True. Because Jimmy isn't good at having personal conversations of that matter, and Ford knows it. So he clearly stated - don't go there! And it's true, Jimmy didn't handle it professionally. He didn't know how to react, which is sad. Coz he could just show the respect, empathy and comfort. That's just basics ! He giggled in the end out of his nervousness, for sure. but you are host for a reason, no? ...
Everytime I see Harrison Ford on a talk show I worry if he's kind of going a little senile. Slow to pick up on what people say, slow to respond. I don't recall if he did the talk show circuit back in the old days. Not just on Jimmy - his appearances on british Graham Norton show is equally vague.
@@pandroidgaxie That's funny. I think the very opposite. I actually find that his slow and calm demeanor shows a great deal of 'organized intelligence' and a great inner wisdom. Besides, he's constantly making jokes on the spot with his signature dry delivery when he gets invited on these talk shows. I mean, that is quite clearly a huge sign that he's still very sharp and lucid, if anything.
I don't get the level of hate Fallon is getting, now ... you can tell Harrison is a lot looser in joking around when he's on Fallon compared to say, Ellen ...
He didn't say it like that at all what are you talking about? His smile wasn't even that weird he just seemed like he was trying to be a little more cheerfully sympathetic. That was one of the more genuine looking moments in the whole interview.
As much as it is sorrow for his death it also is the fact that, well all the people from his prime are dying it's like you start to realize everything is behind you and your old, everything is in the past and your own mortality is sprawled out before you. It's like seeing a high school picture with all your best friends you remember what a time it was in your life and also remember that most of your friends are dead and your a old man now.

I've lost a lot of respect for Jimmy Fallon just from looking at this video title. For the love of god just add Peter Mayhew's name to the end and 2 thing swill happen: 1. We'll stop thinking you're a bunch of insensitive showbiz pricks, and 2. You will improve the search engine optimisation and get more hits. People have been screaming at you since May 2019 about this and you've stubbornly left it with the completely undignified "Chewbacca actor". Unbelievable.
You got valid points there, but Jimmy Fallon is not responsible for this youtube channel. And Jimmy did say his name. The blame must go to the online team.
the funny thing is, the title was "fixed" around the time the video went live. but it got quickly reverted back to this insensitive title. its further proof fallon is not a fan, of anything real. fake interviewer, fake fan
While I do see your point and somewhat agree, I think they chose this title because Peter Mayhew isn't a household name and Chewbacca is what everyone knows him for.
Anthropophagus Well you still can’t just ignore the fact that his real name was Peter Mayhew. “Chewbacca” was only his Star Wars name. In my opinion it’s disrespectful to call someone by there “fake” name rather than there real one, although if they were role playing it would be a different story, but that’s not the case here.
I think people need to stop getting upset over such trivial things. If the title said Peter Mayhew half of you wouldn’t have bother clicking. And I bet another half of you didn’t know his real name. This video has 3.4 million views. I think there has been plenty of tribute. And I don’t think it’s the media clickbaiting using Chewbacca. It’s a household name. It’s Star Wars. It’s jimmy Fallon. I think they’re both doing just fine without having to worry about a stupid TH-cam title. Just like “actor who plays rd-d2” passes away. But if I said “Kenny baker passed away in 2016” most of you wouldn’t have a clue who I’m talking about, and therefore wouldn’t care.
I always think that everytime I see Harrison Ford on any Interview, my brother's just explained me he dislike being around so many people, that it's almost a phobia. Is sad because he's an actor and is the most common thing to happen.

This interview is so awkward. I usually defend Fallon but this was really bad. That last part "I'm supposed to make jokes" followed by Harrison saying "get on with it" really just tied the whole thing together.
Very awkward. I feel that this is where Jimmy Fallon is less experienced still in this role as Tinight Show host. Johnny Carson to me is still THE only true late night TV host king of all time. A true class act who did his research on his guests, let them do their thing, and didn't try to be cute at every opportunity (like Jimmy Fallon). Jay Leno? Forget about it. Don't even get me started on Leno as the successor to Johnny Carson.
This scene alone showed that Fallon doesnt care about how his guests feel. Harrison lost a dear friend and Jimmy used it as segway. I grew up watching Leno, Letterman and eventually Kilborn and Ferguson and I cant think of a time where in mid interview they brought up a friend passing to a guest.
You can tell by Harrison's reactions, that Peter Mayhew had a special place in his heart. Chewie is now with the Princess and I'm sure he'll be looking after her. r.i.p big walking carpet :)

He giggled in the end out of his nervousness, for sure. but you are host for a reason, no? ...

You got valid points there, but Jimmy Fallon is not responsible for this youtube channel. And Jimmy did say his name. The blame must go to the online team.

That they still haven't changed the title to feature Peter's real name tells us alot about Fallon's production team and how much they care...
I know man so much disrespect from that title
While I do see your point and somewhat agree, I think they chose this title because Peter Mayhew isn't a household name and Chewbacca is what everyone knows him for.
Anthropophagus
Well you still can’t just ignore the fact that his real name was Peter Mayhew. “Chewbacca” was only his Star Wars name. In my opinion it’s disrespectful to call someone by there “fake” name rather than there real one, although if they were role playing it would be a different story, but that’s not the case here.
They're left-wing New Yorkers. They only pretend to care about others when they think it makes them look good.

Very awkward. I feel that this is where Jimmy Fallon is less experienced still in this role as Tinight Show host. Johnny Carson to me is still THE only true late night TV host king of all time.

Philly Cheese Take no. Jimmy kimmel is. He’s way to intrusive in his interviews
Spade would be better.
James Corden the best
I met Peter Mayhew a few years back at a con in Scotland. He was one of the nicest people I’ve ever met, a genuine soul. I was devastated when I heard he’d passed. I can understand why Harrison is so shaken
Awww why did you go there :/ He instantly started getting upset :/
Better than just ignoring the fact.
Elijah Wood No he’s not. It would have been weird not to mention it.
Talon Diwisch not just weird but downright disrespectful
I lowkey am crying just listening to how much you can tell he cared for and misses Peter.
