I can imagine this truck poping up on craigslist "2016 Chevy Silverado: slight water damage, minor electrical problems, in pretty good condition, low mileage, no bad record, being sold for $2,500"
"Salvage title ????" "Flood damage ?????" Nah..... Carfax is bogus. This damage will NOT come up, if you don't go thru insurance 😉. Many cars have been crashed badly or swamped out, and show a clean record. Can you say "show me the scamfax??" Weeeeeeeeeeeeee 🤑
wonder what it would take to get this thing running again with all the electronics . a buddy of mine sunk his 79 bronco years ago and had it going in a weekend after fluid changes basically
correct you could buy it back from the insurance company with part of the payout. But be aware, this thing will have electrical issues for the life of the vehicle. And the only to fix it would be to clean or replace every single connection, relay, fuse, fuse box connection, wire connection joint, etc. It would be horrible. Nice winter weekend project maybe. Take all winter.
Kevin Aguiar If I go to that same lake and catch a Chevy truck. I'm going to Home Depot and getting a steel sledgehammer. Or park it next to my aluminum f350 and watching which one will rust first. Obviously not the f350
eh, if it's freshwater, it's easy to clean. 99% of people just don't know how. For people who off road, ending up over the hood in water and muck is just part of the game, lol.
It wouldn't, the water got inside the engine and transmission, both of which contain a lot of essential fluids that have now been diluted and ruined by the water. Also, electrical parts of the engine and transmission have been soaked by water, causing them to be defective and/or malfunction. Aa far as trying to repair would probably already cost more than half of the car total worth, and this is a brand new 2016 silverado. There is water inside the engine cylinders, the oil and coolant mixed with water. That car is gone.

Definitely not a total loss, but after moving flood vehicles around the country several times and 'washing' the titles, these pre-owned vehicles are sold for good money at car dealerships in states far away from their origins and the incidence of flooding seems to be very hard to find on a Carfax as they are unaware of the multiple auction resales and title 'washing'... laws are being made to try and stop this but it continues to happen.......
Joe Stacks, yes you can put water in an engine. Thats what hydrolocking is. Water going into the engine. Also that doesnt mean its there forever. You can also get the water out. By taking out the spark plugs, disconnecting the fuel injectors, and turning the engine over, you can get the water out. Whether it runs or not depends on ECU, fuel, bent/snapped rods, etc. But you can put water into an engine, Hydro lock it, Then get that water back out. #beentheredonethat lol
daniel hatte that’s probably because it had rain sensing wipers. It most likely activated when the truck went underwater and deactivated shortly after being removed from water.
That truck still good All you need to do to it is Take out the spark plugs and oil Crank it after you replace the oil .so the water can get out of the engine and put back the spark plugs and turn it on . Make sure you change all the fluids and gas too . We did this to a Silverado ss 03 awd and truck is running Really good .
Cardona j You are right but I know I'm not mistaking when I tell you that the interior and all the electronics on a vehicle will cost so damn much to replace! They are without a doubt ruined the minute they get immersed in water!
Remember kids, if you put your truck in park AND pull the E-brake, you've still only locked the rear wheels unless you have it in 4 wheel drive. Also, with a pickup, once you slide back enough, the bed will become a boat and float back wheels off the ground, then it's no effort to float you the rest of the way into the water. I'm as guilty of this as the next guy, I almost never use 4 wheel drive to launch my boat. Theres just no need on paved boat ramps. But the ones I use don't tend to be this slimy, AND I have an SUV not a pickup, so I have a lot more weight over the rear wheels, thus more traction.
@@Unplugged704 Just use your 4wd. It's likely one of the only times you will ever actually use your 4wd in your truck anyways. We all buy 4wd but truly don't really need it in 99% of circumstances. Might as well use it when launching so the system gets used and grease/oil moved around the joints and bearings in the front 4wd
His parking brake was on, so he either went too far, or it was actually REALLY slimy. FYI I live in florida and always use 2wd trucks at ramps steeper than this, so the likely reason was he's stupid/new at boating.
wow, i've never seen this happen, but it gives new meaning to check the god damn boat launch. still feel sorry for buddy tho, once you slip in that slime gravity takes over, just wish they caught the sinking on tape, that would have been interesting to see
I live in the serria nev and in the winter their is no way I would make it over echo summit ele 7400 ft at night to get to my job in state line nev no way would I be alive today if I tried that in 2x2 seen a lot of 2x2 getting in bad wreaks over the 47 years that drove that route
+One Kid sure the price only starts out at 48,300 for a z71 and you can see the z71 on the fender. but the payments are not much? so you have a 5 year loan so 60 payments and 48,300 is around 805 dollars a month that is if some how you got a 0 % interest rate and that isn't going to happen. so lets say around 5% as you have good credit. so 5% of 48,300 is 2,415 dollars a year for intrest. plus a lot of the time your payments mostly just cover the interest rate for the first so many years and barely pays on what you owe on the car or truck. so if it's 5% each year. 2,415 times the 5 years. over 12 grand in interest so soon that truck is costing you 60 grand so 60 grand divided by 60 is 1,000 a month plus you have a high cost of insurance as you have to have full coverage on a truck that would cost them 60 grand to pay off because of interest rates. so most likely around 2 grand a month they would be paying out for payment and insurance.
LOL, this is 2016, any vehicle depending on vacuum to lock in 4x4 is either homemade, or just plain junk. Thanks for playing. Pretty obvious you pigeon holed yourself working on 1996 for rangers.
F150's, Super Duty's, and Heavy duty rams (not sure about 1500's) all use vacuum to actuate either the front hubs or center axle disconnect, even in 2016. Chevy's is an electronic CAD system.
Sank pretty fast, Yeah like a rock... Anyone see that Ford commercial where the ford pulls it's boat the chevy and the chevys boat out of the dock at once? Chevy was quick to get that taken down only saw it once..
When you pull the boat on or off it the weight and jarring can cause the truck to slide. It's a scary thing. Always carry a brake pedal depresser that way all 4 wheels are locked not just the rears.
Thats impressive. He drove that truck all the way across the lake and got stuck right before the ramp. Look for it to be the weekly special in a month at Joes Used Auto's.

What is the price on getting a diver? And someone to haul it out of the water? I am assuming the car is a total loss. Do you claim insurance on this?
That truck still good
All you need to do to it is
Take out the spark plugs and oil
Crank it after you replace the oil .so the water can get out of the engine and put back the spark plugs and turn it on . Make sure you change all the fluids and gas too .
We did this to a Silverado ss 03 awd and truck is running
Really good .
Cardona j You are right but I know I'm not mistaking when I tell you that the interior and all the electronics on a vehicle will cost so damn much to replace! They are without a doubt ruined the minute they get immersed in water!
Noah Bata most of the stuff will work if you let it dry before you try to mess with it
There are no spark plugs. That truck has a Duramax in it.
Take the spark plugs out of a Duramax? Ok.
Scott M its a fucking diesel it dont have sparkplugs
That Chevy Sank... Like a ROCK
So launching one does not need 4x4, but retrieving you do? I have a 4x4 truck.. and lookingbto get a boat. Just taking notes. ;)
Thanx for the insight
@@Unplugged704 Just use your 4wd. It's likely one of the only times you will ever actually use your 4wd in your truck anyways. We all buy 4wd but truly don't really need it in 99% of circumstances. Might as well use it when launching so the system gets used and grease/oil moved around the joints and bearings in the front 4wd
Get in, drive off…PERFECT COMMERCIAL! 🙂
Memorial day weekend is loaded with boat ramp close calls.pure entertainment for the locals
Why did the truck slide down the ramp? Isn't ramp designed so that the vehicles don't slide?
The ramp was covered in slime. There is not much you can do to prevent slime.
Chris hauser How about one of these? -> en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BTR-80#/media/File:BTR-80_coming_ashore.jpg Would this do?
yes, but clear lake in california is a slimy lake. (not exactly living up to the namesake...)
This truck is a 2wd only....LoL, The only way to turn it into a ghetto 4x4 is if passengers on both sides stick one leg out and touch the floor 😆
His parking brake was on, so he either went too far, or it was actually REALLY slimy. FYI I live in florida and always use 2wd trucks at ramps steeper than this, so the likely reason was he's stupid/new at boating.
He was probably like
“Brb hun imma go wash the whip real quick”
This dude was backing a trailer down a wet ramp with a Z71 and didn't have it in 4 Wheel? Deserved.
Here's to finding New Roads!!
That’s what happens when you drive off of the Del Perro Pier in your brand new Sandking XL.
The Lake County Carp had the truck picked clean and spotless by the time they hauled it out
so it didn't start up I am assuming?
is that where the boat went?
ECU was drowned so it pretty much had no brain
ECU's these days are waterproof and sealed. Most likely damage to other circuits inside the truck and not in the engine bay
Where did you hear that? AND...you believed it? Boy, I have some lakefront property in Arizona you can have...cheap!
When you're tired of making payments
You're still on the hook (no pun intended) for this vehicle after this.
So its true? Chevy does run deep
I can't believe that I'm the only one! Someone else had to find the humor in this!!!
wow, i've never seen this happen, but it gives new meaning to check the god damn boat launch. still feel sorry for buddy tho, once you slip in that slime gravity takes over, just wish they caught the sinking on tape, that would have been interesting to see
"Like a rock!"...............................straight to the bottom.
Some people really overestimate the capability of 4x4s.
I live in the serria nev and in the winter their is no way I would make it over echo summit ele 7400 ft at night to get to my job in state line nev no way would I be alive today if I tried that in 2x2 seen a lot of 2x2 getting in bad wreaks over the 47 years that drove that route
insurance job, getting out of the payment
Dan Castor only if u got gap
It was in park when they pulled it out of the water. Now if it was in nutrual maybe but not when it was still in park.
description said it slid on the slime
car was in park. it slid in or the boat was styled typed up and dragged it in or something but the ramp looks pretty damn slick

+Superman haaaaaaa thats great.
the truck slid? never heard of that, why didnt he put on 4X4 and get out or did back down to far and fell off the ramp
it probably was in 4wd but these things need vacuum to lock the 4wd, probably just popped out when it shut off and lost vacuum
for sure I'm a Ford guy but I'm just defending buddy a little bit here lol
LOL, this is 2016, any vehicle depending on vacuum to lock in 4x4 is either homemade, or just plain junk. Thanks for playing. Pretty obvious you pigeon holed yourself working on 1996 for rangers.
F150's, Super Duty's, and Heavy duty rams (not sure about 1500's) all use vacuum to actuate either the front hubs or center axle disconnect, even in 2016. Chevy's is an electronic CAD system.
jdla140 My Superduty has manual locking hubs and no vacuum lines whatsoever, and it's a lariat.
Looks like he took it for a test dive

A ford would not do the same thing? Would it float like a turd? I bet it would.
You guys aren't to bright. Chevy's slogan is "like a rock" so put your calculators and scales away.

Total loss or Total wash?
How did it go in the water if it was in park?
When you pull the boat on or off it the weight and jarring can cause the truck to slide. It's a scary thing. Always carry a brake pedal depresser that way all 4 wheels are locked not just the rears.
Well u know what they say...”Chevy runs deep real deep”😂😂😂
I don't think I've ever heard that before. Is it a slogan of theirs?
