- With Dragon’s Dogma 2 right around the corner and based on everything we’ve seen of it so far, it’s looking like it may very well end up being an intriguing action role playing game.
From its huge open world to how heavily its emphasizing immersion, from its combat mechanics and Vocation system to the bevy of side content it’s offering, there’s plenty that we’ve seen of Dragon’s Dogma 2 so far that has got us more than a bit excited to get our hands on the game. As such, ahead of its release, here, we’re going to talk about a few key details that you should know about it. - เกม
The day/night cycle isn't new. In the first one enemies were stronger at night and you couldn't see much without a lantern.
Yeah, just shows the amount of people who actually played the masterpiece that was the first one. You could also find monsters that only appeared at night.

I just finished my first playthrough so I could decide if I want to play DD2 and the night cycles definitely were dynamic. I also only had one save slot so that doesn't seem to be new either. Great game, now I'm hyped for the next one.

@@vasheldiablo507 they used to be pretty good when they had competition (NFL 2K). They really got bad when they upgraded to PS4 and the game was actually worse than the PS3 version. Looking back I realize it was due to their greed .PS4 had just released so sakes wouldn't be that high . That was over 10 years ago and they still haven't recovered. It's the most pathetic franchise in gaming . I can't wait for take 2 to bury madden out back next to NBA live when they make NFL ganes again. . I'm guessing we'll see a similar gap in quality like we saw with NBA 2k and NBA Live. At least I hope so. I have no hope at all left for madden.

I just wonder if it's one save slot overall or one save slot for a single character. I would love it if the game had character profiles or something so I can make a beastren and human, perhaps male and female of them both, and play them when the mood strikes. I often play casters on female characters and melee on males.
@@TheKvaranthere’s only save file per account, you can however delete it and start over. The single file is meant for the pawn system to not get all jumbled up and overflow the system of unused pawns and needless space possibly to keep things nice and tidy and keep things from bugging out, ect. And if the game fallows suit, there’s another reason they only have one save file which ima keep secret to avoid spoilers.
It actually helps cause you can change and do whatever and have a never ending new game plus
@@itzbigchicano001yeah that makes sense. Guess I'll be spending more time in character creator than I thought to make sure I really REALLY like the result before starting. It's a shame though and personally I would've thought that they could make it so the pawn is only one per account, to solve the issue and each character I would make would use the pawn I made on my first run, but that's maybe asking too much.
Seeing Talos brings back such good memories of watching the OG Jason and the Argonauts when I was a kid.

Did anybody else see the mage! Do an ice spike attack! Whip out a Flamberge 2h Sword and use the previous ice spike as a launch point for a jump attack!?!?!?! Insane combat mechanics!
That is the warfarer not just a mage.
They can switch between classes to use different skills but not as strong as specialized classes lile sorcerer and warriors for example.
Saw a video where a ice attack left ice cubes which you could throw at enemies

2:58 throwing a pawn at the head of that ogre just had me spill my coffee. This is going to be absolutely insane. I remember what a pain these clowns were in the first game, now they seem like pushovers and I like it. Also, save slots are not an issue since I can always back up a save on the cloud.

I didn't want to say it, but I feel now is a good time to say it- considering I just preordered it for PC and I've been binge-watching DD2 since the reveal trailer. And thanks to watching this video, I know for sure I made the right choice in getting this, especially since I had fun in DD1. I'm looking forward to playing this, though of course I have to go through the powerful first boss of the game: Character Creation. Wish us luck Arisen.

Having the very first thing you mention be a "new dynamic day and night cycle" which existed in the first game demonstrates that whoever wrote this script doesn't know what theyre talking about.

You will need to make additional profiles on your gaming platform. I have 3 just for DD1 on my Switch. It sucks having to do that, I was hoping they would actually improve the sequel.

I pre ordered bc I loved DD1 and everything it represents as a game. So immersive. A king of unscrripted chaos. Such high hopes for DD2, maybe after 5+ years a game will finally surpass RDR2s open world.

I'm pretty sure you can't start as a mystic spearhead, you start as one of the basic 4, mage, fighter, archer or thief, but shouldn't be long before you can switch to the advanced vocations... Warfarer might need to be unlocked? Not sure about spearhead.. they mentioned finding maestros for a couple vocations.
This will be my game for the next year. I’ll need that much time. Got a job, kids, house to take care of. Guilty pleasure on the side ❤
Questions about pawns! I make one and have two made from other players. How do I recruit them? Can I choose to keep those two for the whole game? If that player is online am I able to still use the pawn they made? If someone uses my pawn and I get online does that other player lose my pawn? What if no one uses my pawn do they not get upgrades? What if everyone likes my pawn and it gets maxed out fast?
That one save slot kind of sucks. I get the concept of having it, but the player should be given the choice whether they want to have that challenge or not.

Another thing to know is that it uses Denuvo DRM and Enigma DRM. I have nothing against the game itself, but I am not buying it with that much DRM, I should be able to play single player games completely offline.
@@sophieedel6324 Well i mean the whole pawn system is built on online server connectivity. I know in the first one it works without but i don't find equally good pawns i feel like and i like the gifting and rating system. But to each their own.

You can make Elven style ears in the character creator that's recently come out.
Feels like the creator has some restrictions on it though. So as not to reveal too much about the actual game.

One of the very few games I'm getting day one.
I really hope there's a way to lock on to enemies in this one. The lack of any lock on was the most annoying oversight in the first one.
I personally LOVE the challenge of one save slot and the living with ones choices, my only worry is can I turn of the auto save feature? If you give me one slot to work with all game, I want to be the ONLY one using it WHEN I want to use it. In past games I''ve played I find autosave is more a nuisance than anything else and typically opt to manual save. Autosave has left me in the shittiest of situations in the past and I would hate to be at its mercy with one dang slot.
I wonder if there will be an easy mode like we have in the first game?

I always tend towards a mage or sorcerer. I always like having a distanced view of the battlefield to 'strategise' what me or my party is doing easier

5:27 this is not quite true. As it was stated that they "may" get infected by Dragonsplague. It's not a 100% certainty.

Not sure if I'll really this like. I don't think I really got into the first one. Remember walking back and forth and was like eh. My buddy said he quit because the walking back forth between all fetch quests wasn't fun

Imagine that when a Pawn is fully infected with the dragon's plaque. They become a dragon themself, stealing the heart of the next Arisen. Thus, continuing the cycle, just my speculation of course
That sounds cool but not at all how Grigori (the massive red dragon that eats your heart) is born. They might have also shown us what happens when dragonsplague reaches full effect as well. When it was first announced they showed a Dragonsplague infected pawn in the rift with black mist and glowing red eyes wince in pain, fall over, and a shadowy lesser dragon with glowing red eyes rising in the distance.
My presumption is that if your pawn becomes fully infected with Dragonsplague they flee to the rift, become a "shadow" dragon, for lack of a better term, and you have to fight them and defeat them to regain your pawn. With your two assisting pawns from other players. Which is also likely going to get them infected.
@@dotulord7775 If given the option. What if you choose not to fight your pawn when it becomes a shadow dragon or if you have to fight. The other 2 pawns that assisted you then becomes fully infected
@@Rizl-876 If you can choose to not fight it then I imagine your pawn will just remain in the rift until you eventually go to beat it down.
As for other player's pawns I'm going to guess they can't become fully infected when not in their own world. I don't know for certain but that's what I imagine to be the case.
Arisen only becomes dragon if he fails his quest to kill the predecessor dragon no?
@@stonaraptor8196 The arisen becomes the Great Dragon Grigori if they managed to slay theirs, but failed the trials of the Seneschal. Those Arisen who fail to slay their own great dragon are transformed into the lesser dragons. The drakes, wyverns, and wyrms.
How Dragons Dogma is still such a unique RPG after all these years is crazy. How no other open game has implemented its climbing, dark night cycle, or even the simple fact that you can pick up people and times and throw them is crazy.
Honestly once this game implements online mode it will be one of the biggest selling rpgs to date as they literally have everything already in place to create an online mode I get the idea of wanting an ongoing single player story with more games but they could honestly build onto the lore, races and classes while having an online mode I just love building up my characters and levelling up gearing up with my friends/siblings
@@Poisonedwight It won’t implement online and even if it did it wouldn’t be that successful seeing as how the online mmo version was shut down. Cost money to keep servers running.
@@Mohgenstein oh wow I didn’t know they had already implemented an online version I’m quite shocked as this game looks phenomenal and there’s only one more thing more fun than playing a game and that’s playing a game with friends but it saddens me that they couldn’t give satisfactory results especially since it racked up over a million downloads in the first ten days sad they gave up on it. I would have enjoyed an online experience but single player seems fun as well tbf though the online version release almost 10 years ago which we didn’t have as many powerful systems back then which could run such high graphics and high quality and versatile fighting styles I feel like possibly a remake in future would be successful since their last online game was besides the developers not being able to deliver satisfactory results but that’s just my opinion

The 1 save slot is fine and it is Not a game limitation or outdated mechanic its purpose is to make every action more important. So now you can’t save 1 hit from beating a boss to save scum the rare drop or kill NPCs to see if they drop something and reset to avoid punishment. I hope more games follow this design choice though not necessarily 1 file that particular restriction is to prevent pawn numbers from bloating as well as preventing exploits and as for the complaints about having to make multiple accounts be honest how many of your challenge run characters have you actually played with after finishing. Lastly the complaint about letting the players play how they want doesn’t apply in this context it’s like walking into a car dealership to buy a house you want to play THEIR game how you want your free to do so within the framework of THEIR game don’t like it don’t buy it

I've never played the original, but I l9ve simple rpgs like bethesda games and I'm a fan of fantasy worlds. BG3 was definitely a new experience for me and I absolutely loved it, but I'm still on the fence as of wether or not DD2 would be up my alley
If you liked BG3, Dragon Age, and games like that, but hate turn based: you'll love it. Strong recommend you go play the first one asap. Not because it's necessary to play it before the second, but just cause its an incredible game that exists and you could be loving right now.
DD2 is like Oblivion and Elden Ring having a baby, if that helps.

False info, you CAN NOT CHOOSE TO PLAY AS AN ELF!!!! Do some dame research and every official video says only two playable races, even on the website it says that. Yall are just pitiful with how much misinformation you all put out on this channel and never correct.
You can literally create an elf in the character creator.
@tango8011 it not a elf, it's basically a human cos playing a elf, EVERYONE in the game will treat you as human. But whatever helps you get "immersed" go ahead and keep telling yourself that.
@jvdarula You're awfully aggressive. There is a select character that is already defined as an elf. Since an elf in media has only ever been portrayed by pointy ears, I'll take the character I created to be an elf. If you don't think it's an elf that's fine. I'm not gonna lose sleep over it.

I just wonder are the enemies finite, or respawnable like mmo. Cause when you reach endgame and you do all side quests, it’ll just be an big empty open world.

It did mean one main character in the first game so I’m assuming it’s the same here
Fun Fact: The title of Arisen is more of a curse than a legend. If you know the story then yeah. Unlike Dragoborns, standard JRPG main character titles, etc.
Spoiler alert:
You have nothing. You are nothing but a battery meant to be tested if you are worthy of becoming the Battery of the next cycle and the act of using Godsbane does not end the cycle, but only frees you of the binds of the mortal flesh until the time comes that a worthy successor will take your place no matter how long it takes. It may take year somewhere between decades, centuries, even millennia and if you lose against the real final boss then you would be doomed to be the next one to find and test a worthy successor at the cost of your life if they succeed.
If you do accept the Dragon's bargain you may end up like Duke Dragonsbane or someone like Ashe, an Arisen who wanted to break the eternal cycle, only to be trapped in a cycle of his own where we can free his soul but not his body. His realm, a twist realm of madness and sorrow filled by powerful monsters, dead Arisen, and corrupted pawns wanting only to reunite with their beloved masters but with their minds twisted by madness that they could only attack us. What hurts more is that no matter how many times we finish the game, we only perpetuate the eternal cycle.
It also breaks my heart to know that both the Dragon and the Seneschal wants us to kill them. The dragon fights us at their full power, wanting to see if we have the strength to fight through the odds, using everything that they have during the last battle to both spare us via death and to find release in their own death. Even if we do kill the dragon, all those that they made to Arisen will age to how long they had their hearts inside the dragon.
The final boss on the other hand, is not fighting with his full power but only with the bare minimum of their power. They are the creator, and the battle is more psychological, only seeing if you have the willpower to see things through the end. If you are weak-minded, you can seek peace in an illusion, if you have a strong mind but got defeated, you will be the next dragon.
So even if we finish the game, there will be no reward for us, the best thing we can do is have our beloved pawn, the one who stood with us through it all, and with the Godsbane, purge our souls from our bodies to release our full power as the next creator and to have our pawn become ourself as a last gift for everything they did so they can become 'human'. The only time we can call upon our dear pawn once again is if the current successor managed to show their willpower is enough to the point where the creator will show their real face (In DD:DA, the first Seneschal we fight is Savan, then our characters we used to beat him and so forth).
I hope that in this game, we will have the chance to finally finish the cycle of Eternal Return, permanently.
Absolutely loved the first game, all that stopped me playing was a decision I made that cast the world into an eternal night which was just too bleak.

Can you change vocations during play?
Yes, it will cost a small amount of discipline points to buy a new vocation the first time but once you own it you can switch from any owned vocations freely with zero consequences and your stats will change depending on your currently equipped vocation so you don't have to worry about min maxing
If it works like the original then yes. Small cost to change first time but free after like emodevil said. ALSO you can use different skills you get from all different vocations (classes) so you can combine mage and sorcerer skills if you have both.
I HIGHLY doubt it but man do i hope we can make more than one pawn! its always been my dream to roam around with my friends lookalikes!
You can download other pawns so you might just need to make your friends make copies of themselves and download their pawns.

I'm about 99% certain you can still only make one pawn like in the first game. You would need to get your friends to make pawns and then hire them from the rift. Fun thing is, your friend's pawns are free for you to hire.

@@Ganubishorus I came up with an idea. Make multiple profiles and create your friends as pawns on each of them, friend the other profiles, and then hire them on your main.
Veteran monster hunter player here .... Never did play dragons dogma... But I've wanted to try....but I'm really excited to say that I pre ordered the dragons dogma 2 and seeing all the trailers is getting my hype ! I don't even know what vocation to use ... So many choices here... If I choose a vocation ,am I able to swap later???
I think so, but if you swap you'll have to start at 0 xp with the next vocation. So if u wanna swap mid game, u got quite the up hill climb to get ur character where u want it to be. I think this is why you'll be able to combine vocations. Im already thinking about combining the warrior and archer or the warrior and mage.
Yes, you’ll need some currency called discipline I believe and you just go the inn or respective trainer to swap buy purchasing the desired class and swap there. At least in DD1 it was at the inn
@@itzbigchicano001 Yes, that's how it worked in Dragon Dogma 1. In Dragon's Dogma 2 you will first have to unlock some of the covations through finding a specialist in the desired vocation. They will most likely give you a quest(s). And after that I believe you can unlock it with discipline.
Yes, you can switch your vocation anytime you want. But don’t be confused on what some replies have been saying. You can switch vocations whenever you want, and your levels will transfer over. If you were a lvl 99 wizard, you will then become a lvl 99 warrior. However, you will still have to unlock the warriors abilities all the same, which comes down to fighting monsters, with said vocation (which will be a minor setback)

the 1 save slot thing single-handedly might dissuade me from buying the game if it means I cant have several characters without deleting the old one. having several different characters that all play differently for me is a core part of playing rpgs.

Hoping its one save PER character since im an altaholic. i see people say you can do any class if you have the weapon like ff14 but i like playing different races and specializing each character instead of doing jack of all trades. Guessing there will be a MOD for more than one save on PC but still...

Exactly! Enjoyed the first one because it have quest markers and quest board..... This is a huge deal breaker for most dragon's dogma fan especially they made the map way bigger than the original without a fckin quest markers/quest board.
@@jonathan-us5jmI feel like the guy who made this game doesn't know or understand what players liked and didn't like about the first game. This is why Japanese made games don't often appeal to me, they don't understand the average Western player.
Do we know anything about the difficulty of the game? Will it be more accessible for casual players?
Dragon's Dogma 1 had a normal and hard mode. I expect it to be the same here.
Well it has no convenient fast travel so I expect alot of casual players to be turned off by that. Difficulty wise if it’s anything like the first game it’ll be accessible. You could heal at any time by pausing the menu so unless you get one shot you just heal up.
@@Mohgenstein The ferrystones and the ox wagons will be options for fast travel, but in regard to your health they did detail that your maximum health will be affected by the damage you take. You won't be able to heal to max without resting in a camp or at an inn.
@@Mohgenstein The first one was really difficult and slow for me, however i am impressed from the trailers for the secon one. If it's accessible for players who want to have fun with the game like me and not struggle, then i will play it for sure. However, i have not read anything about the difficulty of the game by any preview for the game. That's why i ask if somenone know anything.
@@ioannispatsogiannis7254 Which is a fair question to ask, but all we can really say is that nothing has been stated and we're assuming it will work the same way the first game did.
How is the day/night cycle new? It was literally one of the main features of the first game! if you didn't have a lantern and oil you couldn't see anything almost :)

I need a demo to see if the 30FPS isn’t an issue. I really love 60fps and don’t want to go back to 30.
It’s uncapped fps, still not ideal. Might even be worse then 30 since FPS will dip hard at intensive times.
I’m really hoping to hit 2k 60fps but I wasn’t aware that raytracing was an option until now so we’ll see😬
I recommend getting a notebook to keep next to you while you play to keep track of quests

I had seen this commented before and I'd like to point out a discrepancy.
The developers have stated that they removed the "quest board". Which was a physical board located at Inns where NPCs listed side objectives they wanted done. "Go fetch me 10 sunflowers and I'll give you a bag of gold." that kind of thing.
What people seem to think is that they removed the "quest journal", which is part of your pause menu and tracks the information of your quests and various side activities. I've seen nothing that says they removed the journal in their official statements. Just the quest board.
@newsoul.9 I doubt it will be the same as Elden Ring, but even so all you really need to do is look at your map for location details and read your quest information. Basic reading comprehension and a little legwork will be enough I should think.
@newsoul.9 I honestly don't know what to tell someone like that. It's beyond my understanding that anyone couldn't do it. Regardless of any of our opinions, the developers made the game this way and we just have to accept it.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, With so many vocations that people are going to want to try out it's kind of limiting to have one save slot
There are characters in the game where can switch between vocations 🙂 So you won’t be locked into playing just one. The idea is you start off as one of the four basic vocations, and as you get stronger and learn more you either switch to a different style, move up to the advanced version of your basic vocation or take a hybrid vocation that is a mix of two styles. Unless you really like your basic vocation, then you could just stay with that the entire game. 😄
@@Sleviin I don't know, if I tried different vocations with my same character I would get really sick of seeing my character. I would think for variety sake you should let us try different characters with different races since they're offering different races now
Perhaps they'll do multiple characters but one save per character?

As someone who played previous Dragons dogma... This is the usual.
Every time i play a game with no markers, i end up not seeing half of the map after i finish the game.
I going to have my iPad ready to journal as I go. Getting old means you forget things easier 😅
This games spell list looks like it will rival Elden Ring. Definitely getting this on Day 1
