    Here is the first time I charge my LYRIQ on a EVgo Ultium DCFC at a Pilot / Flying J. It is at store number 412 in White Pine, TN.

    To clear up some confusion, the DCFC behavior has improved since the last update. As a LYRIQ owner who has done extensive DCFCing on road trips as well as recorded one of the first charging curve videos that was subsequently validated by leaders in the EV charging community, I can speak from experience in this matter. A commenter citing forum posts indicated no improvements on the latest update to DCFCing. I can say there is an improvement. I will be doing a 10%-80% charging curve video to document the new behavior when I am able to see the extent of the improvements. The previous commenter has been banned from the channel for repeated dis-information posts. Accept my apologies for the introduction of comment moderation.

      I agree waiting 4 nacs makes sense. It is only two years away. Maybe get a Tesla in the meantime if u want to go electric sooner. They make great EVs & first time buyers seldom report remorse in their purchase decisions. Thx 4 watching

    FYI, as you started charging at a very high SOC of 47%, that isn't the condition which causes the poor Lyriq charging (large dip you mentioned). Owners have charged with this update, and seen no improvement - large dip still present. It also depends on temperature, and amount of time you were able to precondition. But at near 50% starting SOC, that large dip is never seen on the Lyriq - even before the new software. You may want to try this again in the future at a lower SOC (20-25%). Based on other owner experience, it is expected the charging will still have problems as before.

    It's good to see that GM smoothed out the charging curve. This should also translate to the Blazer EV and other trims as well. It sounds like someone might need to do an updated 10% to 80% test on a 350 kW charger. 🙂

    The newer EVGo stations are sooooo much better than the previous generations. The Autocharge+ also worked great for me using the Tesla CCS connector. Pulling a trailer with my Zero motorcycle, I especially appreciate the Flying J sites that have pull-through covered charging spots. I believe the "matching voltage" is because all batteries have slightly different voltages, but especially the 800+ V architecture likely needs some charger side adjustment.

      I spoke to a convience store operator. The 12yr old ones were from the Nissan Leaf early days and have been aging out of svc life since. New ones r from GM cash, a whole new ball game. I have been able to make a few road trips as of late using nothing but EVgo. Soon, it will be a coast-to-coast network with mostly new hardware. Exciting times!

    Been watching many different ev youtube channels and it appears that the experience at EvGO chargers is so much better than that experienced at Electrify America chargers. EA chargers are nightmare to use. You never know how many are down and the ones that are supposedly up often do not work the first time you plug in. You have to fiddle with it.. unplug... wait.. plug in.. select fail.. do again... finally they work. Really annoying.
    Thought about getting the Lyric but it was not available when I needed my replacement EV and I ended up with a KIA EV6. Great warranty, but stuck with a free two year or 1000 kw EA charging package.

    • @thenetworkarchitectchannel
      @thenetworkarchitectchannel  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree, EA gear is aging and EVgo has been putting a lot of new gear in the ground making them easier to work with. Both of my EVs are set up on Autocharge+, making the plug-n-charge a good expirence for my wife & me on EVgo stations. I find we tend to favor them when given the choice. Thx for the comment & watching. BTW, the EV6 is a sweet ride. I actually wanted to get the Ionic 5 instead of the LYRIQ, but it was my wife's decision. In retrospect, probably a good option to choose. It is very roomy, the 102 kWh battery pack, and many lux features makes it a sorta value for the price.

    EV chargers at fuel stations are a much better idea, yes, the chargers at the stores, malls, etc. are fine, and a convenience for those who don't have chargers available at home or work, but it would be nicer if they charged at a higher speed, but any improvement is better than nothing

    • @thenetworkarchitectchannel
      @thenetworkarchitectchannel  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thx for watching & the comment. I have done DCFC a lot both on Tesla’s ecosystem and CCS. Often, I was charging in a mall parking lot either with the stores closed or wondering if it was okay to use the rest rooms. One place actually had signs saying “Restrooms for Customers Only”. Here, the site host has attached facilities welcoming to the people doing EV charging the same as those pumping gas. Also, the Pilot / Flying J locations are specifically located immediately off interstate exits, which too is really nice. Often times, I needed to rabbit trail off the interstate 5-10 minutes to get to the chargers. I am hopeful for being able take road trips on interstates and only using Pilot/FlyingJ.

    This is great news! It's good to see that GM is able to push such major improvements to the car through over the air updates.
    And it's great to see that they have improved the charging so much. Now, the Lyriq is a car that can be strongly recommended with no hesitation.

      Owners are not reporting improvements in the Lyriq charging after the update. The video here shows charging from 47%, which never has the problem. With more typical charging from 20-25%, owners are still seeing the issue.

      @@billjohnson3344 I disagree with this. It is phrased as an absolute. There are video recording b4 the update of clean 10%-80% w/o dips charging sessions and even if the update did nothing some charging sessions are clean (no dips) but I have a hard time believing no improvement were made.

    • @billjohnson3344

      @@thenetworkarchitectchannel Test it at low SOC with the 350kW charger - you will see. Is all over the forums also - no one seeing an improvement. 10-80% charging with no dips is only possible with a low power charger (150kW or less). If you do that with the 350kW charger, the dip is still there.

    Thanks, Walter! So it looks like EVgo has finally added the "loading screen," which is meant to limit customer concerns with the slow Delta 350 kW start up times. I still find that start up to be too slow for my liking, but at least the status is being communicated now.

    • @thenetworkarchitectchannel
      @thenetworkarchitectchannel  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I agree it is excessively slow. As someone who has been using Autocharge + for awhile now, what I normally do is plug in an immediately just jump back in the car & let it do its thing. Blue moon event for dispensing not to start after a spell. Thx 4 the comment

    That's some really slick looking hardware that appears different than the recent hardware that they've been using (two short-fat 200A Delta chargers and 1-2 tall-skinny 500A chargers). Is Delta the manufacturer of the charger your used? While I'm a big fan of shared chargers, what I don't like is low numbers of hardware. A single failed unit means 50% of the site is down.
    Great news on the Lyriq charging update! I hope you do a 10-80% test soon.

      They were the same Delta chargers as at all Pilot/Flying J locations. Some EVgo renew have Signet for 350, but mostly those r Delta too.

      If your specific road trip use case doesn't work well in an EV, you should totally stick to a gas car. We can worry about the long tail of rare use cases after we switch the majority of the fleet over.
