I appreciate that you're talking about eating disorders and obsession of body image in a video about fitness. It may not concern everyone but for those concerned it is so important, and it is not that often addressed. I would like to add that another mental-health risk is sport addiction (sometimes comes with an eating disorder but not always). That being said, I can't wait to start jumping rope to have more energy and feel more coordinated and fitter :D
Thank you! I talk about it because I've seen lots of cases, unfortunately. Sports addiction, as you mentioned, is also pretty common, and it comes with body dysmorphia, too.
This is encouraging, thank you. I just started jumping rope 100 is my routine @ the moment. Fractured my ankle 18 weeks ago- still sore, but much better . Hope this will improve range of movements and strengthening my ankle

I have extra bone growth in my right foot, i.e., swelling and pain so even jogging and dancing hurts!! 😢 I wish I could jump rope as i need to lose atleast 20 kgs 😢
Hey, you can still focus on low-impact, or even no-impact moves. For example, cycling or rowing (even rowing with elastic bands or a pair of old stockings placed around your soles.) Even modified aerobic moves can help (i.e., jumping jacks from a chair = just move your arms and legs to the side or static squats + punches) or just upper body + pilates. Another solution is to book an online call with a fitness trainer and simply ask for a personalized plan.
I'm so sorry to hear that! What sort of injury? But hey, take it one step at a time. Maybe you can do other stuff now to maintain your cardiovascular fitness, like the stationary bike or even chair moves (e.g., chair jumping jacks or chair jabs) and then at some point you can be able to return to this 💕
@@Fitnessdy I do a bunch of other stuff but jumping rope was really my passion. I was obese and start doing it with no warm up and no professional guidance. My hips are damage for good now... I maybe get back to try if I lose something around 20kg. So I am losing weight with this goal in mind. Who knows...
Jump rope burns calories and if you're also taking breaks, that means you're combining aerobic + anaerobic energy systems, which accelerates fat loss. Therefore, you're also losing fat deposits from your arms. But for more toning, add some arm workouts. Push-ups and tricep dips to start - 3x per week :) and you'll see good progress in 4 weeks.
Not sure to understand what you mean when you compare jump ropes to running on the treadmill for 30 minutes “for that vo2 max”. Does that mean that to improve your vo2 max it is easier/take less time ?
Yes, it'll be great because you'll be doing an aerobic workout. In the aerobic energy system, you're primarily burning body fat and oxygen as fuel. In the anaerobic system (which feels like you can't breathe bc of the exercise intensity), you're using glucose as main energy source. So yes. Do this + a bit of strength training (nothing fancy, squats, lunges, and bridges = 10 reps each for 3 sets). Also, don't forget your upper body (push ups, pike push ups and tricep dips hit almost all spots for beginners). Good luck and keep us posted on your progress 🩵
Plyometric training does strengthen the bones, yes. Anything that adds more resistance does. For example, did you know that tennis players have 20% more bone mass in their racket arms? 😀 that's really neat!
@@Fitnessdy yes sir..is skipping good for pcos condition or it will rise pcos syptoms..Bcse some people telling heavy workout will rise cortisol level..it also leads pcos condition worst...that's why I'm asking sir...
They raise cortisol if you work out for hours and never calm down :) There's a difference between spiked cortisol briefly, and raised cortisol levels in the long-term because of chronic stress. I would recommend for 15-20 minutes, if no other health issues are noticed and if the symptoms aren't severe.
I think you can do it with barefoot shoes. The risk of doing jump ropes without any shoes is hurting your ankles. You can try skipping and see how you feel/ if you can control the move.
1 hour of jumping rope provides a serious cardio session, burning more calories and improving endurance significantly, but it also increases the risk of fatigue and overuse injuries if done daily without rest. 30 minutes strikes a balance, offering substantial calorie burn and muscle toning without overexerting the body as much. It’s sustainable for regular use but still requires proper recovery. 15 minutes is ideal for a quick, effective workout, boosting cardio and agility without the same risk of wear and tear, but the gains will be more moderate compared to longer sessions.
Okay the easiest way to start is visit fitnessblender.com and start doing a couple of their free programs. Not videos, but 1-week or 2-week programs. Rinse and repeat for 6 weeks and then let me know how it goes 🙂
You have different options. You can simply mimic the move without yhe rope if the problem is you're getting tangled. And you can try intervals if the problem is you're getting out of breath fast. 30 seconds on - 15 off or 40 on + 20 off are great intervals for a longer aerobic workout. If you want to train your anaerobic zone, do 20 on + 10 off. Good.luck and let me know how you feel!! 💕
So there's this study I recently made a video about that speaks just for your problem. Basically, cardio + targeted abs exercises are best to reduce belly fat. The study said 15-16 min cardio + 10 min abs. So yes, jump rope + abs daily + clean eating at a slight calorie deficit and you'll see the difference in a month. Good question. There are sinilarities, but rebounding is less tough on your joints and the jumps are easier. That means rebounding isn't as good for muscle building and explosive force. Also no arm work. But since you're jumping on an elastic surface, it seems easier so people are likelier to use it and reap benefits like lower body force, weight loss, and lymphatic drainage.
