    I was visiting Panama City a week and a half ago. I was extremely impressed with the city and a strong candidate to retire to and escape Chicago.

    Expat or “gringo” pricing. I’m moving in about a year. I’m just going to rent in Chiriqui. Don’t really want another house payment or repairs.

      No problem. Look for long term rentals. Good luck.

      You need to talk to the locals because these are definitely gringo prices.

    Many countries not just south America "assume" all Americans are rich. You will find the locals cost vs the gringo cost. Having a local or reputable agent/lawyer assis you is nice.

    watching from Boca Raton, b/c looking to ditch all HOA and live more outdoors in cooler climate. That said those rentals seem underprice compared to the house price.
    About prices, While areas 15miles outside the city limits, call themselves Boca Raton, houses in Boca Raton are 25 to 35% more.
    Love your presentations. Great information at a great pace.

      Some of those lower rentals were for Condos. I was scrolling fairly quick through them. 2 bedroom condos sell for 4-500k roughly. But someone may have bought them lower, or simply use them as income. So the price can vary. It seems like many ExPats overpay (everywhere) and then want out later but sales can take years to happen. So probably, they adjust rent to what they can get. But the floor for rentals is definitely higher in Costa del Este.

    • @laptopseniors
      @laptopseniors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Greg thank you for that feedback! NA real estate is nuts. I get the whole naming thing to jack the pricing. Hope you stick with us 😁

    Hi guys.
    You are doing an amazing job!
    Do you do consults for people moving to Panama?🙏

    • @laptopseniors
      @laptopseniors  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there. Thanks so much for that compliment and for watching our videos we have not done individual consults. Our goal is to provide information and our experience to help others in making their own decisions. There is definitely a lot of self examination and preparation before retiring to another country and I was thinking about doing another video on that alone. I believe your question is encouraging me to do that. Best of luck to you.

    So, of all the communities / cities / towns, etc...that you have visited, if a 62 year old guy like myself, single + a wanting to relocate to Panama...do you think that are any one bedroom apartments that would rent for about $500 per month, or even less??

    • @laptopseniors
      @laptopseniors  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We weren't looking for housing in that range specifically but I've seen posts for ads (local ones) that are in that range. I'd say a good to great chance at $500 would be places like Chitre, Las Tablas. Santiago, Penenome, and other smaller towns. Maybe David or Volcan or Boquete but it'd be tough in Boquete. Not likely in Coronado or Panama City although again, you might get lucky. From all those places just mentioned, I'd choose Chitre or David.

      Climate is same as Panama City as a whole. Best thing to do to get a feel is to go to weather.com and put in Panama City. And then just go look at last year's weather month by month/day by day. You'll see exactly what it'll be.

    HOA fees may be low due to tax credits that will eventually expire. If you have that kind of cash, much safer to invest it and pay the rent with the dividends. Just my opinion. Thanks for the video. Very lovely area. On my short list for sure. Cheers!

      Hi Tony. Thanks for watching and leaving your comment. We appreciate you 😄 It’s a good strategy if you expect a crash but we’ve seen very low HOA all over Panama so this isn’t unusual there.

      @@laptopseniors I'm not predicting a crash but not willing to accept those types of unknowns. Panama is easy to buy but hard to sell. I'll be back in Panama for the month of Feb and will definitely visit this area. After viewing your video, this may be my new hangout :)

    • @laptopseniors
      @laptopseniors  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      www.encuentra24.com/panama-en/real-estate
      www.point2homes.com/PA/ www.panamarealtor.com. As always if you can, the best deals are through window signs or a friend telling you about someone else's rentals. Be careful on websites to look for the same place in multiple locations. Many/most times you'll see it 2 or 3 times with 2 or 3 prices.

    All the places I looked at in Costa Del Este had a frence across the entire opening on every balcony to either keep people from throwing stuff off the balcony, keep people from shooting fireworks on to the balcony, or to keep people from jumping off the balcony. The entire place looked like it was designed by 1950-era Russian developers and manufactured by the Chinese. I doubt it's the place anyone dreamed of retired to during a 40 year career. Additionally, 5:23 three quarters of a million dollars and up with additional HOA fees is probably out of the budget of most people. CDE is nowhere near the metro lines, and driving in the city is exceedingly dangerous, especially for older drivers. Lastly, CDE is not really near anything. It's just dirty and loud.
