I'm a person who wonders crazy stuff also.. If I'm watching a movie themed in 1578, and something happens I wonder about I'll look it up online.. Your MIL mocking you, IMO, is not grounds to break up. Go NC, sure, but don’t end anything over that.
Your fiancé / husband should have stepped in and shut everyone down. Instead, he laughed along with them. That’s a strong reason to break up. Unless he’s playing some 4D chess, and trying to record them being middle age mean girls, he has shown you who he is. Believe him, and nope on out of there.
