I hear you Mike. The truth is, the last two countries we have visited (DR and Panama) are more expensive so we haven't been able to find cheaper stuff. But people are interested in Panama so we are exploring it even though we will probably be breaking our $1500 USD goals for 2 people in almost every town we have seen so far. Sorry about that.
A pension of 1,000 dollars or euros every month is similar to that in Germany. $ 400 rent is then too high. Then the girl has to have at least $ 1,000 income each month.
Dan, a beautiful video as always. I know that the information on entry requirements can change all the time, but it would be very helpful if you would describe your experience as of the time of your arrival. However beautiful the scenery and delicious the food, as a practical matter everything depends on whether or not it is easy to get there. As you know, there are some very beautiful countries describing themselves as ''open'' but making visitors jump through hoops if they want to be there. Lately, Panama has been changing around a variety of other rules not related to the pandemic. Can you perhaps rate the hassle factor to enter when you go places these days?

What are the requirements for entering Panama? Negative Covid test within previous 3 days? Visa upon arrival? How many months can a tourist stay? Thanks for your channel and answers.
Yes. When we entered they wanted vaccine and negative antigen test. Then they changed it to antigen without vaccine. Now there is a list of countries (USA) included that need negative test but will have to quarantine for 72 hours. Rules change constantly. We are vaccinated so we don't need to quarantine. igopanama.com/covid-entry-requirements/

Hi! I am a veteran with 100% disability. That is roughly 3200 a month. Im not retired by any means, I am 29 :) but I am looking for a change! I dont think id be able to get a job there so would the disability be enough to live somewhat comfortably? Also I have 2 big dogs! Thanks in advance
I would be concerned about opting to retire in a region at high risk from coastal, riverine & urban flooding, as well as earthquake, volcanic & wildfire threats, & even tsunami inundation. Idyllic 95% of the time maybe, but not sure about escape routes in time of crisis !
Don't worry, it's 2021 with satellite weather predictions and wildfire monitoring. I experienced the 1976 Guatemalan earthquke that killed 23,000 very sweet people. Avoid places with those huge thigh-curved tiles, they turn into missiles as you flee the quaking building. Social unrest? True friends who care about you will pull you aside and say "It might be better if you say you are Canadian" if you come from USA.
Some people watch videos of tropical paradise and think about disaster escape routes ... Jeez California has wildfires n earthquakes. Louisiana and Florida have hurricanes. Tornados in tornado alley. Noreasters in New England. Blizzards and ice storms in nothern latitudes.
It is okay to read and ask questions until you are satisfied. But don't be surprised in the end when it turns out most of your fears about being outside the area where you grew up are not any more dangerous than where you live now. Travel is the greatest education in the world.
@@VagabondAwake you have a good channel, providing a useful insight into tourist/expat ventures. I think you are self indulgent, but it's not a ctiticism because life is such a perplexing smorgasbord, & who is qualified to judge anyhow?
Mosquitoes and / or other biting insects? My lady seems to attract them for miles around, must be her fairy blood. She had a tough time in Thailand with all the mosquitoes.
She might want to buy some of those mosquito clothes so she doesn't have to wear deet all over the world! Honestly, I don't remember alot of mosquitos when we were there, but they can be seasonal.

Where can I get the info to travel from the US to Bocas? Do we have to fly into Panama city or is there a airport closer? If we have to go into Panama City how do we travel to Bocas?
Use use Skyscanner when we are flying anywhere. If you are touring Panama like we are, you can get buses to Bocas Del Toro. Check out Rome to Rio to see the various ways you can get to Bocas Town. www.rome2rio.com/
I could live fat and happy with that kind of cheese there. :-)
Nice what were the restrictions for Panama masks etc?
Everyone seems to be wearing a mask here. The rules change, but when we flew in they wanted vaccine proof and negative antigen test.
@@VagabondAwake Thx for the info too much b.s. for me 😆
Omg your lucky the dog didn't bite you
He was friendly.
U should not live like this of u live in fear.
Are these place your renting, furnished? Please let us know.
Hi Chris, Yes, we don't bring furniture with us. We only rent furnished. Thank you, Dan
Dan, yr video and filming skills, moving here and there is difficult to watch. Pl take note.
Thanks again for your input Pauline. Sorry about that.
@@VagabondAwake Dan, i m watching yr Nha Trang video now and pl see wat i mean. At abt the 12 min mark, u are giving me a severe headache with all the camera panning and too fast in the local market. This really downgrades yr video quality. Pl pl take note. I hope u can improve, i am rooting for u. Thanks
Gotta love the suicide showers in those.. same as I had in Nicaragua.. always make someone else try it first..
Funny. I saw my first one in Nicaragua too.
Did you go to turkey yet?
Yes. I think it was in 2009. Log before I staretd this channel. But we will go again soon. Loved it.
Where do they have bathrooms in these locations?!

@@VagabondAwake ok..i thought I'd seen your blog in the philippines, then Mexico, now Panama. Love your traveling blogs, I wanna be like you guys one day🤗
Wouldn't pay more than 300 a month for it.
You can probably get long term unfurnished around there for that.
$400 wow really?
Yes. Including wifi, electric, gas, and AC.
@@VagabondAwake incredible
JAJAJAJAJA gringo prices
Thanks for sharing Carlos. :-)
How long have you been traveling? lol
You don't know why they say it's dangerous and you are the only tourists... It's because they want a place of there own without tourists taking it over. But then..... Here comes a TH-camr. lol Will be loaded and lame in no time.
I think tourists are welcome if there are hotels, and restaurants, Airbnb, menus in English, tour guides, tour boats and buses, souvenir shops.
What fraction of Panama's economy is tourism? 15%
How many American expats live in Panama? 20-30,000.
Bocas is not an undiscovered place. The town has lived on tourism for 20 years.
