This place is crazy. The Germans must have gotten cold in the winter and built all these features to help then stay warm lol. I was surprised not to see any tunnels going into the mountains. Or connecting to the closed off tunnels we saw earlier in part one. Thank you Eagle Eyes for your great portrayal of a German soldier using these positions. For me it gives a better idea of how each position was used. I couldn’t imagine what it would be like to be a soldier in the harsh winter getting to their fighting positions. The one you went down the steps to had to be the most hazardous to get to. Glad you’re both safe and having an amazing time on these adventures.

That brown plank/board stuff was very common in the early 1900s, its just pressed wood dust and you can find it behind the drywall of a ton of older homes to this day. So that one area with the entry of wood up in the hill had to be a small barracks cause that stuff was top of the line insulation in those days.
Crystal meth kept them warm it’s fine
This is truly one of those amazingly fascinating places you wouldn't think existed, but it does. So many structures, on the inside, and on the outside, of this hill. Just incredible. And to think that those defensive positions, including that tiny clifftop one, were manned, and patrolled, on a regular basis, in all weathers. Imagine being the poor sod being tasked with lookout duties at that scary little post, in the middle of a winter storm. It would be like being sent to the edge of the world. Truly loving this location. It has so much to show us, and so many little mysteries, and surprises. Looking forward to the next episode of this amazing adventure. Cheers to you both!

If you haven't already you guys should research Albany War Museum WA Australia. It's port the Anzacs left from. It dates back to settlement times. It's an awesome feeling to not only stand where our Anzacs left from I was standing in buildings that pre date to settlement. I feel the love and respect you guys have for design and construction genius.

Am going to nominate Eagle Eyes for an Academy Award. He does such a great job portraying a German soldier. Watching him always gives me a better understanding of each position. Am also proud of you History Hunter. You are pushing your comfort zone to new levels. Taking a chance going down the steps to the fighting position on the edge of the mountain and in the upcoming video of you and Eagle Eyes traversing the rocky terrain along the ocean with harnesses and the cable. It’s scary to watch but with the way you protect Eagle Eyes on these adventures I know you won’t do anything stupid. Stay safe out there my friend and have fun.

Wonderful tour of a truly amazing section of the Atlantic Wall. The attention to the detail of the places for cover, ammunition storage and the placement of the machine gun posts for the various fields of fire are a tribute to the German military of the time. They wanted to be prepared for anything. That lookout post on the edge of the cliff would have been a tough place in a snow storm! Thanks for taking us along with you! Great stuff! I have been watching your channel for sometime now and I will say this is the best of WW2 History to watch. I really do enjoy you and your son going together which is awesome! A father and son team that makes me very happy and proud, way to go guys! Really it's nice! I have watched so much about WW2 and yes a lot of stuff is great from the visual and locations other people make. But even high cost productions just show you this small tasting on the edge of seat luring. I will also say high cost productions do not get to the point like you do. You are literally in the trenches and go right into the points and delve yourselves with these adventures that high production versions just don't or can't give or even care to do. You give the rawness and make it fun. I'm actually tired of the high production shows that yap and yap and yap and give you such little of history. You and your family including your daughter put the real effort and always I root for the underdog and I mean that as a compliment! You guys deserve to be congratulated on your hard work because I know what it is like to walk where you have been and go through that environment. Once again a great episode worth watching because you deliver the rawness. Who cares about high production shows because in the end they all suck and you only get scraps where you guys give the steak and potatoes of production and yes that means the good stuff.

HH another great video. It is amazing how intricate and complex the German sites are, at least most. That they are still present 70 odd years later is a testament. Such excellent work! Thanks guys and I am looking forward to seeing more of the Atlantic Wall. My grandfather was a US soldier that ran up Juno Beach June 6th,1944. He survived since Juno wasn't protected as much.

Canada, United Kingdom, Free France and Norway all landed on Juno Beach on D-Day June 6th, 1944 (vast majority Canadians) Not an American beach on that day. Juno was plenty protected and many Canadians died on the beach that day (as well as other allied countries mentioned). This is coming from the grandson of a Canadian WWII veteran. Canada achieved the greatest progress on D-Day once we got off Juno Beach. The sacrifices of brave Canadians is lumped together all to often with the US achievements! God Bless Canada!

Man I'd faint finding a plate with the swastika on it or anything related to the 2nd world war Like you come across. My grandfather was part of D day and I was to young to know to ask about it before he passed. Thank you so much for doing what you do I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL!!!

What another fabulous video! All the positions across the hilltop is fascinating and sometimes terrifying! I'd hate to be the poor soul or souls that had to be on that precipice looking out over that sheer drop! I was scared and wasn't even there in person. I was scared for you and EE. Jesus, such an amazing young man and what a trooper! And you're not an old man. This was a tremendously awesome place the Germans fortified. I too, couldn't imagine how the allies could scale that mountain just to come back down that drop just to fight. Incredible. Thank you both for sharing this amazing experience with us. Hey, this is an incredibly well-defended location! It's like a hedgehog in that it has many very sharp spines in the form of machine gun and mortar positions, quite fascinating.
And of course we must acknowledge the incredible contribution of Eagle Eyes - spotting the hidden positions and all. And having so much stamina and energy as well! He's your perfect exporing companion 🙂 Not to mention, his acting out of what soldiers might have been doing in a given spot is actually quite useful in helping us imagine the scene long ago.
I also want to give you credit for your camera work. I've seen other channels that explore military sites, but most tend to use the camera as they would their own eyes, in that they flick around as they spot things, but only for a second as their brain acknowledges the scene before moving on to other things. This is very distracting and makes it very difficult to focus on anything. Whereas you use a wonderful documentary eye, which takes the time to let us see the important things and makes your explorations very informative. Your own knowledge of what you're exploring has also helped immensely and I've learned so much from your camera work.

I would like you to entertain the possibility that these are repurposed locations of very old world fortifications. Destroyed by cataclysms multiple times over. Once from a solar plasma melt scenario, those remains later destroyed further from massive flooding. Multiple locations all over the world experienced these same events, and there are remnants of it everywhere. I'm sure that you are correct with what the modern German army's repurposed these ruins for, but I believe you're only seeing the top layer of a deeper puzzle. Love the videos. There is some amazing history here in the crazy planet of ours, and we can go out and find it. You just have to realize what you are looking at first.

Thanks guys that was amazing! As impressive as their efforts where they didn't think about one thing, they would just find a way around and cut off positions like that then come back and deal with them when they found necessary to do so and it would not even slow them down. Also as much effort went into the wall it would be rendered useless soon as they broke through key positions and could start pouring inland and cut them off from their forces. That's why the ally's parachuted in behind their positions before the landings to prep the key spots. New sub thanks and great video's

That last shelter was in amazingly good shape considering the location so close to the Ocean and all the Moisture in the air. The Stone work was exceptionally good using the locally naturally sourced rock.
