As I speak a little Spanish but I know if I was living there it would be much improved as I remember more and more. This budget is the high end I am sure I could reduce the costs by $500 PCM and do it for a $1000.00 PCM but I don't want to be living worrying about money on this budget I know I will be able to live like a prince, not a king haha. It looks like you absolutely need a car in Boquete. How much is a car rental there? And is it true that folks on a tourist visa can only drive legally in Panama for the first 90 days of a stay in the country? In SE Asia we usually rented 125cc motorbikes. Is that done in Panama? Much easier to get around on the motorbike than a car in SE Asia.
I may spend a few months in Boquete, Panamá after I retire. Once I'm comfortable using Spanish, I'll branch out to areas where there are fewer expats. That's my plan, tentatively. 🤓

Thanks for this video. Do you recall anything about that Airbnb rent for $500 please. I'd like the name of it if you can find it. I am coming in August and still looking for an affordable accomodation. Thanks.
I was there more than a decade ago and expats were moving in - probably a lot more now. A home builder was pitching hard on selling a buildup of homes. I did not see the big mansion homes a while ago like there is in this video of today. Not surprised that Gil said costs have gone up a lot over the past 5 years. Craigslist would not be my choice to find a place to stay or live. I would prefer on-the-ground research, checking local ads and asking local people. I saw rental and sales ads posted in a sales office window and local stores just South in David city. I did like the fresh clean air and abundant green environment.
Boquete is pretty area and a nice climate but there's not much going on there.. if you like a very quiet life you'll be fine. If you like lots to do and more of a nightlife and more restaurants you'll be bored out of your mind after a couple of months. I've been there I have friends that have lived there for years. It would not be my choice but if you want a quiet vegetative life and just some hiking and some gringo stuff you'll like it.
@@VagabondAwake Is that so? Well there clearly were, my neighbor left (several months after I did) and he said there are still many restrictions and mandates coming down. Our landlord also left.

Learn how to swim, if you move to Boquete. Google says it rains up to 200 inches per year, that's over 16 FEET of precipitation in Boquete every year. Vietnam has 100 inches per year, the Philippines has 80 inches. Your biggest enemy would be fungus and mold. Your lawn would need cutting DAILY.

@@VagabondAwake Thanks! Healthcare is excellent and inexpensive. Basically expect to pay (without insurance) what you pay with insurance in the U.S. Also, the more you know Spanish, the more affordable things become because you get to learn what the real pricing is and not the tourist or expat pricing.
