I saw Man on the Moon in a theatre in San Francisco with my dad when the film came out. Several times I was the only one in the theatre laughing. It was a bizarre experience. The biggest one of those lone-laughing times was during the scene where Kaufman (played by Carrey) comes onstage to do stand-up at a university and the students chant "Latka! Latka! Latka!" Understandably pissed, Kaufman sits down, pulls out a copy of The Great Gatsby, and reads the entire book.
