I think everything in this game was pretty good except for the ending. I really like the direction that the game was going in regards to the MC realizing she needs to protect her baby as well as herself, and it feels like that's kind of dropped. I was hoping they would tie her survival of this back to her shoddy relationship and realizing that leaving that would be best for her child, but instead the ending is taken up by the killer's story which really wasn't that interesting imo and kind of weak. I think I would of preferred it if the killer was a pure evil antagonistic force that just existed to threaten you and your baby. The autopsy scene was pretty predictable and didn't add anything either. Other than that though, I think the pacing, atmosphere and cast of characters is really top notch. Props to Jordan King, I want to see what else he can do.
Almost feel that last sequence with the killer was trying to imitate Silence of the lambs a little bit with Clarice confronting Buffalo Bill and the lights going dark
that's exactly what i was thinking of! that, added to the concept that the killer murders their victims because the latter has what the former never will - it's a great homage
Hah, when I was a teenager in the 80s, I was blessed to have my very own TV set, all to my self in my bedroom. It had a 4.5 inch black-and-white screen and built in rabbit-ear antenna. I loved that thing.
This game should be titled, “being a woman ANYWHERE late at night,” because that’s the real horror here lol and your answers mirrored what mine would have been which I LOVE.
This is the result of a low-trust society. In societies that are monoethnic and low-crime, women don't fear being out late at night. And neither do men.
@@Mayhzon Japan would count as monoethnic and low crime but they still have rapists, serial killers, etc. Have you ever heard of Junko Furuta(sp?)? Read what happened to that poor girl. Or read about the Japanese man that murdered and raped little girls and sent the videos of him torturing, raping, and murdering the little girls to their parents. No country is truly safe for women to walk around by themselves late at night.

The giant "TIT" at 56:40 really caught me off-guard lol I really enjoyed the voice-acting and characters in this game!! Sara was such a fun protagonist. There was never a moment i felt annoyed or confused at her actions/monologuing, and the subtle character-building moments, like her comments on Peepaw's porn and "No offense, but I think you're the newest thing in this store", made me really like her!
I'm so excited to see John play this! I've seen others play it and enjoyed their videos, but John is one of my favorite content creators and I can't wait to see what he thinks!
The really tall old woman you meet must have been Samantha! the way she talks about "trying to find her" makes me think that she was trying to find her baby inside all the women she killed.
Might you be referring to Nightripper? It has some hobos as well and have similar ambiance with this game as well, not sure the guy's name is Joe as well tho 😂
I love the goofiness of many characters as it happens at nights and I love that hostility of everything around. Nights at the outskirts are scary, I felt this on my own skin. I absolutely adore games which use people as the main threat, these always have a way more realistic and terrifying vibe, it just frightens me
I am so glad you’re giving this game a shot! I had mixed feelings about it when I first saw a full play through, so I’m really glad to see what you’ll have to think about it.

The way he talks about the 90s makes my bones ache and bladder fail.
Ditto, the past was full of good times *got excited over the Gameboy part*
I'm from 1992. lmao
@@xxMiraclesMay wow same
@@grass7590 Haha, we'll be 30 this year... yay.
I started following John Wolfe when starting college a couple years back and needing something to get my mind off the classes and assignments while working full-time. Still one of my favorite streamers. It is refreshing to have someone who still makes quality content and hasn't changed like some others. Thanks John!
This has become my comfort video
I put this on during chores, games, just lounging around
"Amanda have some respect for the place that you live!" I felt directly attacked by that...... :O
32:32 after she hangs up he’s just stood there like “Hey this is a ripoff! She said it was 63 seconds!”
Played this the day it came out I never felt so much anxiety in my life. Glad to see you playing it
Almost feel that last sequence with the killer was trying to imitate Silence of the lambs a little bit with Clarice confronting Buffalo Bill and the lights going dark
that's exactly what i was thinking of! that, added to the concept that the killer murders their victims because the latter has what the former never will - it's a great homage
2 minutes and 20 seconds into the game and John has already given us good life advice.
Hah, when I was a teenager in the 80s, I was blessed to have my very own TV set, all to my self in my bedroom. It had a 4.5 inch black-and-white screen and built in rabbit-ear antenna. I loved that thing.
I like the old 80's trope of the killer somehow becoming some sort of paranormal, beastly entity because of prior personal trauma that they suffered.
@@Mayhzon Being monoethnic doesn't make countries any safer for women ...
@@Mayhzon You need to get out more then.

John: Anyone wears that plaid t-shirt you break up with them.
Cory in his playthrough: WHAT THE FREAK JOHN?!
The more I watch John Wolfe the more resilient to his snark I become. I still have to remind myself that every comment he makes isn't supposed to be taken seriously 😅
1:55 I am not kidding. I literally have the exact same button shirt and I am wearing it as you spoke about it.
I loved that you could read the comics, it's a gorgeous detail!
“Its ok someone graffitied a peace sign on the basement wall. We’re all good.”
This game's atmosphere and character building is really impressive, especially regarding Sara and all the NPCs at the strip mall you could talk to
The giant "TIT" at 56:40 really caught me off-guard lol
I really enjoyed the voice-acting and characters in this game!!
The look john makes at the camera when the pizza dude didn’t know who Louis Kennedy was lmao
I’ve been waiting for that notification and now it’s here I can’t wait for this play through
Haven't watched it all the way through yet, but I bet it's just as good, if not better, as your other vids! Keep up the good work man!
This came at such a perfect time, I needed it. John your videos are more than entertainment, they are an escape.
I've watched so many playthroughs of this and this is my favourite. I knew your playthrough would have so much wit, humour, and well-made remarks!

A John upload is just what I needed! I saw this game making the rounds but I'm glad I'll be seeing it through your playthrough first :)
I am SO glad John played this finally. I watched Cory, Yub and 8Bitryan play and I was seething with excitement waiting for john to play it too
The really tall old woman you meet must have been Samantha! the way she talks about "trying to find her" makes me think that she was trying to find her baby inside all the women she killed.
I see the title and think, okay John has a new video. I see the Puppet Combo graphics and immediately - ecstasy!
Was there a demo for this and did John play it? The 'hobo Jo' scare at the beginning felt very familiar to me.
Yes, no. Everyone else played the demo including MrKravin but John never did
@@AlmaWadeCrymsm Huh. I can't recall who I watched play it. I just assumed it was John bc he's the one I watch most often, lol
Might you be referring to Nightripper? It has some hobos as well and have similar ambiance with this game as well, not sure the guy's name is Joe as well tho 😂
22:39 it is so satisfying hearing someone else echo this pet peeve I've had for years
Niiiice. Had a blast playing through this one myself! Quite a ride.
I got my snacks, let’s go
tbh that bus sequence is just what riding public transit is like
"Joel Fucking wrote it" lmao
John imitating the Nintendo youtube videos was so spot on lmao
I saw this a few times on the steam store, it looked amazing and the reviews were amazing as well. I am glad to watch you play this!
22:19 This imitation of review game channel was so perfect, is kinda scary how good it was.
Would have been perfect if after saying "Do you talk to yourself like this all the time?" he just looked straight into the camera silently for a few seconds
Singing Happy Birthday when the phone rang had me rolling. The Vincent tone was perfect.
Ahh puppet combo games are so good. They're so creative. I wish they keep creating more of these kinds of games.
Interesting Note: You can actually read all those comic books. They actually designed a whole series of comics for this game. Incredible details overall, the different tv channels with advertisements, i just love the puppet combo games. thanks for the entertaining playthrough and your feedback.
I love John! His content is hilarious 😂
I’m glad I wasn’t the only one singing the number. What a great reference and song! Thanks John for your rendition too
...she could’ve rescheduled or skipped the job interview instead of risking her life for some laundry.
You are 100% my favorite channel for horror, your reactions are so good, right up there with critikal. people who don't get scared are the best to experience the horror experience with
My fellow Dark Deception fans. I am certain John Wolfe is aware Dark Deception Chapter 4 is out. We do not need to frenzy his channel with requests to play it.
I would advise we act civil towards John if we want him to play it because, if we don't, there would be a decent chance John will not play the chapter because of some more ravenous members of our fanbase who don't stop annoying people for DD content (You know who you are).
So the best way to get him to play it, is to be patient and civilized.
They've even come to his Twitch streams to constantly "wHeN JOHN, wHeN?!"
He's had to address this like a dozen times: that others were given codes and could play early - but he wasn't. 😫
@@AngeliqueStP You can see why I needed to make this message

As of now none of the Let's Players I've watched play this have caught that except you.
John I feel like I totally got what you was talking the NES :') lmaoo they really do be going into these annoying tangents whenever anything is brought up about it.
