I had a little challenge in wiggling the door panel, sliding it in place, aligning the plastic rivets with the holes. With a little patience ,everything worked out. Great video which gave me the confidence to tackle this project. Now the rear speakers are next.
Thanks for the video! Just did a part check on amazon and it said those speakers don't fit? Obviously, they do but curious as to why it would say they don't fit. Love the help
Hi, I used your guide to purchase the 6x9 metra adapters for the front door install on my 06 4runner. While screwing the speakers to the adapters i noticed that the screws arent anchored into the guide grooves in the inside wall of the adapters and once tight are only gripping on the sides of the surface mount holes not making much of a secure connection. I also noticed the same thing happening in your video when you turn the speaker over. Is there a better way to secure the speakers to the adapters that provides a more secure/long lasting connection? Thanks
Hey my passenger side speaker blew yesterday. Is it possible to just change the one side without screwing up the system? I’m just looking for oem sound but the price of one speaker at toyota is ridiculous.
This doesn’t work with the JBL system found in the Limited edition 4Runners. There is a small amplifier in the factory speaker spacer and an aftermarket 6x9 doesn’t fit in the stock spacer either. Also the terminals are different.
It does, yes. Most aftermarket speakers are 4 ohms, and depending if you are running the factory radio, amp, or aftermarket, the ohm load does matter. If base radio or aftermarket radio, 4 ohm is what you need. If you have JBL from factory, you will need 2 ohm.
@@ProvoBeastAudio Do you know how many ohms the front door speaker factory is? I still have the original stereo and plan on leaving it. I saw another video where they were able to put in a stereo with bluetooth from a different toyota vehicle. Would that work with the 2005 4runner JBL Synthesis System? Thanks for your help!
Nope, speakers lined up with the holes on the bracket fine, however every brand of speaker differs slightly, so you may have to do some slight modification.
Do you recommend certain tweeters? I have an 03 4Runner and plan on doing front, back tweeters and possibly the I dash from all your videos this weekend lol you're awesome!
@@ProvoBeastAudio Thank you sir. I just purchased some Alpine SPS-610C component speakers, and the 6x9 to 6.5 speaker adapter brackets. My next question is, how do I wire the new speakers up? I've read that the factory plug to the tweeter has both input, and output to the midbass driver in the door...
I want to replace the stock speakers on my 2006 4Runner JBL system. I believe they are all low impedance - 2 ohm - speakers. I'm sticking with the factory HU for now. Is this even practical? Does anyone make 2 ohm speakers for my truck?

It was a customer vehicle, so no, not a fan of them, would have chosen a nicer setup as these were very low end. If you replace speakers, remember, you get what you pay for.
aw man I wish I read this before I ordered those exact same 3 way pioneers.. lol i always thought pioneer makes the best or at least one of the best speakers
Do you really think the mic on a camera is truly going to pick up the audio quality you are looking for? If you play the snarky game, i can play that game too...

Just finished installing new front speakers. This video was very helpful.
Thank you, just what I needed. Speaker is blown up front and I look forward to taking on this job myself.
Super easy, the only issue I had was unplugging the big plug on the drivers side

Good concise tutorial, thanks.

the other video you did with the nvx 6.5 speakers.... which one do you think sounded better. thanks
NVX by far.
What was the wattage on the ones it comes stock with?
My original JBL's were 20w, 2.9 ohm.
Does it matter if the speaker is 2ohm, 4ohms or mixed?

How about the new speaker hight? Does the door panel sit on top without any issues?
Yep, no clearance issues. As long as it doesn't sit higher than the factory speaker.
i would like to replace mine with a component speaker (crossover and tweeter) do you have a tutorial on this? thanks . great vid!
Not yet, but very shortly. I have one to do this summer on this same model 4runner.

You can pick up a great component set, Alpines are usually a great choice. For tweeters, you can pick up Type S tweeters from Alpine, sound great!
To go all pioneer, will the ts-t110 7/8" hard-dome tweeters work with that bracket?
Sure will, these brackets are modify-able, so you can adapt them to generally any tweeter you like.

I thought the stock size speakers were 6.5 in the 4runner. Do some come with with 6x9 and some 6.5?
2003+ have 6x9 in the front doors.

Is there a 6x9 speaker that you would recommend? If I could get some that I could could run without an amp that would be ideal!
Remember that you will also need the speaker bracket listed in the description.

You could find some, but most aftermarket speakers run at a 4 ohm impedance. It will sound better, but may not be optimal for the factory JBL amp.

Nope.

What's a good replacement mid/tweeter that will fit in place of the stock?
Alpine Type S component set works like $. Tweeters sound great and you can use a piece of ABS plastic to make a mount to mount the tweeter.
Sounds good. Does it use the same harness as the other speakers?
Same harness in the video, yes.
