    Dear PBK, sorry to say that, but the biggest problem with this phone and this video specially is your LACK OF SKILLS (maybe you are better now).
    I used your video for dissasembling and thanks for that, but you are making multiple fails one by one.
    You just CANT open things like that and just tear and split them in half, tear the antennas and more.
    So for the other, YES YOU CAN REPAIR this phone - depends on your skills, once you are in, it is just a basic phone.
    Little bit of IPA, good tools and patience and I opened it in 20 minutes without any damage to plastics :)
    Have a nice day.

    ive had a moto g 5 since 2017, ive dropped it on hard surfaces multiple times, no protection case, even droped it in water, in a lake about 30 cm deep, a friend found it after a couple hours, still worked, had it for 1,5 years after lake episode still works, only problem so far is when it was left in the car below minus tempratures this winter, might just be because of old battery. i am concidering motorola defy, even it seems unrepairable, but the fact that my old g5 lived such a hard life i dont think i will need to repair the defy before its time to replace it. ive been looking at several other rugged phones, and was about to go for xr20, but it ranges from 450 to 550 usd, and i found defy for 200 usd. so i think i will take my chances with the defy.

      I had a CATERPILLAR CAT S62 PRO (800 €) and now for 3 years I have had a Motorola Defy and I can tell you that there is no comparison, the Defy is very very strong, but... the electronics inside can suffer abuse and stop working function or malfunction, for example, after several hits and getting the phone wet, the fingerprint sensor does not work well. Watching the video has taught me that it is not a good idea to open it, it is better to let it stop working and buy another phone, the Defy had a good price (in Europe less than 300 €) but it is no longer manufactured.

      @@PBKreviews why did Motorola make such a design, is this a kind of marketing from the other side so that we can't replace our own components and have to go to the service center and get a new unit?

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The only thing I can think of is they tried to make it very rugged and in a way to keep anything out from getting inside the phone but other manufactures are able to make very rugged devices as well and those are repairable, unlike this one. Motorola is not a bad brand but when it comes to this phone, I would stay away.

    How strong can it be ? The glass I mean. The display will always cracks no matter what. A good, solid case like spigen thick amour case can offer a good solution so this phone make no sense. Now, for the warranty: haw will work ? Is not like can do a better job replacing the display. And a repair shop will charge you more just because of the work need to be done. This phone is indeed no way to be repair even from the maker perspective.

      Motorola Defy is a military standart phone with IP68 security standart and with Gorilla Glass Victus screen security. You can throw it down from 1.8 meters, put it in cold and warm water, wash it with water and soap. It can fall in dust and dirty sand, and still be usable.
      I think so- your apple has no military standart phone and you cant put it in sea water. :)
      I just ordered Motorola Defy for 10 yrs old boy.
      With its military standarts, 4Gb/ 64Gb memory and by price 203€ it it is good deal, I think so.
