  • The untold story of the essential, genre-defying ‘90s industrial project Circle of Dust. Explore the early career of visionary artist, composer, musician and producer Klayton, who would later gain recognition for his category transcending project Celldweller.
Assembled from over 30 interviews and dozens of hours of VHS footage from Klayton’s personal archive, get access to never-before-released videos & stories on the history of Circle of Dust. Journey back to Circle of Dust’s inception, the signing of Klayton’s first record deal, assembly of a live band, subsequent legal battles and eventual dissolution of Circle of Dust in 1998, to the formation and independent success of Celldweller. The story ultimately comes full circle, with the resurrection of Circle of Dust in 2015.
Descend into the history of Circle of Dust, spanning over two decades, for an exclusive behind the scenes look at each album, starting with the debut Self-Titled album (1992/1995), Brainchild (1992/1994), Metamorphosis remix album (1993) and Disengage (1998), culminating with Machines of Our Disgrace (2016).
With over 2.5 hours of bonus footage, including live VHS bootlegs, a mini-documentary featuring Klayton’s collaborative side project Argyle Park, an in-studio expose on the gear and production of Circle of Dust, lyric and music videos, Full Circle is a testament to Klayton’s enduring vision, creativity, and persistence.

I am so glad I got to see COD live in Dallas Texas in 94 at a place called the Engine Room. Klay was so cool too. They were scheduled last minute to play two nights in a row, I drove like 100 miles to get there in a borrowed truck the first night and they cancelled the show because the venue wasn't going to let them do a sound check. I stood there on the sidewalk outside and BS'd with Klay, drilling with all kinds of production questions and he helped me out with great answers, truly helped set the course for me musically and even more for live shows. He gave me a COD sticker too which was so cool. I drove back the next night to see the show and it was just awesome \m/
Pure gratitude. I cannot say enough.
    Thank you Sir Klayton

This makes the earlier Ask Celldweller episodes make much more sense. I only became a fan around a year ago, so seeing all this stuff surrounding CoD was slightly confusing. Not sure how likely it is, but if you ever do make another CoD album (with Dust to Dust a part of it of course) and it continues off where Machines of our Disgrace does, I'll be here.
Also super hyped for Satellites so far. Into the Void has been one of my hype songs ever since its release.

I think its adorable how artists hate being labeled. Circle of Dust "isn't" Industrial... riiiight. And Sisters of Mercy isn't Goth Rock either. That said... this stuff was ahead of it's time, really. I've been a casual fan since the 90's, rediscovered a couple of years ago, and now my son and I are mega fans. CoD is now generational... how's that for making us feel old?

Awesome doc! I stumbled across Circle of Dust back in 1994. I was wandering through Camelot Music (remember music stores?) and I spotted Brainchild on the rack and thought it looked cool, and the name sounded cool, and I looked on the back and the song titles all sounded badass, so I took a chance and bought it sound unheard. And when I listened to it, it blew my mind open wide, and that album, along with the self-title, have been a massive influence on me ever since!

Maybe I was a little late with my opinion. But I want to say a few words, as guys at the end of documentary. My favorite song from Circle of Dust is "Rational lies". This thing just blows my mind. Always. But I like listening to the song in old concert recordings even more. Because the sound is more aggressive, dirtier or something, than on the record. And it gave charm. Uuuh, just fantastic!

I've been a fan since the first show at Cornerstone Festival! That was where I saw my first pair of Docs and I had to have a black pair. I was then the first kid in school to have a pair and all the preppy jocks picked on me for wearing "combat boots". Then the following year all of those same preppy jocks were wearing Docs because since they were wearing them, it was then cool. I did a speech about the Brainchild album and led off with 'Deviate'. Those kids didn't know what hit them! No one understood it and I was fine with that. I was always one to go across the grain. CoD, Brainchild and Metamorphosis were life changing albums for me! It was awesome to get my Metamorphosis CD signed by Living Sacrifice also.

Circle of Dust-

I learned about Circle of Dust the moment you released the remastered version of it. I fell in love with it and I still listen to all of it daily to this day.
I was aware of Celldweller existing, but I wasn't aware of other projects. The way I discovered Celldweller is kinda funny, another musician called ZeBlaZeD, added me to friends on steam and one day, while I was playing payday 2 he asked me about a remix of his which was a remix of one of your celldweller songs, I said that it was really fitting to payday 2 gameplay... and after a short while I got curious about how the originals sound like. The "End of an Empire" got me hooked. So here I am to this day. And I have listened to all of Klayton's albums. Industrial music is... generational. Definitely. It's never a bad idea to sample until it slaps. My jam.

bought a COD record off BMG or Columbia house (first album).. Great album ..they had that edge we're it was different than other artists considered 'industrial metal" ... just an mix of guitar and synth ...., distinct sound .... thanks for the DOC .

I was working from home today, and just sort of got lucky to see that was premiering after lunch.
It was really interesting to see what was happening in the background while all this great music was being created. As someone who found and loved this music later on, it was very cool to see the life cycle and rebirth of Circle of Dust.
    Thank you for making this!

I’m from Michigan and a buddy turned me onto Circle back in ‘95. I was a sophomore and was REALLY into thrash and heavy shit. I don’t know who turned him onto them but what That dude said about not having the I
internet and how this kind of thing spreads word of mouth intrigued me. I didn’t even know it was a one man band until tonight. Lol. Loved Brainchild. Listen to it all the time to this day. Deviates guitar solo is fucking epic. My buddy was a NIN, Ministry, Front 242 guy. I was a Slayer, Machine Head, Obituary guy. Hence……Circle of Dust. 😂

Pretty psyched about this. Been waiting 20 years to hear about circle of dust history and the reasons why it ended back in the 90s. Would love to see an Argyle Park documentary if enough footage is available.

Is it just me or are they really going out of their way not to mention Cornerstone by name? Among other details that have been cleverly glossed over. When I met this young fella years ago he had a different name even.

This is so great story, like a full film. Started to watch 5 min and didn't notice the end already. So I was right that Klayton outstripped time on 90th - brilliant music combination.
p.s. I found out about COD only 5 years ago and fell in love. I couldn't imagine how did start this band... Amazing history about grand creator.
p.s.s. Thanks for rus subs. Watched in origin, but subs perfect ^_^
