    The Final Battle is so iconic because it brings in the game's theme that you hear every time you boot it up into a climax. It was an awesome insertion and it hit hard.

    • @leiderhosen7110
      @leiderhosen7110 2 ปีที่แล้ว +41

      It's fitting too because it brings everything full circle.
      Marika created the Tarnished when she removed grace from Godfrey and his warriors and turned them against the Golden Order. You are a descendant of those warriors.
      You defeat Godfrey--your forefather--and prove that you have surpassed your ancestors, and fight Radagon...who IS Marika, but also the embodiment of the Order.

    • @MaxMustermann-hy9in
      @MaxMustermann-hy9in ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's actually even more common than that. Because I'm pretty sure that this is also essentially a rearrangement of the Demon Souls Main theme, which is also the theme of Demon's Souls final boss (False King Allant). They reused it as the ER main theme.
      I also think (but I'm not sure) that they used the ER main theme in both Margit's and Morgott's theme, where I think its first notes are repeated by the brass instruments in the background throughout the track. I might be wrong about that one though.

    • @skyofwar123

  • @artemisflow6658

    The reason why Godfrey's phase themes differ so much is because of what happens inbetween the phases in the game itself, the fight and the character completely turn on their heads

      Tbh godskin apostles theme stick out way more than the rest, not that it outclasses every other theme (kinda does tho) but the reserved and quick attacks from the godskins (and usually players refusing to brawl it out with them)make the arena quiet often, enough to let you hear the track.

    I think the reason why rennala’s phase 2 theme is so different is because the lore attached to it.
    The tarnished meets Rennala in this state of limbo, or slumber, due to her previous grievances. Ranni, her daughter, saw that the tarnished was trying to kill Rennala. Before the tarnished could, Ranni sent out an illusion or spectral projection of her mother at the height of her power for the tarnished to fight. Not only as a warning to not kill her mother, but to show the tarnished that her mother isn’t someone to take lightly, despite how she may appear to us. In the end, we end up not killing Rennala but rather bringing her out of her state of limbo.
    Most boss themes have a very grand, powerful, ominous, or terrifying atmosphere to it. The theme for Rennala was designed that way to feel a lot more personal. This guy is a great musician for noticing the difference 1:23:50

    If you absolutely loved these tracks from Elden Ring, then you'll likely come to enjoy the ones from a few of Fromsoft's other games such as Dark Souls 3, and Bloodborne. Fromsoft like to follow a sort of philosophy that their music would often better portray what they should for the moment, mainly the bosses themselves. Every song is carefully catered to better tell the light of the boss. Their story, and their significance to that moment. As to be expected, some take a bit more of a push to get that last bit of their story out of their mouth as they go either more enraged, desperate, or become more bare with us. I primarily suggest those two as they're two of the fuller set without anything less of inspiring. Could argue maybe Sekiro also into that list, but I personally don't get as musically hyped for Sekiro tracks, even though I agree certain ones were certainly quite enjoyable in their respective moments such as Lady Butterfly.

    • @tgadin
      @tgadin 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      This is not true. Maliketh is Marika’s shadow. Like how Blaidd is Ranni’s shadow.
      Marika removed the Rune of Death from the Elden Ring and gave it to Maliketh to ensure the god’s safety. There was no previous owner of the rune of death and Maliketh only uses the rune of death in his second phase, where it is infused in his greatsword. He never uses it “like a dagger” this comment is strange asf lol.

    My absolute favourite still is the final fight, Radagon + Elden Beast. There ain't nothing as out of world as these two back to back. At one moment you are fighting this glorious fight to finally turn it all upside down and the music just pumps so hard It feels heroic and like the players destiny. You come out victorious, only to face something out of your world. The music fades into this very calm and majestic harmony as you fight something far greater than yourself and everything you held to be important up to this point in the game. The music begins to make you feel like you are about to end something that is just not meant to be ended, but then the "plin plon" plays, paying homage to Gwyns theme all the way back from Dark Souls 1, reminding me of the journey it took to get to this exact moment, then the true final battle commences.
    I've never had a more personal connection to a bosses/games track than this one. This one is thematically rich, tells a story without words, calls you back to the beginning of your journey and makes you wonder if what you have done was truly the right way.

    (spoilers)
    The Godskins and the Black Knives both used Destined Death as methods to hunt gods. The Godskins had their Destined Death sealed away by Maliketh, which (I believe) causes the black-and-white Godskin flame we see in game. Meanwhile, the Black Knives used a fragment of Destined Death that they stole from Maliketh. Thus, it makes sense why their themes would be similar.
