Just a heads up to people thinking that this is just so easy.. You have to have a drone part 107 license to be able to sell any image or video captured with the drone. The regular drone license is just for recreational flying.. You need the commercial 107 part to be able to do anything involving MONEY with the drone.
yeah, and everything is up in the air with the mini 3 especially now that remote ID is in effect. apparently remote ID only works on the mini 3 if you purchase the bigger battery. you can still fly it unregistered with the normal battery which keeps the drone under 250g, but part 107 just got more complicated.
I think the 360 walkthrough is the most interesting. Nobody is doing that! Everyone sets the camera in the corner and does a still 360 and makes a semi-virtual walkthrough. What you've shown that can be done is awesome! It's an ACTUAL 360 walkthrough!
@@r3furbish3dbrain12 thanks for your response! @@paulsherman7031 Without editing you could just wear a helmet/hat + a mask and bland colors, like all black. That way you won't be identifiable and not going to be distracting and will look decent.
My realtor had something similar done for our house. She paid around $2500 for all internal and exterior photos and video. Dope process. The interior photographer made $1200ish in 1hr. The drone and AI imager made $1300 in 45min. Seriously considering going into this as a side gig.
Looks like as cheap as 300$ for aerial photos up to 1300 for full 3d package including indoor and outdoor and post-processing (much more than 1 hour of work). This is in so cal. Not sure where you are at and your realtor is paying nearly double. She may have just lied to you to appear as though she is investing more time/money(very common). Checked about 5 of the top websites on google for these prices.
Wow! That’s amazing!!! So say that’s 1-2 hours of getting the drone shots + getting the 360 video of inside and outside + let’s say 2 hours of editing. So my guesstimation would be 2-4 ish hours total making $500-$2500 depending. That works out to be about $125-$625 / hour. You do 4 clients a month that’s $2000-$10000 in a month. Then you double and do 8, that’s $4000-$2000 a month. Double and do 16 that’s $8000-$40000 a month. So yeah! Sounds like it could be really profitable once you have that influx of clients.
It depends on your area and the company. 2500 might be reasonable on a house worth several hundred thousand. In my area, you can get all those from the same guy for about 800$. Many firms are offering packages for real estate that include all of those things for progressively lower prices.
This concept and your presentation, are great examples of freelance/gig work. The area I live in is booming with new houses and subdivision development, and a service like this could be very valuable to both the developer, and future owners. In fact, the average person owns a home for around five years before listing it for sale again, there is potential to resale digital packages to each new owner.
not being a hater, just realistic, but who would see value in that video as a buyer of a residential property? I went onto the website in this video. It looks pretty average to say the least. I was hoping for a wow factor, but it's just not there. If I'm buying this property, I see no difference in the nerf compared to a standard circular drone video. Why would the seller of the property want to pay for something that they can get from a standard drone video? I like the walk-though 360 video. That was good.

As a DJI Mini 3 fanatic, this is a masterclass. Almost went down this same route for drone freelancing but decided against it because of other commitments - but this is exactly what I would've done to get started. The business system is so sick and your workflow is inspiring especially since the whole process is basically free. Would imagine there are some things you can leverage with the LumaLabs API / AI-based editing plugins, but this is seriously so rad. Earned a sub for sure - can't wait to follow your progress! Great video!
Hi Dylan, it is a wonderful video and inspiring, I am living in Finland and I am working to give this services and more, but need some help on how did you do with the website project since I see that is not a subdomain of your website. Really appreciate if you can help with this issue, I am using wordpress for my website, but I can change to squarespace if it's better, if you have a video about workflow and build this project it will wonderful... Thank you ALGERT
So in my opinion the drone is one of many tools your using to make 2500 per month. The real money maker is your video editing software and knowledge there of.
There’s also learning curve for all these softwares, cost of fly licence, course, cost (time) of planning the flight ahead, applying for permits where needed, acquiring client, and so on. On top of acquiring all the equipment. Meanwhile one’s gotta eat and pay rent.
How do you go about getting clients? Do you use personal connection, or is it more just cold emailing companies? What is your request to secured client ratio? Thank you for taking the time to make these videos, they are very helpful.
I'll drop in some tips. Real estate agents, real estate brokerage companies, title companies, social media, flyers, Facebook marketplace, connecting events etc.

One question I would have is location. Are you only doing this type of work close to your home, or have you gotten projects that pay well enough to travel onsite to their site? I've got a Mini 3 Pro and Mavic 3 that would be so easy to work into this.
Can you talk about how you pay for the websites? Can you have the domain up for a month then switch it? Are there packages where you can have multiple domains? Would love some more insight how you work with that considering properties are always coming up then being sold. Thanks!
If you used a Skydio 2+ with 3D Scan you could autonomously capture all of the data needed (and with better coverage) WHILE you do the interior scan with the GoPro. Heck, if the site is big enough, you could have the drone do the entire thing, walkthrough included, with KeyFrame.
This is actually incredible. I shoot real estate photography and use my drone everyday but no way did this ever pop into my mind as a service> Thanks Dylan
Hey mate, I live in UK and I'm thinking about starting a Real Estate Photography here, would you mind to share some informations, just so I can get my head around it please.
the biggest problem most will have is #1 finding the customers willing to pay for the service, #2 learning the software and building the website. The filming part is the easiest piece.
Dylan this is an exceptional video. I'm about to start using my drone to make some money on the side and you have answered a lot of my questions to get this side business started. I certainly appreciate you taking the time to help others get started. Many thanks.
What do you post to get the clients? Will you make something talking about this? What your profession is. And where we would be starting at the very beginning to get the client
As a pilot who flies GA aircraft, I am afraid of drones. I’m afraid of birds too, but birds are generally afraid of my plane and stay away from me, drone pilots may not be fully aware of my presence with no way to communicate with me. Geese are also big and pretty easy to spot compared to a small drone. Drones most definitely present a risk, but just not as big as people make them out to be. Very good video
Very, very cool! Excellent business model and very creative idea for a service! I wonder, how do you find clients if they don't live in your area? Do you go to every construction site and ask whose property it is? Or you have some sort of relationship with construction companies? Or you have aggressive online marketing? Thanks!
Good Stuff!!!! Thank You. I just sold my Mini 2. In your opinion should I get the mini 3 pro or the air 3 for projects like this one you showed. I’m not worried about cost. It’s more about comfort for me. Thanks
You have some great practical advice that I plan to use in getting my drone business going. I have thought of doing the same type of construction progress. Basically, you are solving a problem and saving your clients time and money. Any advice on how to find the property under construction and make contact with the person having it built?
Thanks for the informative video Dylan. I am working my way into this industry, and am currently building a portfolio. I have the all the gear, but am curious about the 360 max video. How are you able to share basically an unrendered video without any set frames? All my max videos need to be rendered in app to be shareable.
Great video honestly. I've been involved in a couple projects on my own. This is great but something of value you should add or cover, is where to find those new clients? After one project is done where do you find your next client? I was fortunate and have an inlaw who is a project manager, but to continue, it would be nice to know where.
Great video! Two questions; 1. Do you document the building every week, from start to Finnish for this client? 2. I don't see the benefit the customers have of the photogrammetry/NeRF model? Keep up the good work!!
In that situation I can, because the customer can see the work that is being done and how far along the restoration is going and can possibly see any issues or problems and be able to contact the contractor 5k miles away and have it addressed.
@@lpskywalk I think it's having the ability to look at a specific angle opposed to having to stop the video at a specific point. They could say "I want to quickly look at the front and back" and quickly turn the model around to see the front and back of the house in a matter of seconds rather than looking for those shots in the video.
@@lpskywalkFair questions. It's good to have an understanding of the full benefits to be confident in offering this service yourself. I wonder how a snappier this month vs last month side by side could be configured without having to have the client split screen pages off the website.

This service absolutely has commercial or industrial applications that work perfectly. You would obviously use better software for those industries and certainly charge more...
@@DylanGormanDylan great video congrats but something I didn't understand really, you mentioned for the 2 houses clients will pay 500$ monthly, why would they pay monthly for the job you did once only ? Thank you

Looking to get into Photogrammetry using DroneDeploy and curious if I should look into the Air3 or go with the Mavic enterprise mostly just to get the autonomous flight option. Do you think it's worth putting thousands extra into autonomous flight or would getting the new air3 be very sufficient to capture the renders and volumetric data with DroneDeploy?
With Drone Deploy processing you can use any drone. For capturing data with their app you need specific drones that they highlight on their website. For accurate data you need an RTK or GCP setup. Too much to explain over a simple reply but those are the basics. The Air3 won’t get you accurate data but will get you pretty data
If you aren't focused on capturing artistic shots with a compressed background and foreground from the 3x lens or wildlife shots where you would use the 3x zoom lens to avoid getting too close and scaring an animal, you could save yourself a lot of money and get the Mini 3 Pro, which has the same main camera as the Air 3.
First rule in acquiring clients is building trust. Easiest way to build trust is to offer something valuable for free. Less cryptic version: Do it for free and offer it to several customers for an honest review? Really cool things start to happen after that. They may actually refer people to you. They themselves might see an ongoing need for that service. You get to start building your portfolio of actual real world application of your service than now you can leverage of social media, TH-cam or Run Ads with. I always start simple. If you have a good product, give it away for free to valid that you think is good, others also think is good. After you validate, you promote and network, rinse and repeat.
Very good video Dylan. One of my first "lessons" from you was using the Mini 2 with Maps Made Easy. I used it to create a 3d model at my home, then I did another using Agisoft Metashape. Similar to what you show here, I'm trying to use all free or inexpensive tools due to this being a hobby and no real income yet. I have picked up some roof inspections with Bees360, but that is about it. I am actually in a new subdivision in Middle TN and people move here from the north east, California, Illinois, etc. on a daily basis. I need to walk down the street (literally) and do this on one of the homes under construction, then I could walk in the model home and show the agents what can be done, and maybe they could pitch this to their clients that are building the homes? It's worth a shot! Recently sold the Mini 2 and picked up the Mini 4 Pro. Looking forward to see if you have any videos coming up about it. Thanks again.
@@SoyPorteroYT the method that he shows in this video works perfectly. Luma Labs AI is awesome. I do not have the 360 degree camera for interiors yet and I have not created a website yet, but the drone footage to 3d model is really neat. Great work as always! As your mentioned, getting the clients is probably the hardest part. Who would you say for services like this, would be best to target?
Thank you Juan! I think this is a video that I need to consider making now. To date I have about 400 comments asking that same question. I will get to the drawing board and write out a video that I think would help with this.
Hi Dylan, just started watching your videos so not sure if you have made one on this but I am looking at starting up a business in this industry and one thing that I am struggling with is working out how to charge clients. If you could provide some insight, it would be much appreciated.
He’s got a video on that bud, it’s titled something like how to charge for jobs in 2023 or something along those lines. It’s a year old but it’s still relevant now. Another tip is call around a few drone companies etc Google search get free quotes in your area and you can get a good idea on what people charge
I'm an inherently negative person and see things for how they are and usually call people out for their bullshit. This is not the case. Great and informative video. Love the idea. Keep posting drone ideas like this! 👍✊👊
Thanks for the video Dylan. One thing I noticed though, with the 360 video, is that behaves differently on a phone than it does on anything with a bigger screen. If you stay on the project website, the 360 vid is "fishbowl" and you have no control over the view. However, when you open it in TH-cam, then the view is normal but the only way to change the perspective is by moving the phone around! I set up my own sample project site to show to prospective clients. I noticed this happening with the 360 vid and thought I had done something wrong until I went back and checked your project site. Not a show stopper and I haven't checked it on a larger "pro" phone either.

Despite what some lazy and get rich quick cry babies have been posting, your information and content has been spot on and has been a huge help in me figuring out setting up, stream lining, and getting started with my own drone business. Please keep up the great work and information. It's really appreciated!
Hey Dylan, this video really got my excited. Photogrammetry is where I eventually want to end up, but, this seems like a way I can maybe make some extra money to build up to that. Thank You for making this video. One question I am wondering, for the $500/month per property, do they get one update or multiple updates and how many property updates are covered by that $500 before more money is charged. I don't want to undersell what you are doing. They are building like mad here in LV and this seems like a good opportunity!
I’m not on board with helping foreign clients buy up American property, that’s already been devastating for both the US and Canada. However guess it depends on the circumstances, if it were someone in another state or someone who will be moving in themselves that would be more reasonable. Nice channel though and thanks for the tips.
As long as those property purchases are legal and lucrative they will happen whether we take the work or not. I have mixed feelings about some of the work I do but I recognize that refusing the work will not make any difference. To make a difference I think our effort is better spent telling policymakers that we don't like the policy. Honestly, I'm not confident that telling policymakers makes any difference either because they're looking out for things other than us. Still, refusing the work won't help 😞 I do admit that if somebody just feels better by turning down certain jobs, that is an important factor.
I’m in the service business but I hear what you are saying. It’s the world that we live in so if I can make money to get by then I’ll do so by economical means
It's easy to create that content but hard to get stupid clients who will pay you for that and that much. But nice dream and awesome, if you make already money with that!

Guys this is illegal in the usa. Don't do this without a Part-107 license(Equivlent of a driver's license but for unmanned aircrafts) You can fly drone as a hobbyst as much as you want, even post the video's on youtube. But when you start selling the content you make on a drone, or fly a drone for any business related thing, that is a completly different story. Even though the drone is under 249 grams, and does not need a drone license plate, it still does need the Part-107
I don't believe he mentioned anything at any point in this video that you should do this without a Part-107. He is showcasing how he does it technically. That's it. If someone finds it intriguing they should continue the research.
Very nice. I have the OM6 with my current iPhone 13 Pro Max soon the iPhone 15 Pro max. I have the Air 2s and my newest addition DJI Mavic 3 Classic. I am learning Final Cut Pro still so my videoing doesn't suck! That perspective of doing all those different shots and that app in the end creating them is crazy. How does that all work when the customer zooms in on the model? Does it all look like on piece go from the outside to the inside? Thank you for the video! I am trying to learn a bit at a time to get some good skills so I can do almost any job. My brother who is a fellow 107 brought up something called, "Drone Mapping" which I looked up and seems really cool. I just wonder is it something that would really get used and in a case like this could it do most of the work for you here and all you would primarily have to do is the inside job?

Amazing video, very helpful information for 107 pilots! I have some questions When pitching a potential client, who do you suggest starting with? What is their job title/ role in the construction project? Do you suggest contacting the developer of the construction project? Builder? Owner? Subcontractor? Curious which you would start with, and which person at that company would be better to contact? Once you have decided on the ideal potential client to pitch to, how do you find their contact info? Do you typically call, email, or set up a video chat to demo the website for a client? Thank you! Cam
@dylangorman just to confirm, the 3D walk throguh is prepared using your gopro software that came with the camera, not another software. Luma AI did not like my interior photos ;). It also did not like my test capture of a cell tower, too many gaps in the lattice structure. I think I have work around to take more higher angle shots which shows lattice gaps against ground vice the sky. TIA
Subscribed! Thank you for this great video. Never mind the negative comments. I would like to try this. Quick question. Can you see any advantages with the Mini 3 Pro over the Mini 3 for what you're doing here? I'm going to pick one up soon and don't really want to spend extra money if it's not cost effective.

I recently retired and looking at getting the mini 3 pro drone but need a reason to justify the cost really. I live in Devon in the UK and we have some lovely old properties open to the public and also various camping sites and air bnb's. My thoughts are to ,maybe, capture some aerial video of these places and put them on a you tube channel with a water mark. Then approach the property owner and say "Hi, I recently took some aerial video of your property which turned out pretty good" then try to sell them the footage to use in their advertising, without watermark of course. What would your thoughts be on doing this to get started?
Awesome video. Thank you much for sharing it. Would you please create a video as to what are you best tips for pitching clients from the get-go? Are these contracts you set with clients? How are the agreements disclosed? Does the client set the amount of weeks to drone-shot the site or do you do that? Please advise and thank you.
Excellent videos Dylan! One question: Using the GoPro Max and GoPro Player how did you create the click and drag walk through video of your building? Is the a webpage or TH-cam video that shows how? Keep up the great work, thanks!

Hello, curious to know what program you embedded your 360 video on. I love the idea of having a video and being able to move around the room when you pause it
What is your method of finding clients for these types of projects? What's your marketing presentation? ...and where and how do you present your service(s) towards said potential clients? Do you hookup through realtors?
This is a fantastic question. There is no “one method” to securing a client. It takes a trial and error as some will respond to cold calls, warm intros and even simply just offering them in person/ on the job site a sample to get them to bite. Having a portfolio (even if it’s of your own home or a friends home) can be the place to start. Looking for a developer that is building several homes in a neighborhood can also be a gold mine.

Dude this is an amazing video. Thank you for being transparent and taking the time to make it. Cheers!
If you want something bad enough, none of those things listed should stop you.
how do you get clients? also how do you get to there from a beginner?
How do you go about getting clients? Do you use personal connection, or is it more just cold emailing companies? What is your request to secured client ratio? Thank you for taking the time to make these videos, they are very helpful.

If you used a Skydio 2+ with 3D Scan you could autonomously capture all of the data needed (and with better coverage) WHILE you do the interior scan with the GoPro. Heck, if the site is big enough, you could have the drone do the entire thing, walkthrough included, with KeyFrame.

Hi, Great Video. Only one problem the Luma Ai no longer works for creating 3d videos. It doesn't support video as a data to be upload.
the difficult part with this sort of stuff is not the skill. the difficult part is getting the client.
Thanks for your info Dylan. Most informative commercial drone channel on TH-cam. Great work!
Glad you enjoyed it!
You have some great practical advice that I plan to use in getting my drone business going. I have thought of doing the same type of construction progress. Basically, you are solving a problem and saving your clients time and money. Any advice on how to find the property under construction and make contact with the person having it built?
Send it up out of hours and turn up next day asking for the site manager, it may be just the thing they're looking for.
Thanks for the informative video Dylan. I am working my way into this industry, and am currently building a portfolio. I have the all the gear, but am curious about the 360 max video. He does it at 10:50 :)
Only if you want to make flat video. You can also save video as 360 without any editing
Any tips on how to acquire clients on this?
Great video honestly. I've been involved in a couple projects on my own. This is great but something of value you should add or cover, is where to find those new clients? After one project is done where do you find your next client? I was fortunate and have an inlaw who is a project manager, but to continue, it would be nice to know where.
Just unboxed my DJI Mini 3 today! Your video was super helpful and gave me lots to think about for my own business. I appreciate it!
@@BlueDroneBlues But I don't see how the photogrammetry/NeRF shows it better than photo or video.
@@lpskywalk I think it's having the ability to look at a specific angle opposed to having to stop the video at a specific point.
How much is course?
Hey hey! Just wondering how to approach new clients or rather how did you get paid when you didn't have a track record?
Did you do it? How was the result?
@@SoyPorteroYT the method that he shows in this video works perfectly. Luma Labs AI is awesome. I do not have the 360 degree camera for interiors yet and I have not created a website yet, but the drone footage to 3d model is really neat.

Still, refusing the work won't help 😞

My brother who is a fellow 107 brought up something called, "Drone Mapping" which I looked up and seems really cool. I just wonder is it something that would really get used and in a case like this could it do most of the work for you here and all you would primarily have to do is the inside job?
On larger scale mapping is great, but for something like this using a free software is the way to go.

I have some questions
When pitching a potential client, who do you suggest starting with? What is their job title/ role in the construction project? Do you suggest contacting the developer of the construction project? Builder? Owner? Subcontractor? Curious which you would start with, and which person at that company would be better to contact?
Once you have decided on the ideal potential client to pitch to, how do you find their contact info? Do you typically call, email, or set up a video chat to demo the website for a client?

Hey Dylan ! sick video brother. Question and I hope you can answer this simple question. What type of camera did you use for record your self in this video?
I recently retired and looking at getting the mini 3 pro drone but need a reason to justify the cost really. I live in Devon in the UK and we have some lovely old properties open to the public and also various camping sites and air bnb's. My thoughts are to ,maybe, capture some aerial video of these places and put them on a you tube channel with a water mark. Then approach the property owner and say "Hi, I recently took some aerial video of your property which turned out pretty good" then try to sell them the footage to use in their advertising, without watermark of course. What would your thoughts be on doing this to get started?
Great video and great idea. You forgot to mention that you need a FAA part 107 license to do this as you are flying your drone commercially.

Excellent videos Dylan! One question: Using the GoPro Max and GoPro Player how did you create the click and drag walk through video of your building? Is the a webpage or TH-cam video that shows how? Keep up the great work, thanks!
Just a TH-cam upload and embeded on the website.
I though this will be some another random video talking about some normal stuff without showing anything. Oh boy. Well done mate. Great video
I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Would the DJI spark work for now until I get a new one? What do you like to use to send image files to clients ?
I just started doing this job, and I would like to know what you did to change the URL for your projects to make them accessible to clients? Does I need a plan, and if so, which one should I get?
Awesome video! I would love to know what you recommend for pitching and what that initial proposal to a potential client looks like!
Great vid. As a netsuite consultant, I make 1000 usd per day. Mostly sitting in meeting rooms, being treated to the best foods and hotels. I travel in Business class. I heard that SAP consultants make 3x this amount. So I guess ERP/ CRM/ Bi consulting can make you very rich, very fast. It took me a diploma in Business management, 2 years as an auditor, 4 years as an accountant and 2 years working with a NetSuite consulting firm to get all I needed to be worth 1000 USD/day.
But now I see electricians, plummers, painters earn half of what I earn (I'm 45) but with just a 3 month course. I guess govt. printed so much money, anyone can become rich doing almost anuthing than a 9 to 5 job.
Good question! Up
Drone photography is not profitable. Realtors got their own drones.
Realtors also mostly fly illegally too.
The 3d elements on your website for this project seems to work better for me in Crome than Firefox. Is this normal or a problem with the Firefox browser on my computer? Were you able to just embed the .360 file into the website? Great video
@@hungryj5340 Yep, it's superior since it doesn't constantly ask you to disable the adBlock like Chrome has started doing in the newer versions. It's also the only other browser aside from Safari that isn't a skin of Chrome.
For that, where do you find clients and how do you pitch them? Also, the $500 per month fee is for how long of a duration? How many weeks is each built of house?
an you go over a few potential ways to hook up with a client? Is it the realtor? or the construction GC? Who do you contact to make the sale?
Hey! Love the video! I wanted to say, I cant seem to see where to use photogrammetry on lumalabs, was it removed?
