His VA is the youngest of the teens voicing the turtles. He's also the only one that is the same age the turtles are in this movie. Heck, the only other teen to play a turtle also played Donatello.
The milking jokes got exponentially funnier every time. I was like, "that's a funny little joke to sneak I'm there for the teens/adults" and then when they brought out the milking machine I was crying from how hard I was laughing. Also, the "That's your SKIN. THAT'S YOUR SKIN."
I think the reason how so many characters look jank is all based on perception. With Splinter basically demonizing the people on the surface, it checks out that they just look bad. April isnt as horrific because of the initial and following reception in their eyes, but this version is still janky. I think thats actually a nice touch.
The actual reason is because the whole movie is supposed to look like a teenagers notebook, you know the kind of stuff you’d scribble on the sides of your science notes. That’s why the characters look lopsided, weird, and asymmetrical.
So if you fight the Hand your superpower is hearing, if you fight the Foot your superpower is your disgusting brain tumor resonating with the world around you making you barely comprehend reality. Man this movie really is for the tiktok generation.
One of the best TMNT adaptations. The animation, the characters, the fight choreography, and the fact that they were voiced by actual teenagers are all awesome, and I love how they really focused on the turtles and Splinter as a family over them as ninjas.
I find the ugly faces is an unique art style because it makes the Turtles look normal in comparison. Edit: the uncanny faces reminds me of someone but I can’t think of who. @@ToomuchAnime3 Exacly in fact, in some of the making-of videos for Mutant Mayhem, they explicitly state that the aesthetic they were looking for for the film was to give the impression of Sketchbooks made by teenagers, and to give the impression that it was teenagers who were working on the aesthetic and visual aspects of the film.
5:49 Another counterargument for the April being "ugly" debate is that she's a teenager and played very down-to-earth. Not every single teenager in the media needs to be traditionally attractive; they're literally kids!! I dare you to find any high school girl who looks half as attractive as the April O'Neils in past iterations. It's also not good for every teen, fictional or not, to be held to the same beauty stndards because that doesn't help anyone's case, especially the girls.
It’s one of the most fun films I’ve seen this year. I’d be down to see how the Mutant Mayhem turtles would interact with the other incarnations of the turtles.
While I love the style from Spider-Verse, I think personally I love the messier, grittier, and almost middle/high school artist sketchbook look of all the lines, scribbles, shapes and everything! The animation here really reminds me that even “messy looking” animation can be done tastefully and creatively! I’m still learning every tool in Blender, and so far I’ve figured out how to animate at 5 fps for a similar limited animation look, how to use the Grease Pencil tool to create all the cartoon, 2D, frame by frame effects, and how to use the basic solid 3D shapes to create simple character designs! This movie inspired me to keep learning all the tools in Blender (and other software) to keep refining my own 2.5 D style!
According to Seth rogen who wrote and produced the film the young voice actors for the turtles recorded all their lines together because they had such good chemistry and played so well off each other Rogen wanted them recording together which is why all the scenes with them just being kids and brothers works so well and feels so genuine.
Honestly what I love most about the film is that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtes are voiced by actual TEENAGERS or at least close to the Teenager age. Is it something that was a must no they could've easily had it be set years and years after they 1st explore above the sewers but it's nice that it's a thing and it's such a neat touch I adore. And gives the voice actors to grow up with the TMNT while they're voicing the characters
Also Seth Rogen who co-wrote and produced the movie, said that the VA’s for the turtles had such good chemistry that he had them record all their lines together as a unit, and i think that is one reason all the scenes of them just being kids or brothers works as well as it does.
The music and dialogue are definitely highlights here. Superfly's scenes of meeting and hanging the Turtles are adorable. You start to feel for the Turtles because they FINALLY get to vibe with other people only for the rug to get pulled out from under them.
8:35 i love how Eden always freaks out when someone animates a rotating camera scene (just like in the danny phantom video) also i watched this movie in theaters but watching this scene again, the art style is giving me real big chalkzone vibes and it even reminds me of captain underpants which is honestly perfect for this movie
This might be my favourite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie to date, I just loved everything about this movie, the visuals the soundtrack, and the stellar and unique animation, and I especially love these new takes on the characters and how the turtles truly act and felt like young teenage up and coming heroes that just want to live their lives the way they want to its truly beautiful how for once in TMNT media that are actually accepted by humanity very early on their careers. Can't wait for the sequel with Shredder
I've seen this movie twice in theaters such a good time and don't regret it one bit. The only thing that's more fun than the movie and animation is the soundtrack so many bangers. My favorite being Ante up.
I watched this film 3 times in theaters, and 4 times on streaming and DVD. Every single time, I laugh, cheer, and vibe with the music, one-liners, and humor. MM is my favorite movie besides the Netflix Rise of the TMNT film in every way.
“Every other character looks like they got hit by a bus, but April doesn’t.” 😂😂🤣🤣 I don’t know why but I was laughing my ass off when I heard that. I loved this movie when I saw when my family on streaming, and I hope there’s more to come for this universe of TMNT.
She isn't, she's just fat. Like that's it. Everyone keeps trying to draw equations to explain why they don't like April's design and it is literally just cause she's fat.
this movie slaps in almost every way possible. I love how spider-verse popularized this new trend for modern western animation to just try the most creative and distinct shit possible, and it really shines in this movie. It's similar to spider-verse, but with it's own, rougher and grungier style that really works for the tmnt. I adore how butt-ugly the character designs are, it's just so charming. Splinter was likely written that way to be a parallel to Superfly, a fellow mutant who also hated humans and who controlled the mutants under his care (his "brothers and sisters") out of a similar protective instinct that Splinter has with his sons. Except while Superfly controls his family through fear and doesn't see the good in people, Splinter was able to see hunanity's goodness through April and was motivated to act out of love, until he saw that he needed to give his boys and humans a chance to coexist.

I really didn’t like that. Splinter as a mutated ninjutsu master or pet of a ninjutsu master who he learned martial arts from is objectively cooler in my opinion.
i actually really enjoyed the human designs in this movie because it totally goes against most movies want for symmetry and perfection. It directly pushes past the boundary of what people normally expect with humans and i think that’s what makes mutant mayhem so fucking epic in it’s own way. All if the asymmetry makes me love the movie more tbh

that was a thing that started with the nickelodeon incarnations of the turtles, before that there wasn't really that much shipping with really the only major one being april and casey
I honestly find the comment about how, if Spiderverse didnt exist, this movie would be blowing people's minds, really interesting. Because they're absolutely right, this movie is kind of stuck in the legacy of Spiderverse. It cant help being compared to it, and it almost lessens the impact this movie can make on its own. But at the same time, without Spiderverse, it wouldnt exist in this form. Yeah, it has its own style and a lot of great unique touches, but it does owe a lot to that big shakeup in 3d animation. I wonder what kind of tmnt movie we wouldve gotten without Spiderverse.
I'm a huge superhero/action and kids movie lover, I've watched all the MCU and a bunch of other great classics so much that I'm almost desensitized to the non-stop pacing of them and the familiar plot points, TMNT:MM was so refreshing for once. Ive always wanted a hero movie where we get to see the squads both hang out as friends/family and kick ass too. The trip to the bowling alley was unexpected yet still wholesome, i was expecting a fight in disguise from the turtles before they revealed theyre all mutants but the movie didnt dance around that and just got straight to the point. I'll admit I did expect the twist of Superfly becoming even more mutated but i thought he'd just be extremely giant and jacked with tons of eyes with the occasional sea creature feature, NOT TO BECOME A WHALE AND HAVE THOSE HORRIFYING LIMBS MADE OUT OF THE SEA CREATURES!!! I was genuinely shocked and very horrified by the design, it was so gruesome I couldn't look at it but couldnt look away at the same time. It felt like I was 12 again watching Monster house or something, seeing the villain turn into something worse for the first time ever. It was a cool feeling to have once again.
I really didn't like the direction they were going with the romance between Leo and April, but it was honestly handled very well. And by the end of the movie when the credits started rolling I was like "WHAT!? I thought Leo was gonna ask her to prom!" and then the after credits scene came and I was satisfied Also 15:25 XD
Getting the voice actors for the Turtles to record together might have been the smartest move made while making this. The chemistry is perfect. Just a bunch of kids screwing around.
i love Donnies voice, fits super well with him, Mikey’s voice is iffy but i got used to it. Ralph’s voice fits perfectly for him. AND OF COURSE LEO AKA FUCKING GUMBALL WATERSON. perfect voice actor.
Liked the turtles are actually voice by teenagers instead of an adult doing a teenager voice and I especially loved that the animation was inspired by sketchbook drawing that a teen or child would draw in school or home. Totally looking forward to the 2d animated series on paramount plus, the video game for next year and it's sequel with the shredder.
From what i seen at least, all the turtles have had a crush on april in different versions except raph. In the live action movies and i think a cartoon it was mikey, in the 2012 show it was donnie, and in this it was leo. Yet Donnie seems to be the only one who actually succeeded. And hes clownin on leo ab rizz in this movie lol
10:26 Fun Fact: Jojo is the favorit anime of Micah Abbey the voice actor of Donatello so that mean this is a Jojo fan who play a turtles with glasses who is a Jojo fan and anime lover *FUCKING AWSOME!!!!*
So happy that most people agree this movie’s great. The chemistry between the turtles is so genuine and funny; it’s my favorite thing about this iteration of TMNT besides the gorgeous grungy art style.
I love how Spiderverse has influenced so many animated movies and shows to just be wild with their visuals. Let's hope it continues with projects like Kung Fu Panda 4.
8:19 „The reason I’m not scared of you is because you helped me out“ „Yeah I’d be pretty freaked out and disgusted“ April. These little shits are adorable. Have you seen the humans around you.
I Loved this movie!!!!!! Some parts were annoying cuz large family had kids on their phones and didn’t check their kids. Try and see this movie without annoying kids in the theater! It was so good

It's even funnier when you remember Rise actually had the capybara voiced by Flapjack mention the puppies has nipples

Spiderverse feels like the art kids project. Turtles feels like the skribbles in those old textbooks that the school never replaces.
Tbh, thats how the movie was actually trying to go for
Like one of those notebook scribbles

Well there are actually many depictions of Splinter being a rat who just happens to learn Ninjitsu, but the hating humans part is a new element
I miss the lore of him originally being the pet of Hamato (a Japanese martial arts master)
thinking...
1) I suspect at latest it happened after they hired a Chinese guy for the part and figured it'd be a good idea to generalize a lot of the martial arts stuff instead of tie him directly to Hamato (hence 'learning' ninjitsu instead of more complicated lore).

To be honest, the one problem that I have with TMNT is all of the unnecessary shipping. They’re literally turtles.
that was a thing that started with the nickelodeon incarnations of the turtles, before that there wasn't really that much shipping with really the only major one being april and casey
Hmm, I’d say they’re more people than turtle though. They’re fully sentient, walk on two legs, and can speak english.
Minnie Mouse? What is this, Noah's Ark? I don't want bestiality in MY game!

13:51 cant believe you skipped over Caseys only appearance
DAWG I LITERALLY JUST SAID “it would be cool if they actually watched the new tmnt movie”
I honestly like how they got actual teenagers to voice the turtles.. Really would love for you guys to watch the 2003 TMNT series..
Honestly this movie has some of the most vibable dialogue I’ve seen in a movie in awhile
The single difference between Leo's first crush and Leo's first kill is that April was wearing a helmet.
4:53 I can’t believe they didn’t mention mr beast
I was waiting for this video to come out and I am so glad you guys made it
One of my favorite movies of all time
Idk how they would react to the live action TMNT movie. But I kinda want to see it now.
The fact people say April is ugly, Meanwhile the other humans look more mutant than the actual mutants XD....hey wait a minute
I really didn't like the direction they were going with the romance between Leo and April, but it was honestly handled very well. And by the end of the movie when the credits started rolling I was like "WHAT!? I thought Leo was gonna ask her to prom!" and then the after credits scene came and I was satisfied
Also 15:25 XD
Getting the voice actors for the Turtles to record together might have been the smartest move made while making this. The chemistry is perfect. Just a bunch of kids screwing around.
7:28 BRUH 😂
So fun fact: Leo is voiced by one of the actors who voiced Gumball
im so happy u guys r watching tmnt stuff bc its my hyperfixation rn and i go INSANE everytime i see tmnt in my notifications
i love Donnies voice, fits super well with him, Mikey’s voice is iffy but i got used to it. Ralph’s voice fits perfectly for him. AND OF COURSE LEO AKA FUCKING GUMBALL WATERSON. perfect voice actor.
4:43 this is not the video I expected a Harry Potter PC game reference to turn up in, but I’m happy about it.
The way that they all said sponge Bob a 4:48 lol
9:36 that's how people see HBOmax version velma.
This does justice to TEENAGE in TMNT
13:16 this legit happened with an uber i had over the summer & i was just silently waiting for him to stop spouting takes 😵💫
10:26 Fun Fact: Jojo is the favorit anime of Micah Abbey the voice actor of Donatello so that mean this is a Jojo fan who play a turtles with glasses who is a Jojo fan and anime lover *FUCKING AWSOME!!!!*
This is easily one of my top 3 favourite films of this year genuinely was really funny
6:35 bruh oml that caught me lackin TurtleSize
19:27 i dont want to see them without masks ever again
Donnie looks fat in his hoodie
I feel like at some point, all these jokes on how they won’t watch amphibia is gonna come back to bite them
Though I know nothing about TMNT, when I saw a trailer for this movie I felt like I needed to see it. And was that part of me so correct.
And shrek 5
Or Puss in Boots 3 whichever comes next
@@thatguyap_ yeah that post credits scene in last wish gave me high hopes

April. These little shits are adorable. Have you seen the humans around you.
8:50 hearing nicolas cantu say rizz outside of a show is crazy
I Loved this movie!!!!!! Some parts were annoying cuz large family had kids on their phones and didn’t check their kids. Try and see this movie without annoying kids in the theater! It was so good
11:57 It's funny because Leo's voice actor is the original voice of Gumball
9:02 Deku reference!
Fun fact the person that voices leo in mutant mayhem voices gumball
Paramount should let TIM MILLER direct the next live-action reboot
He understands CGI like none other
He not only gave us DEADPOOL, but also LOVE, DEATH AND ROBOTS
#TimMiller4TMNT
I want a movie about those 3 robots and how they end up going on a cosmic adventure, raising a human baby, and the cats are the main villains.
