Thank you Dr. Fields for your instructive videos & demos. Doing the tmj, CPAP etc. Therapy has saved me. My tongue, face etc was spasming so bad I couldn't eat, then talk. I pass on your info often + your many other healthy routines you teach! Sincerely Sheila
@@dradamfields Yes I will mister Fields ! Paris is wonderful, the whole France also. I'm very fond of USA, California (1982) and east coast also. NYC...Boston... One day I hope I ll travel through USA. And follow your exercises in live ! Best regards from Normandy.
I have frozen shoulder for 10 years, did everything from PROLO, Shockwave, steroids directly into the shoulders , trigenics etc. etc. No change. Both shoulders. Of course the Doctors want to do a shoulder replacement. Have you had ant cases like mine?
It is 11:22 AM on January 14, 2024 and I had an ORIF of my right humerus I fractured at the surgical neck and I am about 12 weeks out now but developed adhesive capsulitis and I love doing your videos and I did them faithfully along with going to formal PT but I still got the adhesive capsulitis And it’s my understanding it’s more common in women, I’m 58 years old but I do not have any other chronic diseases I am 122 pounds 5 foot six and an excellent health… why??
Very useful but what exactly is a frozen shoulder or an unstable shoulder, how do they feel? Do the cervical knots add to the symptoms of a frozen shoulder? I have a body back buddy S shaped tool with small balls and points which I use on the floor to undo the back knots, hurts like hell. Thank you, great videos Adam.
Dr. Adam how do we get frozen shoulder? How do we move through life and not do things that give us further injury? The manipulation under anesthesia had horrible outcome for me, more pain and and my collar bone on that side was sticking out. That was years ago. I feel it did me damage. There was an assembly line of middle aged women going through the same procedure. I went to pt and the practitioner moved my arm in a way that caused pain that made me yelp.and a large black n blue appeared. I switched pt and that therapist said that he felt there was a strong emotional component. He said many of the mostly women patients had a traumatic incident that they were also recovering from. That was true for me. What do you think? Thanks, you are terrific 💕
1:20 I believe I have frozen shoulder because the pain is underneath the acromion I guess it is? I have to take two Advil if I want to sleep. Fortunately my strength was pretty good and I was pretty limber from yoga but I can't do yoga now, but hopefully soon. I'm going to ask for the shockwave therapy. Is that what it's called or is it like acupuncture with electric needles? I've had that for my back years ago. Ooh, i have a pullup bar 🍺
Technique matters. To the best of your ability, put your hand behind your back to draw out the supraspinatus tendon from underneath the acromion when getting the ESWT. And BY ALL MEANS ROLL YOUR SUBSCAPULARIS LIKE CRAZY!
I had shockwave therapy done here in Amarillo for my shoulder pain. After the third therapy session, my shoulder pain got way worse and I stopped it. Is it possible they did something wrong? I don't want to do it again if it is going to make things worse for me. I have had an MRI and have a slightly frayed rotator cuff, bursitis, and adhesive capsulitis. I'm scheduled to go to PT next week and am a little worried that may make things worse as well. A friend sent the link to your exercises, which I plan to start.
Hi Karla, It's the correct treatment but it could be the wrong machine. I use a Piezowave which is very specific. Radial shockwave can be good but not when you need more specificity. This may be the case with you. Also, you may have a high inflammation in your body from gut issues, etc. This can cause a flare up from the shockwave but it is rare. I wish you were in California.
Hello sir thanks you for such good i have frozen shoulder my hand is not going back my elbow is not bending to turn back its hurting badly when i try since 4 months i am suffering
Thank you for this video. I have had frozen shoulder for 2 years I’m almost through it but my neck keeps locking up where the neck connects with the shoulder. Preventing full release. Neck pain & locking is a constant frustration with any exercise even yoga. Any help advice?
Very good question. I'll give a couple highlights on that from my own experience. Realize that they can overlap and that most people over 50 have some tear in their shoulder. Rotator cuff tear- Can have grinding, popping and clicking. You can lift your arm on your own but can have pain. Obviously visible on MRI. Impingement- Assuming this is calcific tendonitis at the supraspinatus tendon, there will be palpatory pain at the acromion and limited passive raising of the arm with pain at the acromion. X-ray will, often, show a calcification in the tendon. Risk factors that increase the chance of developing calcific tendinitis include; hormonal disorders, like diabetes and hypothyroidism, autoimmune disorders, like rheumatoid arthritis, and metabolic disorders that also cause kidney stones, gallstones, and gout. Here's a video on ESWT & Calcific Tendinitis th-cam.com/video/hmPxklpNDFQ/w-d-xo.html Frozen Shoulder- This is called adhesive capsulitis. The joint capsule has adhesions in it. There are 3 stages and the arm cannot be lifted or is very challenging to lift with limitation. Risk factors are an immobilized shoulder, diabetes, heart disease, having a surgery in the area, hypothyroidism, smoking, cancer and more. Video on ESWT and frozen shoulder th-cam.com/video/Fz36XjLwkNY/w-d-xo.html
@dradamfields thank you for the detailed response. I have MS and hypothyroidism, which I recently discovered can inhibit the recovery process. I'm shocked that my PT did not mention this to me. I started doing exercises I've found online, and I am getting better results than with in person physical therapy. I fell in January and didn't have any major pain. In May, I was squatting down cleaning up something on the floor, raised my left arm and I guess I shifted just right, a stabbing pain bolted down my arm and ever since my ROM and discomfort escalated substantially. X-rays showed nothing, and I feel better after doing stretches and exercises. I'm doing a routine twice a day, followed by icing my shoulder. I also have been using my massage gun because I feel something pinching in my upper back. Usually, afterward, I feel better. I also have a hook massage bar, I press against that spot and move my arm around (old trick an acupuncturist taught me). Can the massage gun break up any calcifications in the shoulder?
Hmmmm...I am suspicious of the diagnosis as it happened so suddenly. Get to a chiropractor that works with extremities. I would love to know what mobilizing your humerus from medial to lateral with a mobilization strap would do. Otherwise get on that subscapularis muscle. You are a brave person who has been forced to look straight in the face of a daunting diagnosis. May God bless your inner and outer journey. @dradamfields I've been diligent with the stretching and exercises for the last couple of days, and I feel improvement. Unrelated question. I have foot drop, however it's not 100% from weakness. My Achilles tendon is so tight it pulls my toes downward. Even if someone pushes on my foot, it won't flex towards me. My neurologist suggested a massage gun down the side of my leg, but my PT said that didn't make sense. I can't gain strength because I don't have flexion. I started resting my heel on a block so my toes could point down, and then I raise my toes up towards my body. However, that doesn't address my tight tendon. I hope I am making sense.
If I understand correctly, I think you should find someone that does ESWT on the achilles. Also, with the MS and the hypothyroidism, I would get checked for an autoimmune. If that's positive, let's get together on a telehealth call and help you. www.fieldsfamilychiro.com
