“ we went to a biohazard concert afterwards and we were stage diving.” Imagine being a fan and seeing Bas Rutten throwing his whole body at you from a stage.
bas ruttens fight IQ is insane that is what makes him an excellent analyse and commentator you are a true legend of the sport el guapo god speed and party on
Cant believe I thought to search Bas and I manage to pick just as he is uploading all his fights. Everyone loves Bas for his personality so to hear them commentated is great, also helpful for people like me who aren't very knowledgeable about the technical side of MMA.
These breakdowns are awesome, thanks for putting them on youtube for free, you could have easily charged for this info. One of my favorite old school fighters, thanks Bas!
i love this series, because it shows you a kickboxer learning mma in front of your eyes some of the old fights had a certain magic because there were secret techniques and the fighters had to be a little more creative, because they hadnt seen 1000 of people do it before them
The reason the referee stopped the fight in those positions was because the fighters were on the ropes. This was fixed in PRIDE - where the referee would just scoot the fighters away from the ropes or have ringside officials pull back the ropes for more space/push the fighters back in, away from the ropes or place them in the center of the ring in the same position they were in or in some instances just let the fight continue without intervention. Pancrase referees would just restart the fight completely with both guys back in the standing position. When they would do this it wouldn't count as a rope escape because neither fighter wouldn't reach and grab the bottom rope. This was done to avoid the fighters from falling out of the ring or getting stuck in between the ropes. I hope this clears it up.
The ref. had never seen a knee bar before apparently. Break in the middle of a submission attempt in today's MMA would mean the last match for any ref.
That blond woman Kimberly stood up while arm triangle was in progress, and Joe mentioned her a lot of times as the least competent ref. She still has her job. If there is no logic, follow the money.
My favorite fighter by far. Amazing full force strike percentage is the best ever. That makes for entertainment. A striker that had to play in a grappling world and succeed. A movie could be based on that. But MOST importantly, Bas is one hell of a good guy. A real decent person. Quality.
Ref probably broke those positions because Bas was in contact with the ropes. That seems to be the only common point in two positions and the only logical explanation. Either Bas didn't know the rules perfectly (as he admitted in his earlier fights) or the referee made a mistake. Even if the ref had made a mistake, I am sure this was what he had in mind.
I would really appreciate Ken commenting on this with you. You should consider this type of post in the future. Though this comment is way late, I think my suggestion has not happened. You are both great fighters.
That is the policy, but look at the end when he's attempting a triangle. Half his body is on the other side of the ropes, and the ref didn't break it up there....
@@danielgilly5976 Bas' body was, but he was the one applying the submission, not Frank. In the previous 2 instances, Frank was always at the ropes when Bas had the hold. Try not to be an idiot.
Were the referees corrupt or something?.. Everytime you were fighting with the Shamrock's .. they stopped too early when you were in a dominant position.. wtf
It's a shame bas never comes out and says that if someone is touching the rope during a submission it is to be broken up... alot of dummies in the comments upset about such a small detail.
One comes for the trousers and gets hooked by the boots. Not true. I do not know why but rutten has a compelling personality. May be he is one of those rare people that really like themselfes and therefore is true and likeable.
submissions are cool but all the waiting for someone to make a mistake is super boring, and it really sucks the referee and rules seemed to be biased. stand up is really exciting though, even more then most ufc i think. i really wish there was striking at any time on ground or better yet just have knockdowns.
Looking at those breaks when Bas had knee bars locked in, there must have been something going on there surely? Fight fixing in favour of Frank? Bas speaks highly of him so probably nothing to do with him but at the very best that ref was an idiot.
+DaUsher bas was literally ha ging out the ring when frank was dominating in this fight and the last and they didnt stop it unless bas grabbed the rope. Frank didnt grab anything.

Has had one of the best front kicks of all time, of all martial artists. It was lightning and thunder. Two great fighters here.
The amount of respect in this match is just awesome.

Bas Rutten and Frank Shamrock stave-diving to Biohazard in Japan. Would love to see a video of that!

+Phill Gizmo that's Becouse the promotion doesn't hire the refs the state athletic commission does that's why her and steve mazzigotti still have jobs
again the knee bars were broken because there are rope breaks in pancrase
Learn the rules of Pancrase.
They were under the ropes home slice.
High quality video, greats fights and the best caster to me. Thanks very much, Bas.
Both of you are in such premium condition. Love ya Bas

Bad loves fighting so much he gets excited explaining how his opponent attacks him😂
You're the man Bas! Thanks for having this whole fight on your channel posted so that your fans don't have to pay to watch it!
He sounds so nice and kind, like a foreign kindergarten teacher
God help you if you bully a classmate while Bas Rutten is the teacher
@@UnusuallyLargeCrab omg that would be hilarious. All it takes is one liver punch
Love how you and shamrock are friends after every time
Getting unreasonably excited hearing this took place at Korakuen hall because I'm the biggest Hajime no Ippo fanboy oof.
You cant tell me these two look like real life action figures..kung fu grip and everything
Bedankt voor de video Bas!
you are the best commentator ever.
You are awesome. So much respect for competitors in this great sport.
two knee-bars and a near triangle at the end; epic!
Great sportsmanship at the end. Always good to see.
I am really enjoying these Bas. Thanks.
i lost it when he said the power of Christ compels you
Are you still alive
I loved all of Bas Vs Frank shamrock fights
Bas' weakness seems to be his takedown defence
Bas' only weakness is Chuck Norris.
He says so near the end of the fight
tehf00n Ha, Bas would whoop Chuck in his prime.
LOL bas drinks franks water
Bas you're voice is relaxing like ASMR

These judges/refs be hating on like Bas Rutten
わかる。あそこでのブレイクはストレンジシチュエーション! 17:40
At first he seemed cocky but in the end with all the sportsmanship and all, Frank seems like a real nice guy
Bas, you are sincerely hilarious
17:49 you touched the side of the ring with your toes, that's why they stopped the fight, I think sir...
two legends
Bas all calm and relaxed and Shamrock all roided outta his fooking mind
Looks like the policy in this event was to break anytime the fighters got too close to the ropes.
That is the policy, but look at the end when he's attempting a triangle. Half his body is on the other side of the ropes, and the ref didn't break it up there....

Bio Hazard, BBC... used to love going literally off the walls at their shows. Rip. Boston Mike aka Foster.
Awesome !!! Biohazard were there watching
Bas always reminds me of Zangief from Street Fighter.
The music at the end is aManic Street Preachers song, Tennessee
was that the rope break wrestling rule?
much more respect between the fighters back in the days! i guess japan is different.
Imagine these two specimens stagediving from Biohazards stage 😂 You almost don't wanna be down there catching them 😁
OMG a BioHazard concert wahoeeeee .. super good band hehe
Story between Bas Rutten and Shamrock brothers....
Frank looked hyped up on catnip.
That ref seemed biased af towards Frank
you got me at Biohazard!
should have done more calf/ thigh kicks
why are rope escapes a thing?
Is this fighting?
Were the referees corrupt or something?.. Everytime you were fighting with the Shamrock's .. they stopped too early when you were in a dominant position.. wtf
Mark's piece of cake yeah they were.
@@barneyh7014 No, every time they went near the ropes they break up the fight. Pancrase was made by a pro wrestler so they used pro wrestling rules
Mark's piece of shit more like. You dumbass fuck. You don't even know the rules.
The ref's were always rooting for the other guy, it seemed.
Ha that's fucking hilarious Thinking just the same, 12:06 no take down defense. Pretty wild watching a career develop.

Shamrock one that fight hands down!
Who Win?
Yea he might have got the knee-bar but Shamrock couldve just tapped the ropes.
They are using the Rope breake Rule fom Pro Wrestling!

The ground game without strikes just looks..... Awkward....

you should have knee barred the ref. for that Bas ;D thx for awesome videos = )

I have doubts about the integrity of that ref.
what i s this shit? bout great figthers but no striking?
The rule was no closed fist strikes to the face and a gentleman's agreement of no striking on the mat.
oh great... thanks men.... you are the first who responds to my words!!!Sorry for my poor english i am argentin!!!!
(:
Shameful refereeing.
Looking at those breaks when Bas had knee bars locked in, there must have been something going on there surely? Fight fixing in favour of Frank? Bas speaks highly of him so probably nothing to do with him but at the very best that ref was an idiot.
Bas doesn't understand why the ref keeps stopping his knee bars, but both times his legs were clearly on the ropes lol it's a rope break Bas
he could've won so many times without that "flunky" ref! always making him stop, right when he was about to win!
They were at the ropes. Therefore, break.
Learn the rules.
+DaUsher bas was literally ha ging out the ring when frank was dominating in this fight and the last and they didnt stop it unless bas grabbed the rope. Frank didnt grab anything.
Yep, the ref had a crush on Shamrock again.
But - Bas had clearly never wrestled or anything.
Shamrock versus shamrock. Liddell versus ruttin(ruttin woulda whooped him) Rampage Jackson versus tank Abbott
crazy ref interferences
Lol Bas how many times have you wished you had the ropes to escape?
Stop crying about the ropes when your ring positioning is bad.
u LOST that fight for me !!! against randleman u lost too!!!!
