I ended up getting the diablo sport tuner with the AMS racing AFM delete kit. I had a lifter collapse 30 days after purchasing a 2010 model Silverado and learned about Chevrolet's screw up then. I would say that the diablo is worth the money just for that alone. You still have the parts under the hood which are still prone to fail but it's better than hearing it's going to cost $4,000 to rebuild the motor and that's just to take it back to stock configuration, so essentially just a ticking time bomb waiting to happen yet again. Me and a buddy from work did the rebuild in about 16 hours and deleted the program out of the ECM with the diablo. Now I'm just checking out what all options it has. Chevrolet really screwed the pooch with their AFM/DOD system. All that money and headache just to save 2 to 5% in gas milage when they had a pretty much bullet proof design for decades. No one asked for this option. If I'm buying a V8, I want a V8. No one buys a full size truck and says, "Ya know, I really like the room and towing capacity of this truck but what it really needs..... is to get the gas milage of a 4 banger". I know I'm giving up gas milage for something I can actually use.

Got one for my 2012 5.3 and man does it make a difference. Horsepower and torque increase may not be a whole lot but driveablity and gas mileage have improved quite a bit. Drives like a whole different truck especially when you disable DOD
KK40384 getting rid of torque management helps a lot too
How significant is the change in gas mileage?
@@leviwilmington7908 about 2 mpg around town but mine is also lifted. May be more if you’re running factory wheels and tires and aren’t lifted.
Yeah I have an 03 Tahoe 5.3 lifted so I’m wondering if it’s worth it lol

5.3 should be taking 87 regular gas. That's why I bought a 5.3 Z71 and not a High Country or Denali with the 6.2 taking 93 octane.
But they run so much better on E-85!
I had a 6.2. First week i had it, i burned 2 tanks of gas. They are fast, but damn they love the fuel
Tommy Phillips my wife has the 6.2 Yukon and it actually gets better mileage than the 5.3. Yukon has the 6 speed tranny. My truck has the 8 speed tranny and with the 6.2 also and it freaking sucks the gas!!
@@LS3438 I wish mine did. I drive hard, but thats in everything. It had the 8 speed as well. If you could set the cruise, it was good.

Thanks for this video! I will receive my DiabloSport 8245 inTune i3 Platinum Performance Programmer 3rd Generation tomorrow for my 2014 Chevy Silverado LTZ 4x4 (5.3L). I bought this for 1) turn off the DOD 4-cylinder mode 2) correct for larger tires 3) increase power with the 87-tune 4) shift points 5) throttle response. I have the stock exhaust and stock heavy duty air intake system that came with the truck. Prob won't mess with doing much more than the tune. Again, thanks for this instructional video...curious if Diablo reached out to you with all your views on this video. They should!

I used the tune for a month, worked great , at first. I used the 87 tune changed tire size, AFM delete. I also changed the throttle position from 0 to10 on all gears 5 on WOT. Today my truck went into limp mode code P2135 throttle position sensor, lost power. I put the factory tune back on and the code went away and the truck went back to full power. What did I do wrong?

New to this whole tuning thing and really just want afm delete out of it and also to adjust speedometer since it’s not true due to bigger tires I have on my truck.
Do you have to leave the tunner plugged in the OBD port or can you take it off after the tune is completed?
You tune it then remove it.

Getting with DiabLew and getting a custom tune you can install using the intune3 will really bring the truck to where it should be which is saying alot because the diablo canned tune is pretty damn great, I did a package deal for the intune3 and custom tune, couldn't be happier it's worth every penny.

Have you tried out the MPG boost setting on it? If so how much better are the MPG’s after tuning it? I have 2015 high country with the 5.3 and I currently have a job where I have to drive around 150 miles or so a day, so saving some MPG’s would be advantageous for me while gas is as high as it is.
I just got the Diablo sport one week ago for my 2500 6.0 L Silverado. I have seen roughly a 2 1/2 to 3 miles per gallon increase on the eco-mode which makes a big difference over a 36 gallon tank.
You bought a full size truck and are worried about gas milage?? 😂😂😂 This is the exact reason why the AFM/DOD system even came to fruition and killed an otherwise bulletproof engine. Thanks a lot from all the guys who have experienced collapsed lifters!

According to diablo, i3 has an CARB EO number. I'm in Cali too and looking to get this tuner
@@gortiz444 Oh alright then it should be legal but Cali is whack as hell I could have sworn I read somewhere it is illegal it loads tunes onto your ecu. After researching more tho I don't know if I would go with something like this tuner or hp tuners, cause I want to do a cam and I don't believe this would give me the tunability to get it to run right and make actual power.

@@franciscotavares2817You would probably want to set it back to factory settings before an inspection and then simply unplug it. Then plug it back in afterwards. It's plug and play though.

Yeah I'm thinking about it too. Sounds like cheap horsepower, almost sounds too good to be true. I have a 06 GMC 1500 4wd 5.3 Vortec and I too am curious how its holding up.

@@ercysuazo8420 Yeah it worked well. It did wipe my ECU and I sent it to Florida to get it reflashed but thats the risk you take with these tuners. Also I wouldn't recommend changing fule tables in the "Advanced tune" without doing some research because the tuner and your ECU can cause a conflict and if you richen the mixture your ECU can read that as the truck spraying too much fule and it will lean it out and that can destroy the engine. Yeah man it worked well and if you have any questions just hit me up.

why not just have someone tune truck for you ? wouldn't that be cheaper? I cant see purchasing a tuner and never using it again
If you want to go to the dealer you can put it back to stock so it won't void warranty
Don't think it works that way the tune is on the device then it goes to vehicle.. don't think you can use it multiple times

how many vehicles can you use 1 unit with?
Extra gas when you get in the pedal is good. Helps to avoid a momentary condition of extremely lean mixture. All of a sudden you have more air. But the truck has to pump the gas to even it out. Extra gas when you get on the pedal helps you stay at the best mixture so you don’t lean out.

What’s the most Like aggressive tune they got?
So if I already have the 93 octane tune installed in my truck do I have to put it back to the factory tune before I change to the Diablo tune and change other things? Or can I just plug in and change the tune.

You can use it on other vehicles but you have to by a license for each vehicle. Last I knew it's $140 per vehicle.

The speed limiter is there because truck tires arent safe at high speeds like a z rated car tire.
Would this work if I was replacing my 4.8 with a 5.3 I need a tune according to my mechanic but everybody around me wants $800+ for a tune

Question, the way you did it deletes the AFM right?
It disables it but you still have the AFM lifters, valley plate and cam shaft. The only way to truly get rid of it is to change the lifters, cam, and valley plate and then disable the AFM setting. I used the AMS racing DOD/AFM delete kit.

Is this tuned safe? And does it work with a 2017 and 2018 Silverado 5.3?
I recently bought the Intune3 and tuned my 2018 Silverado 1500 4x4 LTZ with the canned 91 octane tune because I run on 91 or better fuel. The tune totally woke my truck up. No more throttle lag off the line. Noticeable increase in HP and TQ. Not so quick to shift all the way up into 6th at sustained 35mph and so on. And yes, you can turn off AFM/DOD with it. When I run in drive mode it never goes into V4 mode. All 8 all the time.
Model 8246 works with 17-18 and 19 legacy. (Ld). No $50 fee to unlock.
Model 8245 for the 14-16 you have to pay.

I just got a new i3 Platinum Tuner for my 2009 suburban. It comes with one license installed in the unit to use out of the box. I can add additional licenses, by connecting the i3 unit to my PC and using the PC interface to buy/add licenses. I think it will hold up to 5 individual VINs. Cheers

I just got mine I’ve updated the tuner to my computer and try to tune my car 2018 silverado 1500 5.3L, it read and then it say one or more ECU update needed, i went back go to computer and check update and it said your device is up to date and go back to my car and try it again and it do the same thing, one or more ECU need update.
You have to call diablo and they will send u the update via wifi I believe
Mine did the same thing, do a Diablo search of Update Agent...cost me another $40 though.
If its the model 8245, you will have to pay a $50 fee to unlock it for your truck. The 17 and 18s have a 8246 i3 model that has no fee. You have to update from the computer or wifi right out of the box before plugging into the truck. But on the computer, ignition will walk you through all those steps for its first update. Along with the email to diablo. It will tell you to wait for the response. Then you get conformation that you are ready to go. All up to date, plug it in and upload a tune.

The way I understand it, No. It is pretty much married to one vehicle. I'm thinking I read somewhere that you can pay to have it cleared off for about the same price you could buy a brand new one for.
