    HAVE YOU ALWAYS WONDERED IF YOUR TRUCK WILL GET BETTER GAS MILEAGE USING A COMPUTER PROGRAMMER? MOST PROGRAMMERS AND DEVICES ARE MARKETED AS PROVIDING BETTER PERFORMANCE, EFFICIENCY, AND GAS MILEAGE.......
    WELL I KNOW WHAT I'VE NOTICED OVER 20 YEARS OF PROGRAMMING MY VEHICLES. YOU ASKED, AND I FINALLY DECIDED TO LOG SOME DATA AND SHOW YOU THE RESULTS

    One note I would add is the average you were showing only takes into account your last 50 miles. So driving a week or two gives you no more data than driving 50 miles. You can change it to 400 miles to make it a better long term average. I don't think that will change your results in this case, just an FYI.

    I got 2001 blazer LT with 230k ml on it with a flowmaster 40, k&n, and the hypertech max power. Stock average hw was 18mpg doing 75-80. Started paying attention to the rpms with the 87oct tune and at 2100-2200rmps at 77mph I’ve ranged from 18.7mpg-20mpg. Driving from ft Bragg to Columbia sc and atl I’ve gotten 21mpg a few times. With the tuners it’s a hit or miss on mpg but at the end of the day u get more ponies atleast

I've noticed if I just get in and drive and show the "average fuel economy is shows 12-14. but if you reset the computer ...with fuel economy displayed press and hold the "check mark" button and it will now show the real time FE 17,23,44,12.......so on.

    Is not in the cards now but it cost you 600% more for the difference in price between regular and premium that it did just 7 years ago. Your paying 60 cents more a gallon for that over regular. It actually used to be a nickel difference to 10 cents at the most

    • @BrickMudge

      I decided years ago with my 2.7L EB that although you probably do lose a little performance and fuel economy with 87 octane, it's still cheaper in terms of MPD (Miles Per Dollar) than using 92 octane. Although I've leveled my truck, installed wheel spacers and heavy 33's, the biggest factor for me and my lowly 16 MPG is still due to something called... LEAD FOOT! lol! I am curious though about how many more MPG's I'd get with a tuner. With today's democrat gas prices, even a 2 MPG improvement it would pay for itself in a year or two in my case. I drive 600 miles a week.

    So my thing is this - ever since the electronic MPG averages have been shown on the dash or where ever, i always use division and figure it out long hand. That being said, i have yet to see any truck and paper have the same answer. Usually the paper method is lower than what the vehicle shows. That being said, have you done the numbers for a full tank of gas and did it long hand? Im just curious because my '16 hasn't matched at all.

    • @codyharney2997

      It varies by the way you drive. In town is less miles per gallon. Stopping and starting uses more fuel than continuous travel. The number would be very close if you are on the highway with cruise set. The numbers will be farther of in stop and go traffic and how hard you accelerate up to speed.

    • @bromandudeguy1995
      @bromandudeguy1995 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup. And with bigger tires, you’re travelling further than what your odometer shows so if the dash mpg goes off of that then you’re probably getting a little better mileage than what it’s saying.

    Q: Can you use that tuner to custom program Air/Fuel mix? The reason I ask, is im looking to install an HHO generator in my truck and I need to change the Air/Fuel mix to use less fuel since there wil be hydrogen mixed in with the air. I dont want the air flow sensor reading more O2 and start pumping in more gas to fix the issue. I could pop it in behind the sensor, but then its not helping on MPG, because its still using same amount of gas. Makes me wish all cars/trucks still had carbs on them.
