Steve Carrell doesn't get nearly the credit he deserves. Every joke, every spoken line, is infused with his humility and warmth. Steve, you are a man among men.

I am positive I was at the same show as Steve Carrell! It took place in the late 70s, when Carrell was living in Chicago, at the Amphitheatre, a large, defunct exhibition hall. The show was just as he described: thousands of people ringed around a small stage far below, where Steve's broad clowning was the only thing we could enjoy as the crowd's screams of joy blotted out his words. From now on I'm going to brag that Steve Carrell and I once went to see Steve Martin perform.
There’s only a few celebrities who can get me to watch these award shows. Steve Carell and Ricky Gervais are all of them.
