A Twitch streamer, Oroboro, was able to play the game in advance and one of his takeaway was that the framerate on PS5 was bad as it dipped to the 20s. Capcom however did promise they will fix it before launch. He did however, posted a gameplay video on his channel a day ago and it looked fine. Maybe it was fixed, maybe it's not. Who knows what build he was playing. Anyway, just something to keep in mind. Maybe hold-off on the day 1 purchase just to be sure.

This is on an old build. Multiple people, including IGN, have stated that Capcom was really emphasizing that this was not the final build. Sounds like they've probably got a lot of performance issues sorted out already for full release. Not to mention, this preview was running at 4K according to IGN. 30 with a couple dips is about what you should expect at that resolution.

The open world not having a lot to do or large expanses of just traveling back and forth without a lot of fast travel option could be a determent to the enjoyability and player retention. But we will just have to wait and see. edit: and as a RTX 4090 users DLSS3 just causes ghosting issues and raytracing is just giving up frames for some better shadows which if you're a FPS whore like myself turn off anyway. I never could understand how those are selling points mind well say they have headbobbing and motion blur as a selling point too.
If you care about frame rate and are sensitive to slight hiccups, then yes it's a problem. However, it's been stated by IGN that this is the frame rate when playing at 4K. Most people don't game at that resolution. Drop it down to 1080 and you'll be getting 60 fps no problem.

Rise of the Ronin first then this, I'm busy with Rebirth currently. Gonna wait to see how this goes, some of the choices the devs made e.g the fast traveling and one save file might get old fast maybe evening annoying.
Tbf my issue with no fast travel is not because traversing the open world is boring, e.g cyberpunk 2077 has amazing traversal (esp if you’re on a bike). My issue is it’s time consuming. When you have a full time job, a social life, and a romantic partner, and only extremely limited time to play video games, the ability to get to the destination quickly is pretty essential.
Maybe don’t play long immersive video games if you have a limited amount of time? You can always play them later, they’ll probably even be on sale and have all their issues ironed out.
These facts were hardly the most important ones you need to know before deciding whether to buy this game or not. The narration was horrendous as well. An all round terrible video.
tbh the biggest negative about this entire game is still one character save slot. i dont care about just having one save slot per character but please give me more character slots. i just want to explore your game why are you limiting it so damn much its terrible game design.

Looking forward to it but tired of hearing how traveling between areas when i just want to get to my destination will be fun. Time spent is still time spent so even if there are interesting things happening, if it means instead of me getting to get to doing what i wanted to for todays playtime ininstead spent it all traveling then thats still not fun overall.

However I don't believe what I said was wrong. People are too used to things being done right here and right now. People want to rush and move on to the next thing. People have forgotten how to slow down and enjoy a game that took people a long time to craft. This game might not work for you, and this is just my opinion but even games that give you a lot to do, like Suicide Squad fail. I stand by my opinion on this and as someone who doesn't have a lot of time to enjoy games anymore this game sounds perfect to me.

I can't see them backpedalling on any of it, and I hope they don't. It's not much different than how the first game did it and I had no problems with that at all. There IS fast travel, and it's honestly pretty convenient because you're able to create your own fast travel points. It just comes at a cost. As for the boss-the actual fight is a last resort if you fail the riddles. If you're worried about getting one shot, then maybe just don't be an idiot and make sure you're prepared. According to the devs, most people probably won't even find that boss in the first place.
Itsuno, the director of the game isn’t going to patch anything. He doesn’t care, this is his passion project and he knows what he’s doing, a vocal monitory saying they don’t like certain decisions won’t effect him. We need more directors like him who have the balls to stick to their original vision.

@daizbid It's not necessarily a problem. I'm worried about the scale of it. I've been noticing less fleshed out storylines and more focus on the quick "go there, get that object type of quest." Most open world games have been like that for years now. I just hope they created an engaging story.

That's literally not true. It's unlocked and averages 30 when playing at 4K on consoles. Lower resolutions will see higher frame rates. Please do even half a second of research before speaking.

I mean, dragons dogma doesn't have fast travel for the most point either... The riftstones and portcrystal system caps at 10 waypoints in DD1
