@@f33r45 Mark Hamill literally says this when he starts talking about the taking on the role of the Joker. He says he feared he wouldn't get the Joker part because of his Luke Skywalker role. While the issue may not be 95% like the other guy says it is a legit issue. Christopher Reeve dealt with this due to his Superman role. Henry Cavill originally didn't want to do Superman sequels out of fear of being typecasted. The term typecasting became a term for a reason. Some actors overcome it some don't.
@purplerains Elijah Wood has also talked in interviews at length about having this same problem after playing Frodo. Also true for Daniel Radcliffe after Harry Potter. Neither one of them has ever been shy about admitting that many of the roles they went out for immediately after playing such iconic chatacters were chosen specifically because they were so completely different from the role that shot them into superstardom. Dan in Equus and Elijah in Sin City and Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind. The difference with Harrison Ford was that he had struggled for ten years before Star Wars. Mark Hamill had done a couple voice acting gigs and, like, one live action gig before playing Luke. So Harrison Ford had been in the business for a while longer then Mark Hamill, even though Star Wars was what made both of them household names.
Do tell me. How often do you read the comics these days? HOW OFTEN DOES ANYONE READ COMICS THESE DAYS? I have a library in my basement from ALL the dc and marvel comics ive accumulated over the years and they just sit in their gathering dust. because the media has ignited over the last few years.

@@mememachine6022 Except he didn't try. He made the same mistake he made when he was younger and jumped in before thinking about what he was doing. He jumped into fighting Vader before he was ready, he jumped into dealing with Ben before he was ready, resulting in him realizing what he was doing before he even attempted to strike him and that he had made the same mistake he once made in the past. He never "tried" to murder any children. Had he tried, he would have succeeded. That's the whole reason he felt the Jedi needed to end. He, like many Jedi before him, made the same mistakes. But what do I know, I've only seen the movie one time and went in without preconceived notions about how the trilogy should play out due to lackluster EU content that came out decades before it.
@FreeTime Player That was the point. He obviously does not want it, but his contract makes him have to "adjust". Thus we must liberate him from tze evil forces that is Disney.
Mark Hamill & Kevin Conroy are one of my biggest inspirations, they are the reason why i’m so into voice acting and into impersonations. I’ll never forget you Kevin, our hero, our friend, our Batman. Rest in Peace.
He's so invested, and clearly enthusiastic about the work. Refreshing, as many actors in interviews seem not to really want to even be there. But Hamill settles in and starts conversing like the interviewer is a friend, and he warms to the subject so readily. It makes him extremely likable.
Yeah, one thing I hate about Batman movies now is Batman has that deep voice, it’s rips off his character He’s not a big scary bat, he’s a human, a rich guy in a suit (just like Tony Stark), giving him a demon voice cheapens his humanity, that’s why I always prefer Kevin
@@bigb860 well, it's not that Clooney was bad as Batman. It's that the movie and the Batman itself were terrible to begin with! Clooney is a great actor, maybe he could pull off an older version of Batman/Bruce Wayne if he had a better movie arround him

Although I'm a big fan of Hamill, I don't think he was the right choice for Ozai. I always thought of him to be menacing, but Mark just makes him sound sinister.
I like how Mark didn’t take up being a voice actor out of frustration from Luke Skywalker typecasting but rather due to his affinity for those who do the work.
It’s really interesting how even then he just simply loved the art of voice acting and looked up to other voice actors and studied from looney tunes to Mickey Mouse, yogi beard rocky and bulleinkle

purplerains Well considering that Harrison Ford was still able to be in that many films, I don’t think that is true. Mark had a love a voice acting, so I think it was his dream job honestly.
Oh no, I believe you're wrong, The same with everyone who plays a remarkable role in a film, movie, series or sitcom, it's hard to give them another character that can fit to audience expectations for the person, it seems uncomfortable to see a trademark actor playing different roles.
@@lylecozartminer3091 i 100% dont agree with you. What you are stating is just not true. Eg. the Avengers/marvel actors they play in a lot of others movies and they still have the remarkable character under their belt. (you cant imagine ironman or cpt america played by an other actor)

He never "tried" to murder any children. Had he tried, he would have succeeded. That's the whole reason he felt the Jedi needed to end. He, like many Jedi before him, made the same mistakes.

Well said. And other interviews with actors of today, unfortunately they all seem either uninterested on just flat out disingenuous
Do hundreds of interviews that have all the same questions and see how fun it is
When you can charm the notoriously prickly Harlan Ellison by just talking to him, you know the guy's got it.
Mark's voice is usually what I hear in my "inner ear" when I read the Joker's dialogue in comics now, just as Kevin is the voice I hear for Batman.
Same for me with Clancy Brown and Lex Luthor.
Mine is a weird amalgam of Hamill and DiMaggio, can’t explain it.

Yeah, one thing I hate about Batman movies now is Batman has that deep voice, it’s rips off his character
