Wow i dont know what to say. Thank YOU so much for that. Eagle Eyes found something VERY special for you on this last trip of our that will end in a few days and we will share that in the next supporter video coming over the weekend as we are not back yet from that. Thanks ever so much and greetings from us.
Thank you so much Muttley for your generous donations. It also helps us followers to benefit from the WW2 explorations that are carried out by HH, EE, and BBG. Take care and all the best.
That will for sure help out a lot in the upcoming explores and we thank you so much for that. Your support is so greatly appreciated and we thank you for that Barry :)
When we talk about fuel storage I forget how many ships and U-boats the Kreigsmarine had in service and how much fuel would be required to keep them active. That one "cave" that you entered that was oily and had the steel structure in it...by the looks of the deterioration from rust at the bottom I am guessing it may have been a WWII built steel structure for fuel management of some sort. It is a shame the graffiti artists have been at work in these locations, what a mess! You have taken us to a very interesting location, thanks so much for taking us along, I had no idea that there were so many hidden storage facilities! I look forward to the next episode! Stay safe and stay well!!
That could very well be Donald. This is such a great location , just so sad to see those idiots with spray can going bananas in there. Greatly appreciate your incredible support Donald and we send a greeting your way.
Well done my friend, The Germans would have made all of the middle earth dwarfs proud. I noticed that the tunnel in the 11-minute block was closed off at the back with concrete. So, one would have to wonder why, tunnels in Poland and such were sealed off to keep the public from seeing what was there. one of the early tunnels had all the base mounts for 4 500-Liter horizontal storage tanks. These are all over the tunnels in the eastern front where they had factories in tunnels. The 2 silo shaped buildings are intriguing as to what they are for. This was another great trip into the past, keep going. EE how is your research going? Stay safe and well people.
Agree William , such a great location to bad with all the spray can stupidity.Lots of stuff going on in there it seems like. EE`s research created some rather fantastic result on this second leg of the Winter WW2 Road trip and will share some of that soon. Thanks William for your great support.
I highly doubt they were sealed off to stop the public from seeing what was there because let’s face it: what is there to be seen? It probably had more to do with safety. Just saying.
Those two large conical towers in the beginning, are "Zombeck" air raid shelters, designed by Paul Zombeck in 1937. They have an internal, rising, spiral floor, that doubles as access and living space, with a cylindrical core pillar, that houses the washrooms and toilets etc. Designed to accommodate around 500 people, but could house up to 1000 in reality. A really brilliant design. All of those tunnels into the hillside are fascinating, and each would have their own unique purpose, and story to tell. Obviously used for storage and other stuff, Post-War, especially the burnt out one, which must have seen years of fire training, which has left the wall, floor, and ceiling caked in burnt oil. It is just a pity that once people stopped using them, the vandals moved in to trash them. It is a real shame to see these places given over to such misuse. Thank you for this fascinating look into this U-Boat location. Cheers to you all! Stay Safe!
We thank you so much for that great support Bob and it will come in very handy in the future upcoming explores. Very kind of you my friend and we send a greetings from us and be safe out there :)
@@bobhill4582 you know Bob , it warms my soul to know that you are enjoying history and what we share with you. Makes it so worth it and we shall share tons more in the future :)
Amazing on those tunnels; sad on the graffiti though. Have to agree with you; most likely stored oil, fuel in a couple of those with the way those "cross" concrete bars were lined the way they were. It's great you were able to bring us along to share these with us. Thanks; stay safe and smile!!
It’s a great afternoon now ! This place is amazing! I’ve never seen some of the buildings you showed us today ! Great place ! Thanks HH , EE , enjoyed this place a lot thanks !!Be careful ! Be safe 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Graffiti idiots have defaced these amazing places. Ugh. It was actually refreshing to see the one you crawled into, so stark and original! Awesome storage facilities, HH and Eagle Eyes!❤️
Another amazing video from our favorite WW2 ❤ History Hunter. The bomb or storage units at the Kriegsmarine fuel depot were built so solid. Yes wonder what event occurred at the one burnt-out cave? Thank you for taking us inside the caves and tunnels. Be careful in those flooded caves. The grafitti irritates me also as history is a valuable lesson for future generations. There is a more suitable time and place for such so called form of artwork. Thanks EE & HH. Looking forward to seeing more.
The tunnel systems and huge spaces are such typical Gsrman storage areas. Fascinating to imagine the torpedos being hoisted onto vehicles for transport to the subs. Thanks for this interesting explore ❤️
I'm about 2/3rds of the way through this video and I have to say that I share your frustration with the poor condition of the tunnels. They clearly were used somewhat for industrial purposes after the war, but then kids made their way into them and did what they did. Having said that, it does seem there are some quite interesting features and fixtures still in place, and I'd love to know more about those. I'm also, as you are, a bit puzzled as to why they didn't seem to have built a larger, more extensive tunnel/bunker system here. Perhaps there is one a bit farther from the facility, where it would be safe from fire, etc.
I know , what a shame to see how idiots has ruined a otherwise great location. Thanks is why we NEVER reveal any of the locations we go to no matter what. Thanks Dennis :)
I’m gonna buy you some knee high rubber boots!! I bet you would have found some cool stuff in that one flooded one!! 😆😁 Love it! Glad y’all had a fun trip, and thank you for sharing it with us!!
The tunnel with oil in them may have been boiler rooms. I'm not sure where your at and how cold it gets there but they may have needed to heat the fuel so they could pump it down to the boats? Just an idea. That one tunnel had some big stacks coming out and they were close to the tanks.
Shame about the condition of the cave areas, looks like they have seen plenty of activity over the years, but mostly destructive. Very interesting area though, thanks for sharing.
Kinda sad that people have vandalized alot of this location.. A great feat of German engineering... Thanx for your work.. You and your son have shown more German ww2 history than I have ever seen before..
Wow what a shame that the idiots defaced those storage and tunnel areas with their horrific graffiti. It was very interesting to see that last tunnel you crawled into. So original and refreshing compared to the others. This was a great explore and thank you both for taking us along. Until next time take care and stay safe. 💖💯
It's amazing that any of this exist at all. Think about it, this is in Poland and the Germans were not hero's in the the eyes of the Polish after what they had just gone threw. I'm surprised they didn't do everything in their power to rid the country of anything German.
Great adventure my friends. I suspect as you already mentioned this tunnel would have been used for some type of fuel storage. The silo's were probably meant to hide the storage, but what do I know other than what you convey SIR [ Professor and TRUE WW2HH and EE ] till we see you again be safe, careful and stay healthy.
I wish I was financially able to donate to you. What you do is extremely important. That secondary structure did they build off of it to make a factory possibly using it as a silo of some kind?
Did the U Boats come out of the pin to a dock that was not near the pins to refuel? Seems that would be safer for the pins encase of an attack plus the fuel tanks aren’t next to the pins. The size of some of those tunnels is amazing. They must have worked 24 7 to make them. Nice to see these even though some have been vandalized.
Look next to the entrance manway on those tanks, there should be a placard (metal info plate) attached and visible that will details when it was manufactured, by whom, and to what standard it was built to. Get me that info and I could tell you all sorts of things about it! I'll send you an example over on patreon
WOW, what a place that was. Definitely worth seeing even with the nasty artwork carried out by the graffiti villains. The bomb shelters or storage units were very sturdily built . Noticed sounds of trucks in that area. What is it used for today HH? Good thing you didn't fall on your butt in the water HH. Yes, don't go in there EE. We have the same problem with candles in the U.S. Those tunnel systems are Awesome.Vandals really ugly and destroyed pl aces.Such a shame.Take care 👍👍🇺🇸
I would say the foundations in some and the funnel and vertical chute they look like they were manufacturing weapons, this also explains why there are many of them totally independent of each other in case of one detonation or fire not stopping all production. I saw a modern ammunition manufacturing factory and they were separated out and duplicated too. One area loads the packs the propellent, then it goes to storage only a certain ammount is brought into another area and the detonator the firing pin hits is added with its own storage and a third area makes the explosive shell with its own storage and there is a final assembly area then the completed munitions are sent offsite. I suspect they were assembling the torprdo's there so hitting the transport vehicle or train did not have secondary explosions or show where the supply factory for the torpedo engine and body was. Just a guess but they are too small for much else and too hardened to be much less. Whatever it was it cost or took or both a lot of lives.
The graffiti at these locations really took away from the craftsmanship of these bunkers. They went nuts with all the paint in the one bunker. Just shows they have no respect for history. We have the same trouble here with it. You would think this graffiti fad would be over by now. All and all I still enjoyed this location. Was there any underwater defenses at the entrance to the pins like sub nets or mines that could be remotely released? With these giant sub pins there had to be plenty of fuel, torpedoes and supplies to replenish the subs. No wonder there are so many tunnels here. I hope Eagle Eyes wasn’t to disappointed with the tunnels being vandalized that bad.
