
LMAO Teslas look exactly the same since 15 years... not interested.
You can just “get into it” without preamble, theme music or permission. Ask Nike!
Diving there? No they drive to you LMFAO. It can be done while you're sleeping.
Most people don't live close enough to be eligible for Tesla Mobile Service.
Tsunami of Chinese EV’s hitting Europe shores almost 30% less expensive than European EV’s. Better batteries and software. China building plants in Mexico like ford and GM to enter USA under NAFTA thereby dodging Trump era 25% tax tariff on Chinese’s cars. BYD makes some great EV’s substantially cheaper than USA brands. Interesting people unable to afford an average new car price of $48,000. They are buying gas sedans from Honda, Toyota, and Nissan as less than $30,000. Big 3 do not build sedans as not profitable
They work on getting the "ludicrous" Model 3, a car few want and nobody needs, out the door right now, but the $25,000 EVs people really need are always three years away. It's like chasing a mirage.
Ask yourself which one will pay for the dev of tho other one ?
This channel usually late by a week or two with news…
I’m sorry but it’s delusional to have a “no service” car. These things move through time and space. Things wear out stuff wears down. No service vehicles are impossible. Good luck to whoever takes that job.
Now You Know was one of the earliest purchases of a Cybertruck at the unveiling. But despite being a well known influence and information producer online have yet to receive their Cybertruck. Could this be because they always present both the good and the bad in their videos? The have roughly 335,000 subscribers.
Carbon fiber looks nicer than wood
I hope there is no carbon fiber trim on the 3 Lud. I have never liked that look.
Lmao why are they working on no service? They already offer zero service
A car will alwayssss need service
