She had to "eat" her sister and then basically serve as her replacement. It's honestly no wonder why she wanted to hide herself considering the amount of trauma she endured.

Then the father died, Nia was still alive because she was a flesh eater, and Dromarch returned to his core, later being reawakened by nia.

There's like a billion reasons I love Nia but I gotta say I really love the way they wrote in Nia's backstory. I love this idea that Nia has been a party member almost as soon as this adventure started and that in spite of that it's so late in the game that Nia finally shares about her past. It's kinda of just refreshing for how rarely RPGs have their characters hold out on that kind of stuff and it makes sense that considering how traumatic that experience is and what kind of personality Nia has that she wouldn't share freely share that with just anyone, she only does it because at this point she genuinely cares about and trusts the rest of the party to not only share this in conversation but actively want to finish telling the story because she WANTS them to know this about her. I have a problem with that claim though. She's stated to be a Flesh Eater, which is a Blade that's consumed human DNA. Blade eaters are humans that have a piece of a Blade attached to them. This is further backed up by the Indoline Loyalists accusing her of cannibalism as she's running from them. The "father" even indicates something's up by telling her that a piece of her "sister" lives on inside her and insists he call her Father, so it's evident they're not biologically related. Which is probably what caused her to start calling them her family. It's even shown that Flesh Eaters can live on without their Drivers, as Cole is still alive after Amalthus' death. Alhough he doesn't do so hot because he was dying anyway.

The twisted part to all of this is that Nia's powers as a flesh eater means she only got the chance to save those she cares about after her sister died and was fused into her body. Not only that but because she (evidently) "ate" the entire body she became forced to bear her dead sister's form in driver form. And after she just began to think of her driver as her father he dies too. Essentially her driver form being a painful reminder of the life she lost. At least she got to live a happy life once it was over

Something that confuses me is why Jin’s core crystal is completely red. If that’s because he ate a human heart, why don’t other flesh eaters have full red core crystals?
@@ParaternalSkies64 I think it was stated somewhere that Jin's Flesh Eater transformation was as close to perfect as it could be. Because of that, his Core Crystal turned red all the way instead of being the blue-pink mix that other Flesh Eaters have.
