Being able to add more time on a screen so easily has saved my sanity! I've been copying small snippet of the screen before it changes and pasting 5 copies to stay in the same place!
I agree, that is helpful, I was using the camera to take frame, then paste that in the timeline and extend it as required. You might also look at cutting your clip, and changing the clip speed on the section you want to extend; for longer pauses it makes it feel a bit less static, assuming there is some mouse movement.
These are "TIPS TO USE CAMTASIA BETTER" and this is what Camtasia users definitely need. Keep up this kind of content and go to the top of my list. Thank you.
Literally all of these are my "Go to tips to blow peoples' minds about Camtasia." Great video, and thanks for spreading the word on these amazing features!
My experience on a Mac is different to that of the video. The default is to move ALL tracks when dragging playhead, whether you have media selected or not. Tip: If you're wanting to RIPPLE MOVE media on one track only, within a project with multiple tracks, Solo the track first. On a Mac this is OPTION+click the track visibility (eye) icon. In fact the best way to ripple move a single track on Mac , is select ANY other clip on the Track to the right of the first clip that needs moving, then hold Shift, then click on that first clip and drag right. So if you have 5 clips on a track that need ripple moving, select #3 clip...hold down shift & click on Clip#1 then drag right to move across timeline. Basically follow the steps in the video for Ripple Move but drag the first clip, not the playhead.
Thanks for the tips. I just started dabbling in Descript, and am finding that Camtasia is more powerful for getting a polished final product, but Descript is much easier. First off, the text based editor is integrated with the timeline unlike with audiate, but I suspect it is only a matter of time before Camtasia jumps on the bandwagon and integrates the two. The question you might know the answer to, though, is whether Camtasia has something like 'scenes' in Descript. It lets you set up a template, and then with a single click it can jump between multi-cam layouts, including crops. So I can go from a full screen of the screen recording track, to my full headshot, to an intro with a lower thirds video overlaid, to a side by side of the presentation with my cropped headshot and a video background looping, back to my headshot full screen, etc. All with one click of the scene I want. So convenient. I use assets and the library to apply layouts to a single track, but can't figure out if there is something analogous to the scenes where I can do something to all the tracks at once. I wouldn't be exaggerating if I said it reduces my editing time by about 70%, and makes it much more likely for me to put cuts in to make the video more engaging. Does that sound like something in Camtasia? Thanks
Honest answer: we do not have Scenes like Descript. Maybe in the future, but not currently nor is it on an upcoming timeline that we're aware of. HOWEVER, we do have ways that you can save common workflows. For example, since 2020 we've had Templates in Camtasia. You can save your favorite vidoe as a template, and then replace titles/footage and everything else by dragging and dropping your new footage over your old and telling it to 'replace.' Here's a tutorial on how Templates work and how you can create some of your own so you're not always reinventing the wheel with each video: th-cam.com/video/j9unueJqjSE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=i0VnY0oIL9hbRUxt
Another way to do this, is to add your most used assets (titles, music, graphics) to your library, by right clicking the asset in your project and choosing "Add to Library." You can create a custom library folder so you can keep your assets separated by video/topic. th-cam.com/video/IB-6JovOiC0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=vImsPhN1wOp_QuKT
@@techsmith Thanks for the response. I am already doing both of those things, or something similar. I love the product and have been with it for a LOT of years. Hopefully some of these time savers will happen down the road.
so I have both the Explorer and Voyager certs, but this is the first time I think I've seen the ripple move (I actively employ the others regularly). That's gonna be a big time saver for me. Thanks!
Very helpful! I actually bought the newest version of Camtasia two weeks ago and encountered the problem with the videos made by Action Camera, but thanks to the video proxy it was solved:)! I was so disappointed and now I am at the opposite pole, that is, happy and happy! CAMTASIA THE BEST, PERIOD!
Didn't know about that first ripple move! Must try that. And I'd heard of the proxy video but have never tried it. Will give that a go, too. Thanks a lot!
We don't have that video subject planned, but we do have an older video about how to rotate a video (from horizontal to vertical and vice versa) that you can see here: th-cam.com/video/MyKZ0wPSHtE/w-d-xo.html
@@techsmith my difficulty is knowing how to operate to organize and generate the various cuts within the project and layers ..... and export them separately
Proxy video is a great tip - didn't know it existed. All my videos are shot with dslr camera and are usually 2 GB so I'm sure this will help. It's not uncommon to see my computer choking on processing while editing
Really wish the right click extend frame would simply make a copy of frame and drop in default length into timeline for user to simply drag to size. Awesome video though, all very useful features can’t wait to use.
Essentially it does, just not immediately. You can right-click the stitch to "remove stitch" and then you have a still frame you can extend as long or as short as you'd like separate from the clip if you need that.
When I reduce speed at one track 1, other tracks elements do not move according to that, i have to move each and every element according to their original position. How to move other tracks when i change speed on one track?
do you have a shortcut key for re-arranging 'gaps' (previously DELETED video clips) between video clips so that all of the video clips are continuous? (instead of moving each video clip manually to the left to eliminate all 'gaps')
Oh the proxy video! So let's say I'm in the middle of editing and forgot to change the videos to proxy. If I go ahead and convert the media to proxy will it also convert the video on the timelines?
Hello, I am a personal trainer and massage therapist. I have a little experience in video editing. Ideally I would like to narrate some common day to day routine and then have some more specific human antomy video to explain some health condition. Would camtasia be the right software? I am using a Chromebook, I don't have a PC
Have you tired Motion Paths? You can add bezier curves with them. Find Motion Path in the Visual Effects tab and add the effect to just about any on-screen elements.
Sure! You can do that with an Animation. We have a tutorial on how to use Animations here: th-cam.com/video/0O3WSJv60vI/w-d-xo.html Start the credits at the bottom, off-screen. Then at the end of the animation, drag the credits to the top of the canvas, again off-screen. Change the duration by extending the animation on the timeline (as they may show in the tutorial).
Is there anyway to change the default proxy video storage from the C drive? I have several fast NVME drives directly connected to motherboard and it keeps filling up my C Drive instead.
At this time I don't believe there is, however, you can set it to automatically delete Proxy files (oldest first when they reach a certain GB size - which you can customize in your preferences).
As long as you're on Camtasia 2022 or later it should be available for any video footage. If you've closed & reopened the software already, try submitting a support ticket so our team can look into why it's disappeared on you: bit.ly/techsmith-help
