I heard that dji like glass and for beginner who willing to race or do freestyle is terrible, drones crash every day and dji shatters compared to analog drones. Fixing is expensive and no simulator will save you from crash since even pro crash everyday... One hit and dji is dead... Is it true that cost is way bigger to learn and/or fly with dji than analog? Ppl say that dji fpv is a hard way to learn and fly fpv since of price and fixing price...

I doubt it will be much cheaper than what you can already buy it from China right now going on DJI's history. I got the full fly more combo tx/rx/goggles for $800USD the other day.

Huh, the dji goggles actually fit me perfectly. I bought the dji made foam that is supposed to fit better as well, and definitely made it worse for me. I get the feeling the stock foam is for flatter Asian faces like mine, and the better fit foam is for pointer faces.

100% upgrading the antennas made a BIG diff for me, flying at 1200mw. I upgraded from stock DJI goggle and Caddx Vista air unit antennas to TrueRC LHCP singularities on both goggle and Caddx. The difference was amazing. I got 1.3km down a beach with stock antennas, signal getting low and when I turned the quad around to come back the quad dropped out of the sky. With TrueRC, I still had 50MBs going both directions at the same spot. At 2km still 50MBs. Didn’t fancy testing further, but I don’t worry about signal often anymore. It may be that the extra height of the 7cm Air unit antenna is what made most the difference. But either way, I am now happy and was disappointed before. And they look heaps better!!

Flo-Rida FPV sure I’ll do it using a car in 700mw, to have more real world result, myself, the video I saw the stock and the patch gave the same result!

    • @cmtetaboaco
      @cmtetaboaco 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Mike Lanzo maybe the 7cm difference is the only thing that changed all!

At 1200mw aftermarket antennas make a big difference . I get huge signal drop and frame drops in one area where l fly with the stock antennas. With the pagodas i get almost no loss in the same place and yes l have done back to back testing. I didnt notice a difference between the pagodas and true rc singularities

Nice job! Agree...So far I'm loving the DJI FPV System (just getting started in FPV) and that its also compatible with Caddx Vista (as I just bought a BetaFPV 9X) as well. Everything can be bound to my DJI FVP Goggles and RC so I'm not switching gear all the time. Wish DJI would improve those MMCX Connectors though (mine broke off 1st crash). Someone recommended soldering a piece of wire to it to pull it out (I'll have to try next time).

No manufacturer cares for the hobby and more than the next. If we stop flying, they stop making money. So unlike industries that are essential to our daily lives, they have a vested interest in keeping us happy and establishing a competitive advantage to ensure we buy their stuff. DJI entered a market that hated them, man an awesome product, and won over a whole bunch of customers. Now manufacturers like Fatshark and Runcam have to play catch up because they weren't keen to innovate or didn't have the means to do it. If DJI didn't stir things up with their ability to invest millions into R&D for digital FPV, we wouldn't have it. Fatshark only announced their product after DJI swooped in and 12 months later we still don't have a working product from them...

I love the DJI FPV system too. Just wish for a couple additions to the system:
1: A 10-25mw HDMI-to-VTX. This way you could plug in your PC (simulator) and broadcast to goggles.
2: Type C to HDMI support for the goggles. This way you can output goggles' video directly to a monitor.
For industrial use, You could just hand a spare pair of goggles to the producer. They can use the HDMI as needed.
3: More elements supported via OSD (for iNav Planes)
4: Better handling of signal loss - for Digital & Analog.
5: (Perhaps the most important) Support audio on goggles! I want to hear the quad from the goggles.
Again, pipe-dreams but all of these are extremely do-able.

      This !
The lack of HDMI output (and no, the 750$ Smart Controller doesn't count...) is what has been holding me from purchasing DJI's system.
I fly with friends and family often, not being able to lend them a spare pair of goggles and share the experience is a no-go for me.
HDMI-in would be great too, as would audio support.
If Shark Byte is priced adequately (i.e. price of SB system + HDO2

#1 Thing I hate about DJI goggles: NO HDMI OUT
If they had an HDMI OUT, I could screw wearing these POS suffocating bricks on my face, set them on the table, and plug them into a legit military grade 720p ruggetized computer monitor and fly off of that. I for real legit don't want to and hate wearing these d@mn things.
The weight drags your face down and rests on your nose, press your nostrils closed, and you can't breathe. I can adjust mine slightly to alleviate that, but then the line of sight is somewhat above what is straight ahead and down viewing for me since I'm use to working on a computer monitor... and I then have to look straigh ahead or upward while flying which is a ROYAL PITA.
Fix the damn goggles DJI. Make a box set version for people with vision problems so we can get closer to the screen and read the OSD. Just pipe dreams here...

I could've got DJI and still can, BUT..
    1. 2x heavier unmodded.
    2. No small drones with cheap batteries for playing for long periods with many batteries.
    3. Very expensive drones you can't relax with properly.
    4. They have higher latency.
    5. Image cuts to black immediately making it more likely to lose or crash expensive drone.
    6. Only 2 cameras actually look O.K. (i own 4k TV's)
    7. Dji is and always has been just a flying camera company for photographers.
    8. Stress, worry, devastation, ect.
    9. I'm not stupid.

Bought a GLR 1.28 track racing car instead and then my DJI Inspire 1 and a Raptor 650 Folding and my Futaba T10J and T14SG went in the same spirit.
Instead of Futaba, I got a new Jumper T16 Pro to drive my BetaFPV 85 HD and Mobula 6, which I was an idiotic purchase as that Jumper never came out of the box.
Brand new Eachine EV200 and two whoop are therefore lying and scrapping together with Jumper and it only gives a bad conscience.
Well, I have a "small" hobby project left too and it is a Sky Hero Spy Y6-900 with Dji Naza V2 and 4S engine system.
Without Futaba radio and an unwillingness to drive it with the Jumper, I am now thinking of a DJI FPV Fly More Combo instead.
If I buy a DJI kit with radio, goggles and air unit, can I fligh this with the Naza flight controller as well?
I have a Diatone 210 that got a kit EMax RS 2205 2600KV, Matek F722-SE FC and Runcam Split Mini 2 for 4S configuration with Jumper ...
As I said, Betaflight and analogue suck both energy and patience out of me, so last winter the Runcam went out with Turnigy Evo radio and it was aimed to also take the Matek FC out and replace with OneFlight and Caddx Turtle V2.
Then Covid struck and most of it halted.
Now, however, I want this 210 race drone in airworthy condition and I am thinking of stopping in a DJI kit instead and then comes the third question.
If I can fly Air Unit with radio in RTH centered GPS lever for Sky Heron, is there a possibility that you could easily change the radio to race mode with the throttle lever at the bottom for the race drone and be able to switch between these modes?
If I can get this done and get these drones in airworthy condition again, then the hope is to replace the drive system in Sky Heron with a 6S configuration for longer flight time.
If it does not work to run the radio in different modes and have GPS mode, then the Sky Heron might have to be an FPV drone, but in a larger scale to mimic a ”wing”.
How do you make your FPV Goggle to fit your face, out of the box it's terrible for me?
Is there an FlightOne FC that is PnP with DJI Air Unit?
Is there a DJI PnN Flight Controller with GPS to get a Naza V2 flight experience?
I need a jump start to get the motivation back, and BetaFlight is NOT the way to get me back on track!

Agreed on the "more than one company" thing. Caddx vista is just another hardware vendor obeying the same specs laid out by DJI. I won't change over until either DJI open source their code or another company or two offer an entire different take on digital FPV. DJI are just flying apple phones. Some people love their iphones. I would not touch one with the septic rod in a leper's pants.

And if the V2’s were the pinnacle, do you think there’s been a shift in what DJI are aiming for in their approach to FPV?

Aye bro, your videos are cool and informative as hell. I subscribed from the first video i saw of yours (the explorer lr review). I don't know who wouldnt subscribe.
Anyway, I Just dipped my toe into fpv and got a tinyhawk 2. Have done a ton of research these last 2 weeks (a lot from your channel) and decided that digital (DJI) is the way to go for me because I'm not so tech savvy and the ease of use thing seems right up my alley, lol. But also DJI seem to be the leading innovators in the industry. I love camera drones also tho which is what I started with (zino pro) and I plan to get a skydio 2. I want to freestyle very well thats all. I'm a few days into this so far and I haven't really crashed much and I'm thinking about the simulator but I don't wanna but a controller just to do it. Anyway sorry to run on in your comments. Keep posting amazing content especially like that train video from a few years ago. That was DOPE as hell bro. You a beast for that one.

The DJI HD system does indeed rock. My biggest monetary complaint is the big pile of worthless analog boards I have here and I do miss all my custom OpenTX switches and functions, and the 4 transmitters (all equipped with Crossfire, one with 2W). My other complaints are mostly minor in the big picture. One problem was admitting DJI was doing something good, and overlooking that whole China business/political thing, which has (and looks like it will continue to be) something anyone who flys RC has to deal with, as alternatives are rare to non-existent. The other stuff doesn't even comes close to compelling me to even think of running analog.
The real big complaint is (as with you) the lack of an output so you can take people for rides. It's kind of a vicious thing, I often find myself saying "did you see that??, isn't this HD awesome??" only to realize nobody can watch. While it is hard to justify another set of goggles just to hand off to A (One, Uno, Singular) spectator/spotter. If they had a receiver I could hook to a display, I''d buy one instantly. A video out on the goggles should be a standard feature though, and I don't understand the reason there isn't one, technically, it couldn't add cost enough create any barrier, it would, in fact most probably increase sales, even at a higher price. The reason must be that it will effect other product lines sales or something like that. If it's obvious and I'm missing it, please point it out for me, I would really like to understand.
Thanks for the great long term test report, nicely done.

    Interesting video.
Concerning the price...BUT we do not all fly on TBS unify and top of the range analog stuff. For instance, I have one rig out of 5 with tbs unify and crsf and etc. So analog gives way more flexibility in the choice of components, rather than paying the premium price for all quads of a personal fleet.
Ccl: Dji is way more expensive than analog.

I do slightly regret not starting with the DJI FPV system. I just wish it wasn't such a closed ecosystem. FWIW I really don't like my HDO2s, when they are in focus, my eyelashes hit the lenses and the lenses hit my forehead if I put them up. I will, no doubt, pick up the DJI gear eventually, I just hope the pros outweigh the cons.

If you don’t have to get on a computer to transfer files, update firmware, and SD card on open transmitter then I will do digital FPV. I am not in any way good with computers and did away with my radio master tx. Too much technical stuff. I will rather pay higher cost for digital then mess with analog anyday.

Your price comparison for the items needed for an analog set up, it's, to my opinion, wrong.
To get the range and penetration that the DJI fpv system has, you need double than the budget you mentioned. So DJI fpv comes cheaper not more expensive.

Agree on pretty much all points.. Couple of other gripes:
1: DJI themselves released a thicker foam padding for the goggles, reviews are mixed, but they've been out of stock everywhere for months so we're stuck with shitty overpriced TPU shims or printing our own ($10 for 5 grams of tpu is robbery)
2: the wiring harness that ships with the DJI is using the worst wire quality I've ever experienced; the insulation melts away at the slightest touch of the iron. And they have the gall to charge $6 for another one. (iFlight recently released a FIVE pack for the same price with silicone wire)
3: the camera is hardwired. If there was a quick connect at the air unit, it'd be much easier to build multiple quads and mount a camera in each (hint to DJI: more cameras sold) and just unplug the camera and swap the air unit between quads.
4: the SMA mounts in the goggles are really quick to come loose. I haven't overtightened mine and one still has a little bit of turn when I tighten the antenna down
5: lack of documentation: you mentioned in a video last week that you *think* 3 antennas receive and 1 antenna transmits, but who knows which is which.. You have your axii 2's hooked up backwards from the product page, btw.. Is one of the patch antennas assigned to transmit? (maybe you could test this btw?)
6: I can't believe the air unit is limited to 4S voltage. $1 more spent on the voltage regulator would've let us run 6S direct.
7: the antennas themselves kinda fragile.. I (and a few others that I know of) have lost the caps off of the tops fairly easily.
Re: this video.. not gonna lie, I love your channel but not a fan of the multiple like/subscribe bits. (sorry, not a fan)
Otherwise you were on the money with:
1: the antenna connectors (hate the mmcx, sma adapters are almost a necessity in most cases and further add to the cost)
2: people saying "the per quad cost is too much" while spending nearly as much on an analog kit
    3: the strap suuuuucks
    4: the power cord suuuuucks
    5: the fit/foam suuuuuuuuuuuuuucks
I really hope they address the blackout time of system reboot & reconnect, improve the quality of the included gear (c'mon, it's top tier, not budget, don't skimp on the small stuff to save pennies on a premium product), and hopefully we see more third party dji compatible equipment. Would love to see an even lighter weight alternative to the caddx vista, even if it were limited to say 700mw. Oh and it'd be nice if they included a little cover/protector for the usb-c/microSD slots on the air unit to keep them from getting jammed with grass.
PS - In your recent video testing the axii 2s, you mentioned the dvr video was corrupted then in post you added "salvaged" or similar.. Can you share how you did that? I've had a number of corrupt videos that I'd love to be able to view.
    Keep up the good work!

    • @triggermovies
      @triggermovies 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Agree with you (and Nurk), except on one point : cost per quad.
An analog kit is nowhere near as expensive.
Nurk's figure aren't really realistic : every VTX (even brand names) other than TBS Unify are 35$ or less. And he even said that crossfire isn't 30$ anymore, but still counted it up as 30$...
And there are plenty of very good, yet cheaper analog alternatives... There are good 20$ camera, great 20$ vtx, awesome 15$ antennas, etc...
So, worst case, total for analog is 108$ (35 camera + 35 vtx + 23 crossfire + 20 antenna), versus 180$ for DJI air unit...
But ! That is only if you use DJI's radio...
If you use a separate radio with your HD FPV, it's 85$ for analog versus 180$ for DJI (plus a receiver in both cases)... More than twice as expensive for DJI
PS : I'm not saying analog is better than HD :) I'm just pointing out that this specific argument should be in favor of analog
PPS : lighter wieght alternatives aren't likely to come to market if DJI sues manufacturers for unauthorized products... For all we know, licensing fees could be enormous, and without competition, manufacturers have no incentive to improve on their products...

    • @chipt4
      @chipt4 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@@triggermovies I guess that's fair, though the air unit includes a DVR and diversity antennas.. To get those features in an analog setup, how much closer does that bring the two?

    • @triggermovies
      @triggermovies 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@chipt4 yes, we could try to compare exactly feature to feature, but it would be an exercise in futility imho.
In the end, most of us still carry a GoPro, and a lot of us would still use a separate radio.
There's no doubt that the complete DJI package is reasonably priced imho, and the upfront price is similar to an analog setup.
The price per extra quad is more, though, in my book.

    • @chipt4
      @chipt4 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@@triggermovies again, that's fair, but you'd be better off comparing it to the caddx vista (no DVR, single antenna) at $150 retail, $30 less than the air unit.
