The movie pulled the same origin story for Splinter that the Micheal Bay movie did which I never liked. He just randomly found a book on martial arts and a bunch of weapons laying around in the sewer one day? I prefer when Splinter is already knowledgeable on martial arts and passes down that knowledge to the turtles. Also I didn't even notice the shape of Cynthia Utrom's glasses, I just assumed she's a Krang because her last name is literally Utrom which is what they called the Krang in the 2003 series, they're basically the same species.

Great review video. I'm happy you're back. Also, please talk about the Last Ronin game that's coming out next year. I'm very hyped that we are finally a new TMNT game
I remember when it happened. I leapt up and cried out, "whoa, cool!", laughed out loud and thought to myself, "how fun that they included an excerpt from the He Man version of 'What's Up'". Then I was like, "Wow, they're really playing a lot of this song. But for sure they will cut before Beast Man and Skeletor start singing." Then I applauded when I was proven wrong.
U have no idea how long ive been waiting for dis video to come out i absolutely loved the hell out of dis movie and i cant wait for tales of the tmnt, the upcoming game, and the sequel
I do love all the TMNT movies and am glad I loved this new iteration too ! New iterations mostly get old and a lot of new fans so I'm glad that TMNT is one of those franchises that is still growing and going.💚
Part of me is pissed the marketing of this movie promote the celebrity voices more than the Turtles’ voices, but I also respect giving these kids some anonymity to keep the creeps & trolls away.
My friend was saying Cassie Jones got killed in the movie by Superfly when he was became a mutant. Told him it was just a random human. He said it was Cassie kuz of the long hair. They just haven't introduced Cassie yet
Man, I saw this twice. I just loved the animation style, the soundtrack, the fights, and the characters. Seth Rogan's team did a phenomenal job, and I'm glad every generation of kids has their own TMNT iteration. And yeah, this movie got rizz. (I'm an older millennial and it took me awhile to get what 'rizz' meant)
Shell Yeah BABY!!! 🤩💚🐢 This movie is 100 out of 100!! I can't wait for the sequel and the tv series ☺️ Fun fact: Brady Noon (Raph) and Shamon Brown Jr (Mikey) told the interviewers that they love the 2012 series growing up and that made me so excited cause I love the 2012 series 😊 Hopefully one day every tmnt turtles voice actors will meet tmnt mutant mayhem turtles voice actors at the premiere for tmnt mutant mayhem 2 just like jodi benson and halle bailey meet at the little mermaid premiere 😊
Alright, Mutant Mayhem was such a fun movie. It captured everything I loved about Turtles and made it modernized. But man, No Diggity will forever go down as my favorite TMNT scene of all time. They felt like Cool Teens Doing Ninja Things. It made me feel like a kid watching the 2012 series all over again. And the comedy! Dude, I haven’t laughed so hard in a movie in so long. And Ice Cube as Superfly? Heck yeah! Dude was a freaking menace. As always, Leo still remains my favorite Turtle since 2012. I really love how ever since 2012 they’ve started embracing the teenage side of things. I’m not completely sold on how the turtles learned martial art from TH-cam, but I’ll take that over them reading a book any day. The part where they were accepted by humans and having Bebop and Rocksteady wasn’t my favorite thing, but I learned from RISE to accept change in the Turtles Mythos. Overall, I had an absolute fantastic time. It’s not my favorite TMNT movie, (That goes to Rise and Batman v TMNT), but I really enjoyed watching it. So with all that being said, BOOYAKASHA, and COWABUNGA! Edit: Oh, and Shredder!?
I'm not gonna lie. Every time the movie made a pop culture reference that I recognise but wasn't expecting, I let out a huge burst of laugher and I'm pretty sure I annoyed the heck out of some people. Every time they referenced Attack On Titan for example, I just lost it. 😁
Yes!!! Been waiting for this video since they announced the end of the strike! Wondering if any other movie reviews are in the works... Barbenheimer, anyone? 👀👀👀
The OG Turtles film is still my favourite but this and the Rise film make the top 3 best TMNT movies for me now. I really loved this, they did such a great job, glad you loved it too. P.S. Batman vs TMNT is also awesome if anyone hasnt seen it yet!
I first found your channel from your first live action film review back in 2014! Been watching you for 10 years and now it comes back full circle with Mutant Mayhem!!! 🐢
A new movie review from Andre the Black Nerd in months, nice to her your opinion on this movie. Now the hiatus is done, more movie and show reviews coming up on Secret Invasion, The Marvels, Saw X, Barbie and Oppenheimer, etc.
You seem to hint to the idea of Splinter lying about his past, like maybe they're planning on doing the original pet rat origin? I didn't even think of that cuz my mind thought "hey Stockman put his DNA in Superfly and that's why he was super smart what if the mutagen that hit the Turtles and Splinter had the DNA of Hamato Yoshi in it and that gave them the desire to be ninjas?"
A lot of people seem to assume there is more to Splinter's backstory (ie: that we're going to get the Hamato Yoshi vs Oroku Saki stuff) but this isn't even teased in the movie. This is exactly how fans of the 2014 Platinum Dunes movie were so certain that the sequel would also reveal a secret origin of Splinter and Out Of The Shadows just reinforced that that the writers really did intend to do something as dumb as him learning martial arts from a book. I know it's happened before (including with Jackie Chan) but are they really going to have a Chinese actor portray a character so steeped in Japanese lore in 2026? Maybe if they don't specifically mention Japan but I have major doubts.
I thought the movie was fine. There were a couple of things that took me out of it, like all of the mutants but superfly switching sides feeling super easy, but I will pick it up for my collection. I kind of wish there had been less mutants so that they could more of an individual connection to make that switch feel more justified though.
I haven't seen it, but I appreciate that the cast are actual kids. In the original films and animated series, I never felt like they were teenagers, are from what I have see of the later shows, I really didn't see it there either. Aside from Mikey being really... um... disgusting in the live action movie, I feel like they've always been portrayed as 20-somethings, so seeing them act like teenagers and being voiced by teenagers is pretty respectable.
I had a lot of fun watching this movie & I love when people are open to watching any iteration of turtles. It's funny, today I went to a holiday bazaar to do some Christmas shopping & I'm at a booth where a vendor is wearing an 87 TMNT shirt so one of his customers walked up to him to strike up a conversation about it & I stood there listening in & they turn to me to ask if they could help me & my response was to pull out my TMNT wallet to show them & they thought it was really cool. It's the 2012 turtles but given the style it's done in, you have to look close to tell seeing their set of ninja gear, Donnie's tooth gap, & Raph's chip on his plastron. I mentioned the fact it's the 2012 turtles & the customer who started the conversation was like, "wow, you know your turtles?" I then uh went into a conversation talking about the different iterations & showed off pictures a headband I made with pizza fabric used in the background that has one turtle from each of the animated series, 87 Raphael, 03 Leo, 2012 Mikey, & Rise Donnie on it. Yeah so um, they ended up super lost in the conversation & pointed out a booth to me across from the one I was at that makes knit plushies & they told me they have the turtles so I went over & was torn between buying Donnie & Mikey, went with Donnie since I have a little Donatello collection going on but I am tempted to go back & get Mikey. The person running that booth asked me what I thought of Mutant Mayhem so I at least was able to talk about one that's not just 87 like I enjoy the 87 cartoon but it's overdone & there's so much variety in this franchise that's a ton of fun to talk about. Actually for Halloween I wrote a short fic that's a crossover between 03 & Rise where it's after Turtles Forever, the 03 turtles are around 18 years old with the Rise turtles being 4-6 years old. There's random rifts opening up (cause of the multiverse being nearly destroyed in Turtles Forever) that leads to various dimensions throughout any point in time so alternate futures that never existed play into this. This one happened to open on Halloween night for both Rise & 03 to stick to the theme. 03 Mikey as the Turtle Titan ends up having a fun night taking mini him trick-or-treating in the Rise dimension without even realizing that's his counterpart. Meanwhile, Rise Donnie made his way into the 03 universe (you can tell who my favorite turtles tend to be lol) & believes it's another planet of which his kind hails from because this is before they know their origin story since they're children. 03 Don wearing an alien costume while investigating the rifts in order to blend in with it being Halloween furthered this belief. It ended up with the Dons working to figure out a solution to the problem, well primarily 03 Don, Rise Donnie was being a pain in the shell. 87 Donatello does come in because he needs to enlist help to stop this situation of the random rifts opening up since it's happening in his world too so they end up taking Rise Donnie home & picking up 03 Mikey to go off & fix this problem. Went through explaining all of that because I plan to do like a major dive into turtles for the follow up fics because like I'm thinking of including the summer shorts, PSAs, Out of Their Shells tour, & so much more like I'm willing to subject myself to some of the worst stuff imaginable, I'll even listen to Deck the Halls done in a Jamaican accent in order to experience everything I can for writing this. Pretty much, turtles end up misplaced in various other dimensions & the 87 & 03 turtles end up on cleanup duty, nabbing turtles & taking them to where they belong. I'm considering sticking in Ronin (won't say which turtle he is just in case ppl don't wanna be spoiled) into the Christmas special, I know I'm evil. Not sure who will end up in the alternate future from Same As it Never Was but point is poor 03 Don traveling there again to grab whoever wound up there. I did mention that I'm evil, right? Gonna be having fun torturing myself with so much turtles media for all this but it'll be worth it, it will give me a reason to actually look at the bad parts of the franchise & then turn around & poke fun at it but in a loving way.

I feel like people forget how much swearing was in the original Shrek movie, and this had the same rating.
@@Hey-Its-DingoYeah it annoys me because people think Animation is only for kids but I always say "It's for anyone parents and kids." Also it's not like kids haven't heard some of those words before
THE KING HAS RETURNED! (Even though he never left!)
Who ever put ice cube in this movie is a mad man!! 😂😂😂
Great review video. I'm happy you're back. Also, please talk about the Last Ronin game that's coming out next year. I'm very hyped that we are finally a new TMNT game
I like how the turtles are actual teens
I like how Splinter in his younger days looked like Cameo
I remember when it happened. I leapt up and cried out, "whoa, cool!", laughed out loud and thought to myself, "how fun that they included an excerpt from the He Man version of 'What's Up'". Then I was like, "Wow, they're really playing a lot of this song. But for sure they will cut before Beast Man and Skeletor start singing." Then I applauded when I was proven wrong.
I loved the Turtles and April. It was so much fun. My hubs didn’t like Superfly and wanted to see Shredder.
Andre always brings the joy and possibly pizza but definitely joy.
Awww thanks!
I could unironicly see you voicing bebop in a future tmnt project
When we get that hell in a cell match with the Nannie and you at Summer slam
This movie is 100 out of 100!!
I can't wait for the sequel and the tv series ☺️
Fun fact: Brady Noon (Raph) and Shamon Brown Jr (Mikey) told the interviewers that they love the 2012 series growing up and that made me so excited cause I love the 2012 series 😊
Hopefully one day every tmnt turtles voice actors will meet tmnt mutant mayhem turtles voice actors at the premiere for tmnt mutant mayhem 2 just like jodi benson and halle bailey meet at the little mermaid premiere 😊
Andre's review of Mutant Mayhem was more anticipated than the actual movie. It was very good.
Andre!!! I missed your turtles content so much, I needed your booyakasha energy 🎉
9:45 agreed he definitely owes u a check XD
Mutant Mayhem was so awesome! Probably second best of the movies behind the 1990 one.
I'm not gonna lie. Every time the movie made a pop culture reference that I recognise but wasn't expecting, I let out a huge burst of laugher and I'm pretty sure I annoyed the heck out of some people. Every time they referenced Attack On Titan for example, I just lost it. 😁
Imagine if we got something like this for Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers.
That would make me so happy as a PR super fan
You know when shredder meets the turtles, them boys gonna get their shells whooped
Wow, but I actually saw the movie in theatres on it's initial release date on August 2, 2023.
I went to an early Tuesday showing
One of my favorite movies of the year.
Turtles are back baby !!!!!!! 🐢.
Great review Andre and take care and stay safe 👍.
i’ve been waiting for this review since before the movie even came out ❤️good shit
I’m happy to see you talk about this movie. I loved it too.
YESSSSSSSS MUTANT MAYHEM REVIEW FROM ANDRE!!!!! I LOVED THIS MOVIE SO SO MUCH!!!! TMNT is really special to me, so it's super awesome I ended up liking this movie, and this is actually one of my fav TMNT incarnations too!!! I love the artstyle so much I love all the unique things they did with it and the animation and such!!! :]
Perhaps the He-Man/What's Up bit was meant to foreshadow Turtles of Grayskull.
y'all already know we here sending those daily positive vibes from Houston everyone!
Thanks Houston!
When his people needed him the most, he returned. 😊
I'm so happy you're finally talking about this movie! It was so good! I loved it and i still do 💙💜❤️🧡
I’m so happy! You were the first person I was hoping to hear from about this film… totally get why you couldn’t, but i’m so happy to hear your thoughts!
With the films animation style I can confidently say that a Crash Bandicoot film is now possible
My best friend and I went and saw this movie the day it opened. During the climax I turned to him and said, "You mess with the turtles you mess New York." He replied, "You mess with one of us you mess all of us."
I feel the same...there is something they are hiding about splinter.
Honestly still to this day I want a tmnt 2012 movie directed by Ciro and Brandon Auman. Those guys knows how to makr serious turtle show.Maybe even make it pg 17-18.
I wish I could hug you 🤗
I miss Andre's old intro theme.
