    Everytime a bully (usually a bigger kid) tried to pick on me or fight me I always stood up to them and fought back. I was terrified as I was doing it but I couldn't help it, I just had to fight back. As a result I wasn't bullied and as I got older I had no problems. I'm not tough, I'm not a fighter but there was just something inside me that made me push back even if I was scared.

    I’m 42, more than 30 years in martial arts, I was bullied in middle school, actually because I was taking karate lessons instead of playing soccer and their argument was always “I can beat you even without karate”. But that helped me when I was ambushed at the town fair and I knocked out one of the bullies. They stopped making fun of me. I didn’t even wanted to go to that damn fair…

    Great discussion. A negative untruth always seems to travel fast, and is the one thing that gets focused on in the midst of many good things, sticks like super glue, and unless you have absolute proof to the contrary, such as recording, is impossible to convince people otherwise, and becomes your whole reputation. When I was in computer customer service, where we had customer survey cards that would be returned, there was a saying for this: “One 'Aw Shit' Wipes out a Thousand 'Attaboys'."

    I was just a kid and pre-teen when I took care of bullies, but no doubt, violence solved the issues, and quickly at that, contrary to the current stupid trend. Like if going to a teacher, parent, etc. will solve this. At that age, the "violence" is not that dangerous at all. No weapons, no punching power really so hardly ever any KOs just some minor pain and bloody noses.

    • @quickdrawmcgraw3567
      @quickdrawmcgraw3567 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Until that kid steals his dads gun and shoots you in your ass for embarassing him and "ruining his life". Happened at my school, so when I trained, I never wanted to resort to violence (only last resort), because you might be a better fighter, but you never know how far somebody else is willing to go to "win"

    • @YellowPaint100

      That's just why I feel kids should be allowed to fight. Plus they learn to pick themselves up & face conflict. Then when they're big enough to really hurt ppl, hopefully they won't want to, because they know it could go either way.

    Bullying is fundamental to growing up. To finding self assurance and where you stand when confronted with static in your life. I was bullied a lot in 6th grade till one day I stood up for myself. Everytime after that I stood up for myself and if some threw the first punch I ended it after that. I threw a kid down a flight of stairs once. No one messed with me after that. I was a popular kid by the time I was in 9th grade. I found my confidence and self respect. Then others respected me. That lesson changed my life.

      It's such a normal thing we don't even have a word for it in my language. Took me a while to wrap my head around the concept when I was learning English. I was viciously bullied as a kid, but I just saw it as dicks acting like dicks, nothing strange.

    It was like this ...ok who did what to you and why ?
    My excuse Didn't matter ,3 boys attacked me no reason ,,he was much bigger I didn't do anything wrong ..
    Yeah right ... do you know where they are now ? Euh yes..
    OK go back ,on your way you put some rocks in your pockets look for a big stick
    Walk towards them and hit the first one with that stick .. and the rocks ?

      Who are you trying to impress? What you describe is not the situation for many kids today. It is a tougher world for them now than before. Deck your bully and expect to be harrassed irl and on the social medias and worse, for a long time. You can expect to be moved from the school and be reprimanded, while the bully goes free. But of course, YOU would be such a tough kid today that the bullies wouldn't dare do that to you. You ignorant dingo.

    • @PainInTheS
      @PainInTheS ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dutchman here.....exactly the same as described.
      I used to be too soft, while being bigger than most my age.....guess it was due to that, I was tall and most figured I was older than how I looked and so didn't behave that way. Anyway, at one point my father was done when I came at the door again crying and told me to get a big piece of wood and club the guys bullying me.......and I did. Thankfully not one of those guys directly but one of their bikes, which they jumped off and ran when I went at them in berserker mode. The bike took serious damage. So my father got a visit from another father, whom agreed I should man up, both had a good laugh, damages covered by insurance, all good......after that those other kids became neighbourhood friends I played with.
      When I was 12 I noticed myself I had to be careful hitting people, as not to permanently damage them. Just like Bas my parents moved, from a small town closer to Amsterdam and being the new kid they will try you......I waited for the right guy to challenge me, beat him into total oblivion....a construction worker had to pull me off him as the whole school watched this happen. Never ever had any problem with people after that, I now was that guy you better not messed with.......great. I was.....am, a real big 6f6 guy, shy and silent type.....grew a bit more social over time, but deep inside I'm that same kid......leave me alone and things will be fine, push me and you'll be in a world of pain. Never needed any martial arts for that and I have fought guys like that and with guys like that.....the latter who always told me they wouldn't like to face me, the former learned that the hard way. 🤣

    Hi it's Simon again... The thing is Bas the trendy man is that if you ask all the gossip gilrs like Suying, Julie and all the gossip girls is that if you want to go very far in time like high school in th 90's then I was not the bully... I was the nerd getting bullied so...
    While you're there can you make sure that GSP also clearly get the message.

    I was a small kid. Picked on a lot. Lived in a tent at a KOA for a few years. We were poor.
    So I learned early, I had to fight back. Luckily I was quick and able to pop a nose at 13. So I only had to fight 1-3 times a year...some bully would pick on my friends, not me. I would not let that happen while before high school. In high school the fighting went down by a huge factor as the end was worse. Maybe 6-7 fights the whole time. Got my first knock out. Funny. In the movies the guy fly's backwards. Not evern close. Dude went down like wet rag. bluuump.
    I'm old now, 50's. Still can't stand them fk's. When i see it professionally today, I'll assist the person with advise and perhaps some backup.
    Although those teens and twenties...that was fun. I dont' remember the pain, I lost a few for sure.(hint for child psychologist, mind fucking only works until the kid figures it out, but basic pain lesson can keep a kid out of jail and physical pain cannot be recalled. Only the lesson of "the world doesn't care what you think is right...THIS is right and you were wrong stays forever. Not abuse but training) But at least I stood up for what was right.
    by the way, my parents were wonderful. Only got spanked twice. Once for hitting my younger sister and once for stealing. Both before 7 years old.
    I learned to fight because I had no choice, bullies would try and take anything I had.

    Getting bullied make us tough and strong.
    I was never a weak guy, just quiet. It didnt take long for them to give Respekt. Any time I lost patience I threw Bullies down stairs or punched them into the face. Jesus they were surprised. The thing is I am a very humble guy, people often expect you to be weak.

    My little sister Lisa had to mummified for a few years, at various times. The itching, scabbing, and expressed discomfort was obviously tough for her to deal with as a child, but because of familial love, it was a family affair. There were the creams, therapeutic baths, and the cloth wrappings....we are only 2.5 years apart and still very close; coincidentally, today, 3-29, is her birthday.

    Interesting point about people wanting to believe lies.
    At some point in time I had to proof that I was sane, to a psychiator who thought and was told otherwise.
    When starting at that point there is absolutely nothing you could say or do that proves your sanity. Everything wil simply get explained as a "devious manipulating plot" or otherwise "doing good out of guilt".
    I like to share these moments here, in the comments. Because thats where I was whenever I was in a bad state. And that 0.1% chance my typing helps someone makes it worth doing it.
