When you close a freezer, you trap some air that is at room temperature in it. This air then cools and causes a reduction of pressure in the freezer (a partial vacuum). So the door is very hard to open. But a freezer is not airtight, so the air will slowly leak outside, which normalizes the pressure, and you can open the door again.
The game doesn't have a time accurate pressure and atmospheric system so don't be an autist and post the entire scientific explanation to a problem that isn't so deep. Honestly, overexplaining is the kind of cringe behaviour most people abandon after primary school.

I enjoyed the puzzle gameplay and running from the killer in the second act, but I agree with you John, I feel like the shocking aspects of this game with Mr. Shiny and Carol's childhood exploitation are just there for shock value rather than adding anything to the story. The goofy voice acting and over-the-top interaction with Mr. Shiny turns the actual horror of sexual harassment into "haha isn't this so weird and edgy?" It's so unnecessary since Mr. Shiny has nothing to do with the plot and ends up being gutted by the murderer right after you exit the room. Then it's especially gross when we learn that this character had been repeatedly raped as a child. The fact that has to go through all of this trauma such as rape threats, kidnapping, attempted murder, being stripped down to her underwear in a weird butcher basement.... it just turns the game into trauma porn and sends a weird message. It's upsetting because the only consequential part of her backstory is the fact that she started a fire that burnt her brother's face so he wears a mask. There are so many other ways they could've gotten the character to that point that didn't involve child prostitution. Like, it's fine to have these topics in your game if you've experienced it personally or treat them with the seriousness they deserve, but the whole part with Mr. Shiny and the ridiculous voice acting shows to me that this game is literally using it as shock value rather than having anything of substance to contribute. I've seen the motel portion before. I'm not sure how they're gonna spin the "sexual predator films his motel guests and the protagonist is an accidental witness to him getting murked" plot into a four chapter game. EDIT: Randomly including child prostitution just to shock us is...disgusting. Also not a big fan of the fact the killer is a run-of-the-mill slasher who's angry at his sister, rendering the creepy motel portion as nothing more than shock value. I'd have preferred a "you're stolen from a shady motel by a human trafficker and have to escape the building before you get taken anywhere else" plot. It would've fit with the motel section and played into the real life horror of travelling alone as a woman; danger is everywhere and everyone you meet is a potential threat. I have no issue with including heavy topics in horror but, if you're gonna do it, give the topics the gravity they need and a reason for existing past shock value. Trauma porn is lazy horror and making light of sexual violence is bad form.

man, as a survivor of child s.xual abuse, i'm so tired of people who know nothing about the nuances of the experience or the trauma afterwards trying to make it a part of their b-rate horror films. there are good, intelligent ways of incorporating the horror of the experience, and the horror of the lifelong trauma, into media. and i really appreciate horror media that does a good job at it- jennifer's body comes to mind immediately. this is just... not it, though. being exploited that was as a child is something that will stay with you forever, and permeate every goddamn fibre of your life. it will kill you eventually if you don't treat it- not only do i have PTSD and generalized anxiety, but i developed a potentially fatal autoimmune condition triggered by the stress i've been through during and after that time. i've been in treatment long enough that this ham-fisted, no-nuance portrayal of CSA isn't going to send me into a tailspin, but i absolutely needed time to deep breathe and recover after that scene. and for what? i didn't gain anything from this narrative, as someone who could theoretically relate to and appreciate it more than anyone. and, going by john's reaction and the comments, no one else did either. i just want horror creators to do better. i want them to care about the actual horrifying parts of real life enough to understand the nuances of what makes them awful and scary. how else am i supposed to process all this shit, lmao?
Thanks for the enjoyable playthrough :) (SPOILER, in case you want to watch first) Agree on the rewiev, the susan chapter felt quite cheap (with the van key choice). Also the bad ending doesn't make sense: Dylan could have killed Carol plenty of times but he decided to spare her over and over again. He was clearly going for something special due also to their relationships. And yet he decided to kill her on the spot for no reason. Also there is zero acknowledgment from Carol on Dylan (as you said he wear the same mask). Agree on the sex slave angle being for shocking value. I think they used that to hint on the fact that Carol burned down the house with the mother inside. Still, it could have just been an accident without the whole sex abuse-bad mother and it would have worked the same. They could have done someting deeper with the sex angle (with Mr Shiny and the mother and Carol's past) but alas it's just there to be edgy. Overall the game doesn't look bad but it's very similar (in tone, mechanics and story) to many other titles, expecially from Puppet Combo.
So funny. I laughed tears and you really called me out there with the mattress remark. My ex used to drive truck and kept bringing these extra truck mattresses home and i use one of them casually as a door right now 😂
I really think overall the creators did a mediocre job with this storyline. I know there's only so many ways you can make a Slasher plot seem fresh since everything's been done already, but what I would've done was kept the main story at the motel or pick literally ANY other setting but a big house. I lost interest the moment Carole woke up in the basement, because I knew from that moment it was going to the same formula of run and hide, and find items that no one would need if it was a real life situation. For all that, you can go just re-watch playthroughs/ play Murder House and you'll get much better plot setup for your killer and protag. Speaking of character building, I absolutely HATE how the creators of this game threw in child r*** into Carole's backstory for no reason. It didn't serve the plot and it didn't make me feel more invested into Carole's survival than I already was, which was not at all because she was blank slate.
I still have VHS and a VCR. I keep the movies I cannot find on DVD, or that have some kind of special stuff that DVDs don't have. I feel VHS were honestly the best. I am so glad someone shares my same old school ways hee hee.
I do love that YTs auto generated captions have gotten better but I do wish there was proper subtitles. I would be more than happy to contribute to something like that
Despite the graphics being horrible this game is genuinely terrifying. I dunno why. It’s way less “realistic” but using the same mechanics as say Alien Isolation or At Dead of Night … but the bizarre sex stuff and the killer making weird distorted animal noises … it taps into something primordial for me. Legit gave me the creeps that someone was creeping around my house and I armed my alarm 😂
Something in indie horror that I see too often is the use of satanic or pagan symbols purely to make the space creepier. I also don't like satanic rituals with ritual abuse (sacrificed animals/people) as a plot point for the same reason. This game is great, I just get taken out of the experience when the sigil of Lucifer is painted on the walls when there's no reason for it to be there. You can remove it and nothing would change.

Thank you, John, again, for no midroll ads!
mr. shiny takes his lord farquaad roleplay too seriously
Take a shot every time John says "Mr. Shiny", RIP.
"I have discovered your secret" is my favorite part of this game. Like damn, Carol.. why do you say it like that? lmao. Your commentary on this game is one of my absolute favorites.. I'm on my 4th watch through lol.
oh god I remember the "hairy p***y" line from the demo lmao. I love how uncomfortable this game is in every aspect.
"So how much of the trash would you say is tissues?" *instantly regrets asking*
Considering my bi-monthly mystery allergies, I can do 15-20 a day for the main two days. It's a lot of snot.
I absolutely love John's quick wit
Well John you weren't wrong when you said that voice would be the kind of VA that you would do for Mr Shiny at 04:58 cause I wasn't looking at the screen the first time and I genuinely thought it was your VA. So I was supremely confused by your comment afterwards and had to rewind to figure out what happened. 😅🤣
7:16 I love John's psycho analysis of the characters in the game
If they make a sequel to this, I hope there will be a "garbage day" reference in it. But in all seriousness, puppet combos games are always fun to see :3
been a long time viewer and i really enjoy the editing john's had for a while now. it's minimal but effective
5:55 I gotta say they nailed it with Shiny's voice actor. If you're going to have a guy in a game/movie be a pervy creep it's better to just go all out to at least make him an AMUSING pervy creep. XD
Idk about that the tone of the game was completely obliterated the moment that VA spoke and I couldn’t stop laughing at how over the top it was, kinda undermined the seriousness of the subject matter and game
Motels and hitchhiking are some of my favorite horror subjects.
god i have not laughed so hard in ages 💀💀 the shock factor this game is trying to push with those lines are just cringey ridiculous lmao
Been watching for ages, genuinely make my day better John. Love ya my boy
That was really fun! Thank you for playing, John!
Mr Shiny is the guy that has never gotten a girl in his life and thinks women give birth from their butt. Guaranteed.
Ikr? Stork stans are furious lol
The voice acting for Mr. Shiny hit me like a truck. Reminds me a little of Varre from Elden Ring but even more over the top.
Mr. Shunt’s voice sounds like the villain from the Barbie Princess And The Pauper
I LITERALLY READ IT AS “DADDY NIGHT” 😭
very different game, lol
I would imagine that finding a naked video of yourself showering by a creepy Hotel guy is something worth calling 911 for... 😐
The voice acting is top notch 6:12
When the killer pulled John out of the closet it reminded me of dead by daylight I was dying of laughter. 😂
John would always be the best he just placed the game normally not like everybody else to be screaming at every little kid
John, you're the only TH-camr I've been subscribed to for around a decade that still gives me a serotonin rush whenever I see a new upload. Thank you for being you.
Hm. To be that guy, serotonin makes you appreciate what you already have, and dopamine makes you want to seek more. So John giving serotonin after a decade makes a lot of sense. 😛
20:54 the matresses in indie horror games are everywhere EXCEPT beds
We still watch movies on VHS once in a while. It’s a fun bit of nostalgia and I like to see the old trailers for random movies at the beginning. It’s always a real grab bag!
Love when John plays the puppet games. They are always good
puppet combo games are so fucking high quality, I do not regret subbing to the patreon.
This isnt a puppet combo game ?
Overrated one trick pony garbage. All same copypasted games with irritating earrape and moronic killers. Their main gimmick was ps1 like graphics but even that they lost lol.
And now this one has corny ass voice acting and dialogue. Nightripper is probably the only decent one they’ve done
@@diarrhea373 it's published by them I think
@@n7_rr Published but not developped by
I was holding out for a promise of poignant observations, and you finally caved. Now I'm subscribed.
John in the deadly night demo
Susan approached the phone " i dont need to call anyone"
John "dont need to call anyone rn?? I disagree"
John in deadly night full game, "dont call anyone yet, theres no reason to"
Love it
I'm dead. The Mr Shiny voice acting is killing me.
I don't know about you guys, but every time I want a glass of water, I fill up my sink and then dip my glass into the water to fill it up
You truly live on the edge.
This is the best birthday gift! Thanks John!
1:17:54 - That impression of how horror game *connoisseurs* (Mm, yes, quite.) see games like Granny was great impromptu 😆
man, as a survivor of child s.xual abuse, i'm so tired of people who know nothing about the nuances of the experience or the trauma afterwards trying to make it a part of their b-rate horror films. there are good, intelligent ways of incorporating the horror of the experience, and the horror of the lifelong trauma, into media. and i really appreciate horror media that does a good job at it- jennifer's body comes to mind immediately. this is just... not it, though. being exploited that was as a child is something that will stay with you forever, and permeate every goddamn fibre of your life. it will kill you eventually if you don't treat it- not only do i have PTSD and generalized anxiety, but i developed a potentially fatal autoimmune condition triggered by the stress i've been through during and after that time. i've been in treatment long enough that this ham-fisted, no-nuance portrayal of CSA isn't going to send me into a tailspin, but i absolutely needed time to deep breathe and recover after that scene. and for what? i didn't gain anything from this narrative, as someone who could theoretically relate to and appreciate it more than anyone. and, going by john's reaction and the comments, no one else did either.
i just want horror creators to do better. i want them to care about the actual horrifying parts of real life enough to understand the nuances of what makes them awful and scary. how else am i supposed to process all this shit, lmao?
I think you're giving indie horror game creators too much credit.
Doubt their games are aimed at trauma survivors.
lol damn
It’s not a stranger’s job to placate you and accommodate your personal problems.
@@TrueAfricanHero your auntie was extremely good at placating me last night bruh. soppy toppy
Thanks for the enjoyable playthrough :)
(SPOILER, in case you want to watch first)
Agree on the rewiev, the susan chapter felt quite cheap (with the van key choice).
This was hilarious live on the twitch stream 😂 good editing on this one!
Creep: I will blank-ity blank your blank. John: You will do no such thing!
John-my absolute FAV horror youtuber and one BIG inspiration :) thank you for making my life a bit more enjoyable
This felt good at first, but felt like it devolved into a Granny Clone.
So funny. I laughed tears and you really called me out there with the mattress remark. My ex used to drive truck and kept bringing these extra truck mattresses home and i use one of them casually as a door right now 😂
Omg, truck mattresses lol. How's that door mattress working out?
@@haleymist09 it's in active use and works well enough. Fits perfectly into the door frame lol
@@thesecretshade lol that's so true!
I was going to suggest that you get a door but I have looked into buying doors and dang, hefty price.
Was waiting on your playthrough!! So excited to watch!
This mr shiny guy is off the rails.
The “pause” zoom in the the beginning was probably the best jump scare of the whole game 😂 honestly caught me off guard
I still have VHS and a VCR. I keep the movies I cannot find on DVD, or that have some kind of special stuff that DVDs don't have. I feel VHS were honestly the best. I am so glad someone shares my same old school ways hee hee.
There are no words to describe how much i love John's videos, love u John
I do love that YTs auto generated captions have gotten better but I do wish there was proper subtitles. I would be more than happy to contribute to something like that
I would appreciate that, at least you'd have punctuation.
Too bad YT doesn't trust us for that anymore.
The killer looks exactly like Trapper lol. I imagine Evan would be much scarier if he had bloodshot eyes
It's always funny seeing the intros again without the twitch perspective. XD This game was a trip for sure.
i died a little when the killer was going upstairs and john was just going to turn and go downstairs lol
Got whiplash from John giving us a Game Grumps reference calling Mr. Shiny Joke Yoda but he was not wrong
Awesome! I needed something to watch while working. Thank you so much! Hoping you're having a great weekend and tons of fun! Sending tons of love and good vibes for you, Kimmy, friends, family and doggo. Stay healthy and as happy as possible! ❤️
Okay... which dev HAD to allow that voice actor for Mr. Shiny because it's his brother's dream to be an actor and their mom had a serious talk with him about keeping his successes in the family and to help his brother because she won't always be around?? 😅
cant wait to see your playthrough
I like Susan told you off when you got out of the car like she was bada** if she was she would have told you in your face instead. I guess she was trying to get the last word but
Heyya Wolfe!! I love each video you make! You really help brighten my day
I like how the voice actors clearly speak English natively but apparently have no qualms about reading lines that were clearly written by someone who doesn't.
I snorted at, "Dude, there's no way you get laid talking like that." 😂
Oh hell, it gets even better. Or worse depending on your perspective.
Great video John. The game is okay and as per usual, you made it fun to watch.
My only criticism is that the story/background was unnecessary. Leaves too many questions unanswered and doesn't have anything to do with the gameplay at all.
