@@VagabondAwake I'm impressed that you responded to my question with the amount of questions you probably receive daily. That's quite a detailed packing list. People as organized as you are very rare; amazing!
Thanks, Dan, for the good information. Besides the visa, there is another issue: the customer knowledge requirements of banks and brokers. Where did you deposit your shares? I spoke to Interactive Brokers: they told me that they require a permanent residential address and a corresponding consumption bill (electricity, internet, telephone). That's one of the bigger challenges keeping me still at home at the moment. Thank you.
Some people use private mail receiving, others use family addresses. Like Prika said, i set mone up before I left and then switched all of my accounts to paperless and they have never audited me (yet). But I do go back to the states once every 2 or 3 years for a month or two and stay in my 4plex. If need be, I could do this sort of maintenance then. Get my free ebook. I talk about much of this. Go to vagabondbuddha.com.
In traveling the world every year for 15 years before the pandemic I found I needed a Chinese Visa good for 10 years an Indian Visa good for 10 years a Brazilian Visa. Russia permitted Visa exemption s if you booked a Russian tour. You could save your old passport s and use these visas. The rest of the world you could either get stamped tourists visas complimentary or in worst case pay a fee on arrival. I was able to take a train to the Ukraine via Poland Romania and Bulgaria.

Hi Marty. Me too. I have 10 year visas in for both China and India. I am not the biggest fan of cruising although I have only done it twice. Something about being in a big piece of metal that makes me feel I am too far from the earth. Plus I get sea sick sometimes.

My goal is Central and South America, but I'm not sure what countries or cities to avoid. I've been throughout the Caribbean, Panama and Colombia already. Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.
I would just put this countries in a linear path and go at it. So you aren't doubling back as much. Travel on land as much as possible to save money and really see what the countries are like. I talk about that a bit here: Slow Travel World Highway: vagabondbuddha.com/top-4-reasons-cheap-world-travel-is-possible-now/
Great information, however - I do have some comments/questions; 1- There are different styles of retirement. I know that you really enjoy traveling but some retirees, especially older ones, prefer to settle down in one place and not move around every few months . Those ones - do need some kind of long term residency permits. The other question is - you mention that you are American and has a privileged passport, may I ask what passport does your g/f has ? I mean, such traveling requires both of you to have 1st class passports. To the best of my knowledge, many western male expats have 3rd world g/f. Still, great show and great info.

It is for two, and it does not include traveling cost. With traveling cost, it is ~1,700 per month, but you have to have a reserve fund to cover at least 1 year. Dan covered this topic in one of his earlier vblogs.
We are not able to maintain $1500 in every country, but it is for 2 people. Right now it will cost more because some countries are closed and others are not allowing land border crossings, so you will need to fly more.

Hello Dan, hey have you ever done a video on countries and their tax implications? I ask because I'm considering retiring in either Colombia and Costa Rica. Colombia has the global tax system and Costa Rica does not. I'm wondering how much this tax break in Costa Rica will effect me. You ever research this topic?
Thank you Don Corbin! I am a long-term tourist traveling the world. I have not done the research on this because a rolling stone gathers no moss. But there are a bunch of people that specialize in this topic online. But talk to a professional before making a decision. :-) Thanks for watching and commenting. :-) Dan
The visual quality of your videos has gone way up from your additional editing. Your information content has been and still is the best! Great job. Happy Trails
My concern is going to countries that may require a vaccine; not everyone wants this. Plus, some countries require you to lave if you want to apply for a retirement visa.
ALBANIA gives citizens of the United States up to one year, then move through the next countries to the Ukraine; and finish your trip in the Caucasus country of Georgia, with a bus trip to Armenia!
Try visiting the USA as a foreigner.. most of these visas are there, because they are reciprocal due to American policies.. maybe you should use your citizenship to affect your own nations behaviour regarding visa policies and prices... And have a quick look at how welcoming US embassies are around the world. Regards a dual nationality Norwegian/Frenchman.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I am well aware. The USA makes it hard for many less wealthy countries to enter. Many of my friends are unable to even visit the USA.
@@VagabondAwake just a thought. As the USA is the most unpleasant and convoluted country I have visited, in regards to these issues (possibly on a par with Canada). I appreciate your videos and the great spectrum you are able to present. Just a quick response to the feelings you expressed at the beginning of the video. I think retirement on a tourist visa is a good solution, as long as you know you won't be a burden on the welcoming nation. Lots of things to consider for us potential retirees, but it's great that anything more than a tourist visa is not needed, if you have all your bases covered. The US and the EU are probably not the best in class, if you have issues with paying for the privilege of being a visitor for an extended period (but then again, it's only the really privileged that can even consider this as an option) Most countries can't be said to run visa programmes for profit, or to inconvenience anyone. I hope to follow your example from next year, and follow you for the good range of experiences you are presenting 👍(Philippines having popped up on my radar, and Cebu airport probably going to be seeing me next year 😉)
You have retirement on the plus side with your Asian Beauty, the Malaysian Cutie. I guess it is your duty. In Malaysia I know Yudi a Cutie who is single and is a beauty. Then there is Spore that has an open door, need I say more? Most speak English and some speak Chinglish with expressions that will leave many impressions. You have laid it out for us to explore and you are with the one you adore.
@@alucardcount9478 I can tell you that Malaysia is a place that will open up your eyes to so much beauty. Go there when it opens up and meet as many people as you can. Dress well and go to theaters and concerts. Stay at the Majestic Hotel. Go online and look up Malacca. If Dan has a book on Malaysia get it, it is a must. Visit the Petronas Towers. If you send me you email I will tell you more. Remember though Dan and Qiang can give you much info that will be a big help. I first went to Malaysia in 95 and could not believe my eyes. Thanks Dan! I'm curious about how much stuff you bring with you as you travel. One large suitcase? Do you travel with clothing suitable for both warm and cool weather, or just stay in warm weather climates? Gear for video production, snorkeling, personal items?
Here is my packing list Ben. vagabondbuddha.com/what-i-pack-to-travel-the-world/
@@VagabondAwake I'm impressed that you responded to my question with the amount of questions you probably receive daily.
Thank you.
Give them whatever you have now, and ask only for electronic reports. They are not going to audit you.
Great video
Thank you Lost!
Thankyou for the great advice kids
You are welcome Bruce Tattrie. Thanks for commenting. You are helping our channel grow. Dan
Another good one. I think we went to that same beach "Near Hoi An"!

@@coastcity7029 That's the one - thanks!
Good guess!
Do you have any information on Travel vaccinations since you travel to a number of countries
Panama is vaccinating foreigners even.
Thanks for that timely bit of information. Have you started back traveling again?
@@tracystjohn1957 No I think it is too much of a health risk and hassle. Planning on living on residential cruise ship traveling the world similar to all the world cruises I have worked in the past
Hi Marty. Me too. I have 10 year visas in for both China and India. I am not the biggest fan of cruising although I have only done it twice. Something about being in a big piece of metal that makes me feel I am too far from the earth. Plus I get sea sick sometimes.
@@VagabondAwake Pre cruising I also had taken a bus from NYC to Fairbanks Alaska a train from Rome to the North cape and back living in Hawaii had an unlimited airline ticket to fly to California for 7 years. Also lived in Philippines for several months. Cruising gave me a chance to revisit most of the places you show in the background on your videos. You bring back old memories
Dan , why you didn’t go to Nicaragua??
I love Nicaragua, especially Granada and Little Corn Island.
Can you make up an itinerary for a person who would like to travel for a couple of years. I'd love to see it. I may start my trek next year or 2023.
I talk about that a bit here: Slow Travel World Highway: vagabondbuddha.com/top-4-reasons-cheap-world-travel-is-possible-now/
Terrific video!
Thank you!
I explain that here. vagabondbuddha.com/best-countries-to-find-love-in-retirement/
Did you ever have a problem with needing a return ticket?
Good to see you both are well, and traveling despite the pandemic.

Hello my name is Al
Thank you for your informative videos.
I heard you saying you travelled to Malaysia, even during covid restrictions.
Would you be kind enough to advise how can I travel to Malaysia on November/December 2021
Thank you
I was in Malaysia when the world learned about the virus before Malaysia locked down. I was in the Philippines when the world started locking down.

thank you

How do you find affordable lodging for your different stay periods?
Here is how I do that: vagabondbuddha.com/how-i-find-perfect-apartments-traveling-the-world/
Very interesting idea!! But…. How do you pack for a journey of multiple years?
Good question! Here: vagabondbuddha.com/what-i-pack-to-travel-the-world/
Dan, is that $1500 for two and does it include travel cost or is that separate?
It is for two, and it does not include traveling cost. With traveling cost, it is ~1,700 per month, but you have to have a reserve fund to cover at least 1 year. Dan covered this topic in one of his earlier vblogs.
@@prika2000 thanks!
@@Antandthegrasshopper you are welcome 😊
@@prika2000 While true, it will not be true ten years from now. Remember inflation. Also cost of medical goes up way faster than inflation.
We are not able to maintain $1500 in every country, but it is for 2 people. Right now it will cost more because some countries are closed and others are not allowing land border crossings, so you will need to fly more.
I prefer visiting countries where i can stay for three months that i can rent a house or a room on the monthly basis.
Great point. It makes such a difference. The lower long term rates.
@@VagabondAwake I am trying to find a couple of bases that I can always comeback in the future. I am thinking about Penang, bocas de toro, and beach front in the Philippines. My budget is no more than 500 dollars per month. BTW, I am a solo traveler. I love to live somewhere tropical near the beach. A bedroom with a bath will be preferable. Thanks,
Thank you
Do you have a vid or a website for a travel kit....

Are there entry restrictions for the Philippines right now? I'll probably have to get a business visa to exit Australia.
Yes. It is still closed to torurists.
where did you meet your girl, I see in all the videos?
Malaysia!
Dan, what countries can I go to without taking a jab?

Thanks Randy!
do you pay taxes?
Yes. I file and pay only in the USA every year.
My concern is going to countries that may require a vaccine; not everyone wants this. Plus, some countries require you to lave if you want to apply for a retirement visa.
Only time will tell how this plays out. Thank you Mel Isherwood! Thanks for watching and commenting. :-) Dan
Albania is now 90 Days
Thanks for sharing.
Great video, thanks. Just wonder how your girlfriend travels with you if she is not an american passport holder.
Good question! I explain that here: vagabondbuddha.com/best-countries-to-find-love-in-retirement/
Where did you find the girl?
Malaysia in 2016. We met on Tinder.
Since you've been places, could you tell where you've seen slimmest girls?
Almost all of SE Asia still eats healthy food and the portions are smaller.
ALBANIA gives citizens of the United States up to one year, then move through the next countries to the Ukraine; and finish your trip in the Caucasus country of Georgia, with a bus trip to Armenia!
You are reading my mind. :-)
I hope to follow your example from next year, and follow you for the good range of experiences you are presenting 👍(Philippines having popped up on my radar, and Cebu airport probably going to be seeing me next year 😉)
Sounds Easy !!! LOL !!!
It is a lot of work traveling so much. Luckily Qiang is great at logistics. I am blessed Master G.
This is gospel
Look at many of the videos that Dan has on Malaysia, you can not see enough. I would ask Dan how far to go back. I know he has one on the Batu caves there in KL and much, much more. Enough for now.

It is true. Bears love honey. Smart bears get to eat more honey.
Now you are going to need a vaccine passport !
Getty up. We have them already.
I didn’t know that there was any country which allows foreign tourists to bring guns into their country. What country would allow that? 🤔
Several western countries. But you have to declare it and check it.
Yes but that was pre 2020. Now you're subjecting yourself to graphene up your nose and who knows what else jabbed into you. But thanks for the video.
