He roasted his own award😃
Because he didn't want it
@@jerrelljones9991 I hope he burned the award.
@@dusthue probably so
Was a bullsht award and he called them on it. Was epic 🍷
@@holdiver307 My favorite part was when he was interviewed afterwards in the press room and he goes, "It's not even a full poster." 🔥🎯🍷
The world honestly lost a little bit of it's light when he left us.
Imagine how darker the world would be without him, one of a kind.
So true I'm still devastated
He died on my birthday :(
Yes. Miss him everyday
Indeed.
Especially when you realize that he is one of a rare few of celebrities who did NOT talk trash about our country!
He took the time and had the patience to remain silent to show respect for the flag.
It’s all the more honorable when he was interrupted to do so in the middle of one of HIS SHOWS!
Mad respect for the mad genius!
Robin Williams is one in a million. He was my favorite comic and actor. He was so versatile, it was astonishing how he excelled in comedy, drama, and anything he did. I wish he was still here, to make me laugh. Bless you Robin. Rest in Peace, Robin M. Williams.
One in a million? No, no no no. Not even close.
One in a BILLION.
Yeah, I super *love* his racist stand up routines and impersonations
Yeah, I love the guy because he influenced my childhood so much. But don't inflate him like that. He wouldn't have liked it. He was a great guy, but he wasn't a perfect die. And he died because his brain never reconciled the two. Don't make the same mistake
He is here. Legends never die!!
Watching this makes me smile and feel as though I might start crying at the same time. Miss you Robin.
bignoknow f
bignoknow me too... 🙁 there will never be another Robin Williams in our times. Only him.
bignoknow I feel the exactly the same!
The way Disney treated Robin makes me so mad yet Disney is my favorite set of movies. Shame on Disney.
bignoknow Same here...😢
The man was LITERALLY in a league of his own.
This made me cackle, thankyou 😂
I know! Imagine you're a voice actor, and you pull off an at-the-time unconventional voice performance for the film (in the case of Robin Williams, he used his regular standup schtick, improvisational comedy and on-the-cuff impressions and characters, as an animated character voice) that leads to people saying you deserve an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
He had the fastest brain alive.
*****
No, actually Williams mentioned several times that for him cocaine had the opposite effect it does on everyone else: it slowed down his thinking, it didn't speed it up. He used it as a tranquilizer.
Sarah B
Exactly. He also never used it before live performances but as a private person.
he stopped doing coke after the 90's..
@ Pepe Is love - hardly the coke; he was a genius.
That is so true. He had brain went a million miles an hour. I really think it's what drove him, to do what he did. Dementia, especially the kind he had, would have robbed him of that fast mind. I think he just couldn't live with that fact. I miss him so much.
Goodbye Mork from Ork, goodbye Genie, goodbye Mrs. Doubtfire, Mr. Keating, Adrian Cronauer, Peter Pan, and on and on and on... I wish I had been able to thank you in person for SO MANY wonderful memories and laughs throughout my life. Your gift of being able to make us laugh so hard we were in pain in one movie, and then bring our hearts to tears in the next, will never be forgotten. Thank you so very much.
Wow, Bett Midller was gorgeous
Rest in powerful peace my favorite celebrity and homie 🙏

They just gave him a cutout from a school art project like he wasn't going to say anything 😂 He just owned everything he was ever in.
its actually a nice poster
It’s interesting that they show Will Smith listening to Robin Williams speech for winning a special achievement award for playing the Genie at 1:35, and now Will Smith will be playing the Genie in Disney’s live-action remake of Aladdin.
Literally about to say the same thing.
Ok I just found out about this like 2 days ago...but this comment is a year old. Damn! Someone is in the know!
Wouldn’t surprise me if they watched this footage and decided that since the two people were in the same video, he was good a person as any. Also, do you really think that they would have recast Aladdin‘s genie if Robin Williams had not killed himself from depression? They know they could never recast him, how could they not? If Robin Williams was not dead, he would’ve been in this movie. In all likelihood, this recast only happened because it had to.
@@christianali5431 I learned from this video that Robin Williams has bad blood with Disney. th-cam.com/video/nyiBdccfNkg/w-d-xo.html
Exactly
I miss Robin. The world really needs his humour and views of our crazy, messed up world.

No words will ever Express how much I miss him... and no amount of Time will heal the hole his passing left in my soul. R.I.P Robin Williams... thank you for making my childhood enchanting, fun, and magical.
what a genious...pure improvisation..
He legitimately did NOT want that award.
It's just a piece of cardboard because they wanted a free stand up routine from him.
He sure didn't want it notice he threw shade at Jeffrey Katzenberg
Because Disney screwed him over, that’s why. He didn’t mention them even once here lol
@@Unqualifiedmedicalperson I know that's why he didn't Robin should've made a contractual agreement
They wanted to give him something for his voice work on Aladdin, but didn’t want to give him a real award, so he got a big piece of cardboard.
Robin Williams is one of the few (and I mean few) people in this world who can make me laugh until I cry!
2:30 "I'd like to thank Frank Sinatra... just because HEY!" XD
Because there'd be no way in hell he'd thank Katzenberg or Disney in 1993
The man was a true gem. One of a kind. Still missed to this day
"Almost time for the puppet show"... that just killed me :) I miss you buddy
I really miss Robin he was such a great guy and great and funny actor. You will always be missed Robin
His acceptance of an award deserves an award
The irony of him receiving this award for his role in Aladdin as the iconic genie and the only actor they show in the audience was Will Smith who would ultimately almost 30 years later play the part just a few years after Robin's death.
He was so talented and one of a kind. The world will never see another like him again. A true genius of comedy
That's not really irony.
1:34 Classic Genie
1:35 Future Genie
I got chills! How weird and ironic.
Came here to comment the same thing... that's so weird but so amazing!
Maybe that's where they got the idea!
He's my favorite artist. Not only my favorite actor, or comedian. My favorite *artist* period
He was & will always be #1 comedian on & off cameras. Miss u man 💜
Robin Williams isn't dead, he's still in Jumanji waiting for someone to roll a 3 or 5.... RIP Legend
1:34 will smith taking notes
When Robin comes to speech everybody nudge alongside - "There he is coming. Let's watch"
Aw love him. He was so nervous, so sweet and awkward. Miss him.
I love how the showed will Smith while Robin Williams was getting a award for Genie who Will Smith is playing lol
1:34 Little did he know he would be playing that character
Robin Williams so shocked he was nearly lost for words, but never really lost, hilarious again and Bette Midler in a sexy dress, great legs and a rear flash. What a three minutes!
Miss you Robin. Your laughter will last for an eternity.
Lightning quick mind!!!!!
I miss you so much mister Williams 😢you make me feel better in a very hard times. god bless you angel
Robin Williams is AMAZING!!!! I found out about this speech thanks to SCB and omg just yes!!!
extremely sad how one of the funniest men in the world succumb to heavy depression. :(
R.I.P, Robin
Precious Vidad apparently that was a rumor and he died of some disease
It wasn't a rumor, his wife and the coroner confirmed it. His wife attributed the cause of the suicide was misdiagnosed Lewy body dementia, thought to be Parkinson's.
He was physically ill, keep your ideas to yourself.
.who said he did
Brilliant ,wonderful, genius, who is one the tops when it comes to comedy.
The guy was a category by himself , Robin Williams ( God bless his souls ) could make you laugh or cry with the same ease , enormously talented fella but most importantly a genius .
Never seen an actor like him , there is no comparison anyway and i don't think will ever be anyone as bright as him !
I miss you. The world suddenly turned a little darker. A lot of Robin's stuff is here. That's a good thing. Thanks for all the great moments you gave us.
Watching him is so much fun that I forget that he passed away. He shines and brings so much life to whatever he says.
Thanks again Mr. William for still makes me laugh in this hard world 🌎 . I ❤you.
Robin Williams was Such a loss. Hre was a genuis
Robin we miss you
Robin was one of a kind! He walked on this Earth bringing love, joy, humor, & oh man, he was one hell of an excellent actor as well. Rest in peace, dear Robin, you lit up this world just by being yourself. You will never be forgotten because you’re unforgettable. ❤❤
He made other people laugh bc he knew what it was like to frown so deeply, he was too busy making us smile that we never noticed. Honestly when a celebrity dies its sad, but it doesnt bother me bc it doesnt feel like theyre real ig but when robin died it bothered me so much he was, and will always live on in my heart, the greatest man
10yrs...i miss you so much. Thank you for helping me through some very BAD, SAD times. When i get weak, i try to think of you and your gifts. Rest in everlasting peace.❤️
We can no longer ever have a friend like him.
He gets in a nice dig to Katzenberg ("KatzenBUG") after his betrayal to Williams at Disney.
I just couldn’t believe that he took away the $75,000 plan. That is so uncalled for.
@@josephbonczyk3182 Well, they paid James Earl Jones around $6000 to play Darth Vader
Robin Williams is not dead, he's making kids happy around the world while dressed as a genie.
You know you're a legend when an award show creates a category just for you
And then they give him a piece of cardboard - an insult. Truly - they just wanted him up on stage to do his skit and liven up the evening. And, he didn't disappoint.
@@singtweetypie EXACTLY, THEY SHOULD HAVE GIVEN HIM A TROPHY.
@@twilightresonance1789 I know....the whole skit was hilarious.
After watching this video about... three or four times now, I can only IMAGINE how it would be like to have both Robin Williams AND Jim Carrey hosting either the Golden Globe or Oscar Awards. It would be a real BLAST!!!!!
Jim Carrey is a pain in the ass and a no-talent hack!
This man looks full of life everytime ,every performance
'it needs an organ donor' .. omg. :)! he is a legend!
The Best comedian ever!!! ❤️
Jesus Christ. Bam Bang Boom just like that. So awesome. WE ALL MISS YOUUUUU
Isn't it funny that Robin Williams done the voice of the genie and Will Smith is there in the awards as well, who will also be doing the voice of the Genie in the upcoming film?
Chris Tucker could give Will a run for his money
To see Robin now is hard knowing how badly, and for how long he was hurting.
No one will ever be able to be the genie like Robin. Those genies slippers Will be so hard to feel the I don't think anyone will ever be able to be good enough like Robin rest in peace Robin. We are all thinking of you
RIP Robin
Looking forward to SEE You Robin, thank you. Please let him RIP, Amen.
He really knew what it is TO love something or someone.
Watching Robin William accepting his award while Will Smith is in the audience gave me goosebumps!
That was 21 years ago. WOW!! Memories, like the corner. Of my mind.
This to mr Wiilliams Family. Robin was a gift to us and Personally I miss his persona his way with people and his genuine love of bringing people happiness. You live on just wish it could've have been in real life. Thank you Mr. William's and to his family thanks so much for sharing him with the world.
Two Genies have been spotted in this video. Wait, did he actually say Jeffrey KatzenBUG xDD
It was a shot at Katzenberg over what happened with Fernguly, where Katzenberg tried to sabotage production of that film because Williams didn't sign out of it after signing up for Aladdin. It also had to do with Disney using his character in a lot of promotional material when they promised not to use him in more than 25% of the marketing.
Did anyone else come here from supercarlinbrothers
Melissa Lofgren Yes, I was looking for this comment
me!
Yep
Yup
Melissa Lofgren yuuuup
3:05 Can we take a moment to talk about the shape of that Dick Clark logo... They know what they did.
It took huge balls to do that.
1:35 it's interesting how young Will Smith, at the beginning of his career, is watching the legend Robin Williams accepting his award for playing the Genie. And now 25 years later he will play the same character that made Robin the legend he'll forever be.
Robin was already a legend way before he voiced the genie. Popeye, Mork & Mindy, Good Morning Vietnam, all of his stand up career, Hook, and many other movies had already established his exceptional talent. Robin didn't need the genie for recognition. The genie needed Robin to stick out from the crowd.
He was a mega watt bulb, he lit us all up. Bless his soul
1.35: New Genie applauds Eternal Genie! 😊😊💓
The LEGEND!
I'm sure this has been said (again and again) but with the plethora of Animated features over so many years, will there be a time when the Globes and/or Oscars create a category for "Outstanding Achievement in Voice Acting"?
Now looking back, who would have been deserving of at least a nomination in this category? Just a few, in my humble opinion:
~Certainly this unparalleled genius honored in this video
~Eleanor Audley as Maleficent for Sleeping Beauty 1959
~James Earl Jones as Mufasa in The Lion King 1994
~Ellen Degeneres as Dory in Finding Nemo 2003
~Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story 1995
~Tom Hanks as Woody in Toy Story 1995
Don't want to hog them all so by all means...anyone's thoughts?
Congratulations all the best to you well done rest in peace amen
This was the greatest man in History to raise your Spirits he was God in my book, We are so lost with out this Special man, brought Joy to all
The world is empty without Robin Williams 🥺💔
May you RIP 🪦 AMEN 🙏🏻 😢
I miss him so much.
As so many of us do.
RIP
When the man of many words is lost for words..
HEY BROTHER!
Evan Rules I just came here
Came cuz of the saame reason
I guess Williams needed more love and care, but we didn't even know it. So sad.
Mental illness is not brought on by lack of love or care.
Love you, Robin R.I.P 😢❤
What i can say is that
I miss Robin Williams. He was part of my wonderful childhood. I'll never forget him.
there was a man who knew how to appreciate art work and express it. respect
Robin Williams will always be that great comdian
Miss you Robin!!! Love you!!
The word genius is over used, especially in Hollywood and the entertainment industry but Robin was a true genius. I think I am one of millions who miss his incredible whit and humour. Thank goodness we have items like this to watch his talent in action. I think that this should be shown to all those comedians that think they are funny but aren't so can then learn or get out of the business.
No1 actor superb absolutely brilliant sadly gone but out of his disapare funny funny guy RIP legendary Robin Williams
I have seen many of this brilliant man's speeches and in each one his wife looks so miserable whilst he's talking, even when he's announced as a winner... She's probably over the moon that he won and was such an amazing character to the world, but come one... Crack a smile or a clap... 😔
Comedians have their dark side. We will never really know what Robin's last days were like. God rest his soul.
Kathryn Molesa while watching this, the only question I could ask was whether or not Williams had schizophrenia.
What dark days he was sick
Yep thats Robin...In all his brilliance!
Katzenbug is the best off the cuff roast I’ve ever heard
Can you imagine… he won this back then for doing the Genie… and after he comes up to receive the award, the camera pans to Will Smith, who would one day take the helm to deliver his own take on the Genie. Fancy that.
Funny coincidence that they showed Will Smith because that is who is going to be the new Genie in the live action movie.
Omg! Will Smith and Robin Williams in the same room!
I would like to thank Robin!
Era verdaderamente encantador
The fact that when Robin got this recognition and the camera panned to Will Smith who took the role of the blue genie years after!!!
a very bizarre trophy.
"I'd like to thank Jeffrey KatzenBUG."
That was a "take that" comment to the former chairman of Walt Disney Studios, Jeffrey Katzenburg, because Katzenburg tried to sabotage the production of another animated film, Ferngully, just to keep Robin Williams in the role of the Genie.
Robin Williams only agreed to do the voice of the Genie if Disney used the Genie in 25% or less of the marketing material. But in Katzenberg's mind: "If Williams wants to be belligerent with me, I'm gonna break the deal." And this is where the infamous feud between Williams and Disney, in which Williams was more than happy to diss the Walt Disney Company every chance he got as long as they were using the Genie to make money. In one interview, Williams said:
"Not only did they use my voice, they took a character I did and overdubbed it to sell stuff. That was the one thing I said: ‘I don’t do that.’ That was the one thing where they crossed the line.”
If memory serves me correctly, Johnny Depp had misgivings with Disney for poor treatment as well
One of the few times that the passing of a celebrity truly hurt me like I lost a friend, was the day we lost Robin Williams.
Iconic
Happy Birthday Robin. We miss you !!
