The Funniest Golden Globes Acceptance Speeches Of The Past 25 Years | TODAY Original
"we used to run the world before you" 🤣🤣🤣
And to be fair ran it a great deal better.
The US runs the world? They wish
@@NoNo-of8uo Doesn't really have anything to do with the Golden Globes.
Ricky
@@fishyc150 tell that to the British colonies
It's amazing how all those funny speeches were delivered either by British people, comedians or British comedians...
Brits have a rep for sarcasm, comedians specialize in comedy. I mean, outs no surprise
They only showed the more recent ones
Jim Carey,steve carrell, Robin Williams,
@@michaelstratton6701 Jim Carrey is Canadian.
@@LipeAzzi but he's NOT British
Bless Robin Williams. He helped that guy by entertaining the crowd for him until the winner arrived. What a class act!
I know. Actually cried after watching that 💙
I wish I could understand what he said. :'/
I always found him as funny as a burning hospital
@@ticketyboo2456 Man you have weird taste (kinda dark imo).
@Zeno Citium i was just making a joke in the sense that I think robin williams is automatically funny, so I reacted as if I thought he meant that burning hospitals were hilarious, that's it.
The background music is annoying while we should listen to the speeches

Soo true..
Had to turn off to something else
I am the funniest TH-camr of all time I watched my latest video and laughed for 69 minutes straight I am extremely funny I am dangerously funny and I have two girlfriends who think I am extremely dangerously funny and they watch all of my videos thanks for listening dear zan
It really is… 😂
hugh grant was so hugh grant in his acceptance speech
@Tom Sawyer Elizabeth Hurley.
According to Piers Morgan he’s a tedious little man and frankly I believe him
@@Mr.MayoTH-cam You lost any semblance of credibility when you mentioned that git, Piers Morgan
@@Mr.MayoTH-cam Don't believe anything Piers Morgan says - particularly when he's criticising others. Talk about pots and kettles! Piers Morgan is repellence personified! That awful curl of the lip.. seriously.. yuk!
@@fiddleandfart he speaks the truth, he’s not afraid of what others think. I like the guy. In his words, I have a right to free speech !
Ricky Gervais has changed his Golden Globe demeanor somewhat over the years
The richer he got, the more he changed. Very different now to the old days on XFM.
@@jim191185 Ricky is a totally different person when he's presenting and when he's actually having to talk as a human. As he always says people often mistake the subject of a joke for the actual target and he has never backed down from that.
@@Bryan-dr5qy no. i mean his general attitude compared to the XFM days. hes far less hyperactive.
@@jim191185 probably less drugs lol
Never once thought that Ricky is funny, just rude and big headed.
Robin Williams jumped up there for 1 reason only. To save an obviously spiraling man from discomfort. Most other comedians and you could make an argument for "attempting to steal some limelight" but not Robin, what a pleasure it was to grow up with this man's career as a backdrop.
God I miss Robin Williams.
Same.
Jesus I came here to write that same exact thing!!!!
Hey! I was gonna write that :'l
Truly a major loss for mankind
I was gonna write that...
Martin Freeman just picking his teeth in front of everybody lol
Whereee
@@la_gobba_di_aigor 0:47
Robin Williams was a special special man. What a human being.
I hear you bro. Such a special man.
Agreed
When Martin Freeman reminded Ricky Gervais who to thank to.. lol 😂
I didn't even notice him until I read your comment 🤣 bless him not even in the shot
@@Crystal-lp4gc IKR they genuinely thought they werent gonna win tho. LOL. Hehe. He was younger at that time! I love The Office UK!
"I'm from a little place called England, we used to run the world before u" 🤣😂😅
Classic John H Watson stratergy😄
After picking food from his teeth!
What's with the background music???
copyright strike protection
Imagine writing and playing it , only for it to be played here, so quietly in the background
...it’s bad
Hugh Grant: *uh euh eh uh eh um euh hum uh eheh uuehhe eeeeh SCREECH* yes, thank you goodnight!
Lmao
😂
Yet he wins! Sigh!
Did Robin just improvise until the winner showed up?🙈the show must go on I guess🤣#legend
Robin Williams. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I miss you.
still can't believe it. Loved him.
I miss Robin Williams. He is a true legend.
Emma Thompson looked golden when she was younger. There’s a certain deadly charming attraction about her. Now she’s a force to be reckon with with her golden personality and natural beauty.
I love the transformation, in the film Nanny McPhee, of Emma, definitely, beauty, from the beast.
@Seoul SeokJin This is a brilliant comment about the trajectory of this brilliant artist🙏
I think she’s one of the extremely rare women in the show business who actually aged well and is still an attractive lady. And I love that she never had any “enhancements” as so many others
I legit cried when Robin Williams came on at the end there. I haven't watched him for a while. Miss him.
How can you miss him?... All you know of him, you can just watch again. Makes no actual difference if he's alive or dead, does it?
🥱
Love how Robin Williams saved the day. Miss you buddy
I think Mrs. Carrell had the best speech
Technically speaking his wife
No way! What a narcissist! Making the speech all about her and having him thank him twice. Good lord!
@@BbGun-lw5vi Omg it is of course scripted and totally his own words lol
It's a joke. Steve wrote it himself
@@BbGun-lw5vi it was a joke!! Good lord…
Robin Williams. Absolute legend. Sharing his skills to help the show along and make more people happy. ❤️
Stephen Merchant lol, too tall to be in the frame
Apparently hes got bad knees through dipping to get through doorways
blue lining • they definitely did that on purpose
“She’s in the bathroom “ I’m like WTF why would you say that in front of everyone???” Then Robin comes on 😂😂😂 Saves the day as always! RIP to the best man the earth ever known 😭❤️
he was nervous!
@@jjearm8454 he was a bit disrespectful. Poor lady.
it's ok to say that> nothing wrong with that, he was giving her the only acceptable reason for not being there!!!
Ricky Gervais 2004 - "Thanks to the Hollywood Foreign Press"
Ricky Gervais 2020 - "As you know the meal tonight was all vegetables... as are the members of the Hollywood Foreign Press"
When speeches weren’t about politics
The good old days
Yes the good old days where you aren‘t constantly reminded that other people are less fortunate than you are. People get lazier everyday
Perhaps you haven’t heard of Marlon Brando, Jane Fonda, Susan Sarandon?
@@azcello yeah but they were occasional political moments..
Now its every award show with every winner..
@@thelocaldiva except we can, since politics is constantly everywhere every single day, and half of these people are as qualified, if not then less so, to talk about this than everyday people.
Hammering down "muh climate change is bad" when literally everyone knows that, whilst they take private jets everywhere is hypocritical and frankly an insult to the public. We're allowed to laugh and criticise these people for trying it constantly for either already popular issues or just straight up menial debates.
Oh man... The ROBIN Williams one got me really hard. Miss him so mucj
hard??? ewww
No voice-over, no intro to every clip that's longer than the clip. That's how it's done
The one and only Robin Williams... Wish him all the best wherever he is now.
Such a heart warming collection. Good old days of people being kind and having a sense of humour (unlike now)
There are always kind people
Okay boomer
Robin Williams here did exactly what he used to do for all of us, filled a boring void with entertainment humor and personality. We miss you ❤
Steven Merchant is just there, towering over everyone
Only Robin Williams could stage crash the golden globes and get away with it what a genius RIP
Miss you Robin Williams
Aaaw Robin. May he rest in peace & we will never forget him. Genious!
Just seeing Robin Williams again...my heart just exploded😭 such a gem of a person..❤️
the music is just annoying.
Owen Sanford yes it truly was annoying......
I had to pickup my jaw after that glimpse of Liz Hurley
Me too 😂
Drop dead gorgeous
I know!!!!
She’s still unreal.
I miss always hearing about THAT dress. She started the "THAT" craze.
Just about teared up seeing Robin Williams. Excellent ending.
Robin Williams; one of a kind 🥺
Love Emma Thompson. She's funny without trying.
Robin Williams and Jim Carrey...two of the greatest comedians ever and my favourite.
*carey
Robin William brought laughter to the world. But he himself was sad that he took his own life. We should never take anyone for granted especially the ones that are funny. They might just happen to be the saddest people.
The good old days when Jack Nicholson sat in the front row of every awards ceremony. 😎
I miss seeing him!
Best was and is Ricky Gervais, so nice and humble, always as it is, good one from Steve Carrell to give him a shout out,
Started the videos with laughing 😂
Ended with crying 😭
I know, right?!
Emma Thompson is brilliant
Gonna miss Robin. What a LEGEND!
I’m a simple woman, I see Hugh Grant, I click on the video
They should've shown Christine Lahti walking on stage to accept her award as she had the wit and presence of mind to tack on a long stream of toilet paper to the bottom of her shoe and come to the mic looking overwhelmed and bewildered- it was pretty hysterical actually.
Robin Williams was truly the GOAT. The way he quickly took control of that room and briefly commanded their laughter is some Bruce Lee level type s**t.💯
Everyone is so young. ❤🥰
I can imagine it was so difficult working with Robin Williams. You’d be in constant fits of laughter
Robin Williams you are an absolute legend!
seeing robin williams makes me happy
I love these actors.. I cannot replace them with new ones
Gawd, I just burst into tear when Robin Williams popped up, I did not expect that.
Robin Williams...simply amazing.
wmma thompson's speech was a freaking gem
Robin Williams was a genius and a true man. Amen
Martin freeman picking his teeth behind Ricky Gervais for almost the entire speech 🤣
Emma Thompson’s speech in the manner of Jane Austen is pure genius. 👏👏👏
Hugh Grant, the most handsome and charming of them all.
Robin...we miss you buddy... Rest in Heaven 🤘
Ricky looks like a Happy Teddy Bear. 😍
Robin Williams was so much more funny & spontaneous during his career than anyone ever thought of being.
Ladies and gentlemen, the great Robin Williams. Never missed a bit.
Inimitable ROBIN WILLIAMS... R. I. P. Lovely man... Resurrection hope onto a paradise earth going to be astounding - will see him again only in perfect health... Prospect of living forever never dying... 🙏❤️
i screamed at how beautiful hugh grant was (and is)
Hugh Lauries acceptance speech should be in it. It was one of the funiest!
Martin Freeman casually pulling out food from his teeth on stage is a whole mood
4:21 YOU WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED *LEGEND* 💟
Oh dear, Robin Williams! 😢❣️
steve carell is just 💖
I love when Robin came on stage and started giving "her" speech, Producer John Tinker handed him the award and tell him to go for it. Robin was entertaining the audience until Christine arrived.
I miss him.
Hugh Grant ❤
Robin Williams killed me 😂😂😂 May his soul rest in peace
Elizabeth Hurley and Hugh Grant were so iconic together
I don’t think anybody has ever had a more uproarious welcome greet them just as they emerge from the restroom! 🤣🤣
I wish the people wouldn't speak over that lovely generic royalty free digital guitar sound.
Christine Lahti‘s speech once she got back from the bathroom is pretty funny too 😁 it’s on here, you can watch it. Best moment ever was Ving Rhames giving his award to Jack Lemmon 😭
Only a dad hosting a private party would stop the show for his daughter to come back while keeping the guests still entertained. Robin Williams is pure love, and whoever he loves he loves them so fully. That's why he steals every show he's in.
I'm just a nobody, a tiny speck on this planet, but, I so miss Robin Williams. 😢
Not only his genius humour and hilarity, but his quick wit and huge heart.
On a side note, did any of you know he was a deeply caring soul. He was best friends, like brothers with Christopher Reeve (Superman in the 80's), when they were just young nobodies.
He and Chris were room mates at the prestigious Juilliard, from the 1970's, before Hollywood came calling.
Just as Chris' star was rising (after Superman), he had a dreadful riding accident, fell from a horse and was paralysed permanently from the neck down.
To cut it short, when Chris' health insurance money ran out. Robin stepped in and paid for all Chris's medical bills until he died and supported Chris's wife Dana and son financially.
Then,17 months later, Dana tragically died of lung cancer (she never smoked).
It was a real blow for Robin and he felt the loss of his best friend/brother deeply and I would guess untul his own sad end.
I would like to think, that if there is a place where souls meet....then Robin and Chris are together and laughing.
Thanks for sharing your comment with us.
Robin and Christopher rest them in peace.
I did not know this. It may go some way to explain why he left us so early by his own hands, if he experienced the loss of his friends so deeply.
Ricky Gervais is such an icon
The good old days... When award shows were fun.
Hugh was so cute, he just were Hugh as well
Robin Williams is the only acceptable award interruption
Christine Lahti went to the ladies at the wrong moment.
Oh our sweet Robin!
LMAO I love Hugh Grant
I miss robin williams! RIP.
Aww so sad seeing Robin Williams 😢 still missed 🥰
Awe Robbin he can’t help him self he’s so funny
Robin ♥️
Young Liz Hurley and emma Thompson were ridiculously hot, still are!
I 😍😍😍😍😍 Hurley, just watched bedazzled again 🚀🚀🚀
Switch Dolphin deliciousness 🍆🍆💧💦🌊
Emma Thompson is stunning
she really is
@@sleepingrosess yes its her intelligence that increases her appeal. But she is hot too.
@@matthewsmith1931 absolutely! Intelligence can be highly attractive

"We used to run the world before you!" 👏👏👏

Oh, Robin, how we miss you! 😂
You were our balm for the wound you bore 😥
Emma Thompson is BRILLIANT!!
Robin Williams ❤️❤️❤️❤️🥺
Don't they announce beforehand that your category is coming up? Why was Christine not there during the show?
She could have had diarrhea.
@@CC-mr5xq nah probs racking a line up
Jesus Christ Shahbano , give her a break
When you gotta go, you gotta go 🤷🏻♀️
I think they said that she was in the bathroom when they announced the category
