Great video I watched it a few times before installing it on my ram. I took your idea but just bought the trailer end of the plug and wired the light strip to it so I wouldn’t have to cut into the factory wiring harness. All in thank you for the run down.
Thanks for the video, just finished the install on my ram 1500, I also tied in a wireless backup camera while I had everything apart. Your video and especially the wiring description was extremely helpful!
a little tip for anyone.... if your running light does not work on the LEd strip it can be caused by your after market tail lights... i had to cut a cable out of mine cause it was causing a shorth in the circuit for the running cable. took me 2 days to figure it out.
Great video. What is the long terms review of the light bar? Also my bigger concern is say you have a puncture, how do you lower the spare tire? Does the light bar cover the access hole do the tool?
Thanks and I had it on my truck for 4 Vermont winters and it was fine. I had issues with cheaper ones in the past. And there is room to put it either above or below that access hole.
I have a strip of lights that I'd like to connect for just brake lights with no blinkers or reverse lights, what wires would I have to splice it with for thag
I have mine connected to the 4 pin connector and the reverse light wired into the tail light. Problem is....running light works, brake light works, left and right signal works,but...when im on the brakes, only the right signal flashes, but not the left. They both work when not on the brakes.
Thanks a lot for the video, it was helpful, just install the strip light last night on my 2013 GMC Sierra, I used to have it plugged in to the trailer connection but didn't like the way it looks so I did exactly what you did. Thanks.
I have a 2016 led gmc Sierra brake lightni installed a aftermarket lightnincutnthe factory bung dornled stock brake light what is ground i have brown red and green and black wires
Not very sure what some of those words were lol... But if you asking about the ground its most likely the black. You can also just run your ground to an frame metal.
I just wired mine in on my 2018 ram 2500 and when I step on the brake it turns solid orange then switches to red… scratching my head on that one. If anyone knows what is going on please let me know
Yes mine does the same thing it flashes orange quickly then goes to red. Not sure either why im wondering if its a safety feature of the light for more warning on a hard break? i have noticed it's only when I apply the break quickly.
Where did you connect the red brake light wire? I got mine turning left and right, but when I hit the brake. It's just fires both blinkers like I had my hazards on.
Mine did the same, I think it senses if it’s a quick signal like when your blinkers are going. So if you do a really quick break tap it will trick it. If you hold the break for more than a second then it’s red.
@@GreenMountainProjects Mine work untill I press the brake, then once I release the brake the blinkers blink again. The light bar is hard wired and works great otherwise. 2013 Chevy Tahoe. Any ideas please on how to solve that issue I'm going nuts trying to sort it out. Thank you for replying and Thanks for the help.
i bought other brand light strip but same pins. i do not know why if i press the brake pedal the light does not work. I connected the red led to the running lights.
the 7 pin trailer plug includes a reverse light. Just google wire diagram for an 7 pin trailer plug. Reverse should be the center pin which is pin #7. If you don't have the 7 pin plug on your truck and you just have the 4 pin plug then you will need to tap into the reverse light wire on a tail light.
@@GreenMountainProjects on my light strip i only have 4 wires Black ground with a fuse attach to the wire and yellow is turn signal, red is parking light ,and white door assist and on the trailer hicth the wires are different
I would take it and trade for a Ram personally... lol just kidding. Plugging this in is basically putting it into towing mode and that’s why those shut off so a trailer isn’t constantly making them go off. There might be a way to override it or an adapter for fords. Let me know if you find one!
I wanted a more perminant wiring location and just didnt liked the look of the wires poking out and running into the bumper. Another reason is I have a trailer with a 4 pin so I could still use that without the 7 to 4 adapter.
I have one. I was trying to figure out how to hook it up because the instructions that came with it are garbage. I watched your entire video, it was helpful up until the point where you skipped putting the wires together. You just went right to them being taped up. That was the part that I was looking for. Thanks anyway.
Bro u just did double the work that is needed to do this…I was like what are u doing!!!! Then u actually took off ur whole tailgate wtf dam bro work smart not hard
If you already know how to do this then why would you be watching this video...Bro? If your considering just plugging the normal plug in and having it look like crap then that's your choice to be lazy. I am also making videos for an audience and I am paid by youtube to do it... taking an extra 30 seconds to remove a tailgate so the camera can see better is worth it.
You said it looks good at night, that’s an understatement . It looks amazing. Nice job.
Thank you, brother. I just installed mine following your instructions, and i was able to have everything working correctly. Thanks again

Where did you get the plug or adapter from

That’s what I like to hear!
Well done sir. Restored my confidence. 👍
Good video of the light kit and your installation! Gonna get one for my brother in law as a gift for his F-150
Great video.....I see you're from NH. I live up in Conway.
Sweet, I'm from around the Portsmouth Exeter area. I have spent a lot of time up your way.

Are you still able to access the spare tire lowering/raising bolt once this led strip is mounted?
Yes it just goes right above it
Thank you for the response.

@GreenMountainProjects I found the wite that signals the stop finally. Had to use my Haynes manual and figure out a few of the symbols.
All in all helpful video but I Didn’t even have to cut them I just used some funky splice connectors I found and taped that all up
Those work too somewhat. I don't use them due to high salt use in the winters by me bc they will not last.
Have you had any issues with your truck detecting a trailer hooked up? I just wired mine in and detects a trailer hook up
No, can’t say I ever did. Somehow you are having a heavy draw.
Does the backup light affect your camera at night? Like does it white it out?
Not at all it actually makes it way easier to see it gives off a good amount of light
They do sell 7 pin to 4 pin adapters
Why didnt you tap into the 4 pin?
Can I ask what motor you have? Since I didn't recognize the sound of exhaust
5.7 hemi
@@GreenMountainProjects What exhaust do you have?
do your turn signals stop working when you press on the brakes and start working again as soon as you let off the brake?
Yes they keep working.

Hi, did you only use electrical tape to connect the wires together?
No you will want to get crimp connectors and shrink wrap tubing to put over it.
I just finish installing mine, but idk when running light is on, only one line of lights turn on, not all 3 lines of lines.
i think that is normal. one is amber for the turn signal and the other is the break light to make it brighter.
@@GreenMountainProjects thank you
How doya like the reverse light....?.....bright huh...??

Did you connect to to the 8 pin connection or to the tail lamps wiring? Ik mine were connected to the break/blinker wire
Did you have to connect the reverse light to the taillight separately?

can you connect this the same way if you are running the lights on the running board on a 2004 GMC yukon
Yeah you can wire them into the trailer wiring like I did
@@GreenMountainProjects the colors are different

I ID the wires , cut them and connect the led , but for some reason right turn wont work , I tried the wires and they all have power
Weird, if you tested that wire and it works then it must be the light. I would swap it out and re try
I did the same on a2016 F150 and now the blindspot assist turned off, says a trailer is attached, and also no more park assist. How can I fix this?

Just curious why you used a 7 pin & not the stock4 pin on the truck?
I have the same lights & plug into the 4 pin receptacle

Hey can anyone forward me a connection sheet or where the plugs can be found - mine arrived sans install sheet and plug!!!!
I cant get my reverse lights to work on the strip I ordered
Everything else works as it should, your video was very helpful thank you btw
I would test it on a drill battery and if it doesn't work the strip could be faulty.
Excellent video!!
How is the light holding up? Still working? Still happy with it?
Great no issues so far and it’s been 7 months!
@@GreenMountainProjects How about now?
annoying how the orange indicators light up with the brake light. be good if it could just work like a normal brake bulb - low red and high red.
Very nice ! Congrats
The most important part! You didn’t show us how you spliced the wire
Go to time stamp 5:58 into the video I actually did lol
You could use T-taps instead of splicing the wires in.
Yes that’s an option.
Awesome!!! Outstanding job dude!!!
Buen video, pero agradecería si le pusieran subtítulo saludos desde México
It's a shame they only last 12 months in the silicon goes all foggy and white why haven't they invented some other way to cover them up
Depends on the product mine lasted till I sold it and had it for 1.5 years and that was two winters in Vermont.
You made the entire video, but didn’t show which sites got to the light bar. That was the most critical part I was looking for……
Amazon, there are tons of them.

Does everyone else just know how to wire and have a soldering iron?
Signal lights work,
Brake lights don't work
Running light works
Brakes don't work
Might be a faulty product. I have noticed they can be weird with the break lights and recognizing the signal.

Junk…..
That’s a weird comment very lucrative…..
Can this be instaled on suv without trailer wiring
Yes you can wire it to the tail lights. Your just gonna have to figure out which wire does what function.
