I already loved this before I saw the documentary and was told who Terry Riley was and what connection he has to this album.
A stunningly brilliant and on one level a simple musical concept. One of my favourite albums of the year, thank you Young gods.

True Audio Architects! From the 2 decades plus that I have known The Young Gods, they continue forging their non mistakeable sound into the future. Never 1 to fall back on yesteryear, they simply take what is given to them or chosen upon, and literally dissect, strip, manipulate and re-create a new interpretation of the body of work as only they can. Many years ago I saw The Young Gods in the Effenaar Eindhoven and they inspired me (us) a lot + a lot older now still creating music this video inspired me again!! Thanks a lot!! I would love to see you live again, maybe playing this piece. Take care out there!!

Absolutely stunning piece of work lads. Been a fan ever since you played my home town of Walsall many moons ago and it should have been my first proper gig as was asked to go, but sadly I didn't go but all my friends did. That following week they all played your stuff and I immediately became a huge fan swearing I would go next time you played, got into treponium pal who were the support act and my friends also played me. Of course you have never played here since much to my eternal regret. Did get to see you once at the Phoenix Festival and it's still one of my favourite ever gigs with faith no more dancing along with the crowd watching you, the only sad thing about that was not all the group of friends were able to watch it as the other act we all wanted to see was the equally remarkable Cardiacs who of course were playing the second stage at the same time so we split in two groups and they also were fantastic. The strange thing was they were my first proper gig that I went to the week after missing you guys all those years before...and you are still two of my favourites all these years later so thanks for all the years of pleasure
Blissful, to say the least. TYG never fail to amaze, from the early "industrial sound" to the more recent "psychedelic soundscapes", they nail it every time. Like many (I guess), I had no idea of Riley's seminal work. Now, thanks to TYG (and the documentary part of the video), not only do I know, but I've also understood "in C". Excellent oeuvre, les gars. Merci!

Printemps de Bourges 1987, la scène Tremplin programme des groupes qui ont déjà franchi un certain stade de développement par rapport aux Découvertes (les Inouïs d'aujourd'hui), dont le magazine toulousain Rock Press, pour lequel je travaille alors, est cette année là le parrain. Ce matin là, un groupe suisse est programmé, The Young Gods, une véritable curiosité : ce groupe de '"rock" sans guitare ose se présenter sur scène avec un sampleur. Une véritable hérésie pour l'époque. Les Young Gods vont retourner une salle punkoïde comble avec un son cataclysmique. Une de mes plus grosses claques en concert.
J'étais dans la salle. J'ai pris aussi ce soir là, une énorme claque. Le clavier du groupe dans lequel je jouait à l'époque, a acheté un sampler le mois suivant... Je les ai revus l'année suivante au Confort Moderne (Poitiers), Je me souviens de quelques punks dubitatifs quand le groupe ouvre le concert avec "La fille de la mort" et qui pogotaient comme des fous quelques minutes plus tard.
Vous m'aviez mis une claque au printemps de Bourges, c'était en 1987 si mes souvenirs sont bons et une autre au Confort Moderne (Poitiers) à l'occasion de la sortie de L'eau Rouge puis quelques autres plus tard...
Et aujourd'hui, je découvre que vous jouez une de mes pièces préférées de la musique du XXème siècle. Merci mille fois. Et.... Envoyé!

Avec TOOL et Radiohead, les Young Gods sont parmi les groupes de musique les plus fascinants et inventifs de cette planète. Les compositions minimalistes de Terry Riley ne sont pas toujours faciles d'accès mais interprétées de cette façon, par ces trois larrons, c'est formidable.
