So glad Billy Crystal was on stage to hold Robin afterward. Hugs are nice but being held by one who is truly unselfishly happy for you is a sense for the soul to rejoice in. Robin deserved such joy.
Well said and to put it another way a lot of times you see the phony smiles and hugs on these award shows but to see the glowing pride from bill crystal and his beaming smile over his best friend winning the Oscar was just so genuine that you have to be made of stone not to feel so joyous for both men

Still missing Robin very much. I don't think he ever did a performa:nce that I didn't love. He was a great talent and we were very lucky to have witnessed his all different characters over the years. A true gem! ❤️
This might be the one moment in Hollywood history that the runner-up's were happy they lost. He was the hero we didn't deserve. He's the only person everybody everywhere unanimously loved.
Robin was not just a zany guy. He was erudite, cosmopolitan, and philosophical. A true mensch. He was truly humble and full of gratitude. His embrace of Billy Crystal was a joyous recognition of brotherhood. Well deserved.

The next day, when Robin showed up on the set of Patch Adams, there was a surprise performance by the Glide Memorial choir. It was amazing. Robin so much deserved the highest honor of his profession, and I'll tell you how much he appreciated everyone who worked on his films. He wasnt like other actors in the biz, stand-offish or self-affected, he'd come up to a grip or a security guard, and ask, "How's it going Bob?" and know everyone by name and he made working on his films such an enjoyable and unforgettable experience. In fact, that day he showed up a little late after coming home to the bay area from the Oscars back to the set on the university of Cal-Berkeley, and at lunch he set his Oscar down in front of him. We were all overjoyed for him. I congratulated him and looked at the statue and said, "Can I hold it?" This was the fourth Robin Williams' film I had the pleasure of working on, so he just smiled and handed it to me. Wow! Talk about heavy. That thing weighed like 25 pounds. I handed it back to him and said, "Thanks Robin. Its about time they gave you one of these." He was on cloud nine that day. I think of him often and send Love to his amazing Soul. He was sui generis - absolutely one of a kind. The world needs more of his sense of humor and generosity (he was involved in numerous charities) and I hope he is at peace on the other side, because I know from conversations he certainly was bothered by the conditions and circumstances of the larger world around us. He gave his heart and soul to this world, and by the amount of appreciation his fans still give him, it was because he WASN'T 'acting' he truly enjoyed making people laugh. He was a magnificent example of charity and caring. I miss him.

I went to the same rehab clinic Robin went to -- not at the same time, but I knew that at one point, he came to the place I went to get help. I don't say that to name drop. I say that to share that every time I sat in the common room / kitchen, or one of the group discussion rooms, or walked the grounds to meditate and heal, I wondered what it would have been like to sit down with the man and hear some of his deepest thoughts, to share simple moments like a cafeteria meal with him, to be able to bond with him over common failings and struggles. Such a brilliant, silly, profound man, and so much pain inside. I miss Robin, and I miss George Carlin.

You know all u good people around the world...…..Robin maybe gone and we all shed tears for that....BUT we are all so lucky to be around and lived with the greatest talent of our lives...TY robin for touching all of our Heart and Souls.....!!
We shall never see his like again in our lives.
I love how the Oscars showed actual clips from movies back then, rather than trailers. Was so happy to view Robin Williams again -- .always cracking jokes at 90 miles an hour! And I liked Billy Crystal talking about Comic Relief. Thanks for posting this!
Thank YOU Robin . Very seldom can a person make us laugh and cry the same time. You are loved and you are
missed. RIP.
Something about the 80s/90s… actors, subject, movies.. there was abundance. Miss those immensely !!
imo the 70's and 90's had the best films
He really did forget to thank his mother....... Gone but never forgotten - RIP Robin.
Thank you, Robin. God bless you.
I miss his shtick, comic brilliance, his EVERYTHING public. So sad that he was so sad deep down. Rest in peace Robin and THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for all of your infinite laughs, brilliance, incredible intelligence and all else that made you the genius that you were.
His house should have been overloaded with oscar's, emmy's and other awards. He never got the recognition he deserved.
Yes. Robin Williams died and none of us ever knew what he did, all because we couldn't recognize him for it. He won four Grammys, an Emmy, and Oscar, and a bunch of other awards and you really think he never got the recognition he deserved?
You are very strange.

Do you think I'm strange?
Or am I strange?
You judge without knowing.
@@imcavdb5465 No.
Yeah. He deserved more. But we should be grateful he at least won an Oscar.
No but he got money!
You can tell Robin was blown away at receiving the Oscar, He was that moved getting it. And his fellow comedian, Billy Crystal giving him the warm felt congratulations was moving. And jokingly doing the Groucho Marx walk off stage was priceless. God, We all miss you Robin. The whole world seriously needs your wit and humor now.
RIP Mr. Williams, you were the best.
Robin will always be the brightest star in comedic Hollywood . No one matched his quick wit and creative talent. RIP Robin❤
Thumbs up if you shed a tear...
Two tears and boy were they real tears
