    Just subscribed. I'm impressed! Not too fast, not too slow, not too long, not too short, good use of examples for clarification and reinforcement. One question: suppose I attach a photo I took to a note and then later delete the photo. Is the photo simply removed from the note?

    • @TheMacWhisperer
      @TheMacWhisperer  หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, you are adding the photo as an attachment, so it gets copied to the note, and will remain if you delete the photo, just like an emailed attachment will remain if you delete the original file.

    Your thoroughly well presented videos and very well explained are why I not only subscribed to your channel but the fact that your teaching is of a great standard is why I have learnt so much more and this keeps me coming back for more. If I had a friend who was struggling with anything like this I’d have no hesitation in recommending them to watch your videos Dylan 😁

      @ No worries Dylan, my two big takeaways from this video were how to use Smart Folders more effectively and your ⚡️Power Tip⚡️making things stand out. Oh yes I definitely registered for the 3 classes on Decluttering straight after Thursday’s live broadcast and I got an email from you with the login details this afternoon 😁. I look forward to the classes next week.

    I really enjoy your videos. I would like to know if you use a document scanner to scan notes into apple notes? thanks

    • @TheMacWhisperer
      @TheMacWhisperer  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for watching!
      I don't have to scan very much, because most of the documents I have are digital to begin with. People have a nasty habit of taking something that was emailed, texted, downloaded or sent to them digitally and printing it out, and then needing to scan it back in later. But because I keep most docs digital and rarely print them out I almost never have to scan.
      When I do scan, I'm always trying to copy the text of the document into Notes rather than scanning it as an attachment. Adding attachments to Notes is fine, but it's rarely the most efficient way to do things, and it prevents it from being properly searchable or editable.
      So yes, on occasion I have scanned things using a document scanner, but not often.

    How do I sort store receipts after I have scanned them?

    • @TheMacWhisperer
      @TheMacWhisperer  หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can put them all on one note based on the month or the store, or you could have a folder for the store (or month) and put separatae notes in there.
      You can also use tags to separate certain kinds of stores or certain amounts to help with organization.
      Do you have other thoughts about how you would want to organize them?

  • @MarkKochan-s7o
    @MarkKochan-s7o 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

    my notes app does not sort tags or give options like your screen. is this in the 18.2 update?

    • @TheMacWhisperer
      @TheMacWhisperer  21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Tags have been available since iOS 15, you certainly should have that capability. As far as other options, which ones are you referencing? iOS 18 gave the ability to use Apple Intelligence and some other functions in Notes...
      If you are more specific about what options are missing, I can tell you whether it's because of your device or not. What device are you using, and what iOS are you on?

  • @julieh9234
    @julieh9234 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I don’t see the arrow to access the tag feature. I only show an email options on the bottom of mine. No red arrow for the tag option.

    • @TheMacWhisperer
      @TheMacWhisperer  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Try adding a tag to a note and see if the tag list shows up.
      What phone and OS are you using?

    • @julieh9234
      @julieh9234 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ it does not show up. I’m using an iPhone 15 max and iOS 18.1.1

    • @TheMacWhisperer

      Are you using iCloud to store your notes or another service like Google or AOL?
      You have to use the iCloud Notes for a lot of these functionalities. The other services don't provide things like tags or attachments. So if you are using Google or one of the other systems, you should migrate everything over to iCloud and then you will have all the functionality you see on my devices.
      It's pretty easy to do. Go to the "Other Services" folder, click the three dots in the upper right-hand corner, and select. Then click "Move All" in the bottom and point it to iCloud Notes instead.

    Do you know how to get the data in iMessages on the iPad to stop going up? I'm not even using it and the data keeps going up. I noticed it after the iPadOS 18 update. It happened before on my first gen iPad mini. I hope the Mac isn't like this. I wish we could just delete the iMessage app.

    • @TheMacWhisperer
      @TheMacWhisperer  หลายเดือนก่อน

      You must live overseas if you are considering deleting iMessage. For those of us in the US it is one of our most used apps.
      Have you signed out of iMessage (under settings, apps, messages)? That would be my first step. Then go to general, iPhone storage, Messages and you should see what is taking up the space. Delete large attachments and other conversations and set it to autodelete old conversations, and that should help... but if you text ANYONE, or if ANYONE texts you... it's going to add to the storage it's taking.
      Hope that helps....

    • @j.j4090
      @j.j4090 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ I didn’t know you can sign out of it. I just had it turn off. I turned it on, and signed out. I went offline and back on a couple of times, and it just went up again. It doesn’t seem as bad as it was on my old iPad. It goes up, then it’ll drop back to 7.7mb. Then it goes up, so far to 8mb, then it’ll go back down. I’m in Canada, so I can’t delete the app.

    • @TheMacWhisperer
      @TheMacWhisperer  หลายเดือนก่อน

      8MB isn't much, if that's all we're dealing with I would just ignore it.

    Absolutely hate this app. Are used to store keys you can’t cut and paste you can’t copy you can’t do squat with it. It’s trash.

    • @TheMacWhisperer
      @TheMacWhisperer  19 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I don’t know what you’re talking about you can easily cut and copy with the Notes app.
      I’m sorry you find it to not be a good application, but you’re definitely in the minority…
      And if you’re having trouble with copying and pasting in the Notes app you’re actually doing something wrong. Let me know how I can help you. I’m happy to give you some advice.
