    I was considering a IWC Mark XX (which blew my budget anyways) and now I am a happy owner of a Stuttgart Pro :). It's really fun to be in their HQ Shop as well (I live 20min from them) and look at all the variants - can definitely recommend!

    Must've watched this video nearly a dozen times before going with the 37mm on the bracelet, elabore grade, AR on the underside only with no display back. It's really a high quality piece, the appreciation comes slow because it's so understated but I prefer that over the eye catchy bling. This video and the comments were quite helpful in helping me narrow down the options. Cheers.

      @@kenghao8356 no its pretty dead on, mine ran initially +1 a day now it's more like -1/0 but that gets corrected if I keep the watch overnight in 12-6 position, ends up being +2 so it nets out during the day. At 1550 usd, the Sinn isn’t the value prop it used to be. There are elements I like about the Sinn much more but at the end of the day, i think the laco has the slight edge due to the customization. You can get one with bracelet for 400 less than the Sinn and basically the same movement. If Sinn updated that clasp and maybe added a higher grade movement or at least the hardening coat to the steel and I’d side with it. Anyways, just my opinions. The Sinn defo is a great piece

    I have a LACO Original in 42 mm.
    My wish is that the Fliegers take the step the divers took already long ago: going for a three dimensional dial, ie using applied indices (luminous material only as on the Tudor FXD) or going for a Panerai style sandwich dial (probably much easier to realize, especially for the Baumuster B type). It would make the watches look so much more precious, upmarket without watering down the iconic look!

      The clutch is in the crown head so you can't over wind it. Not in the movement. When the manual wind is full you cannot wind it. It locks so if there was no clutch in the crown head it would be impossible to screw down that crown without breaking the movement. Hope that clarifies it

    I think this watch is awesome. The only thing I don’t like is the ref number on the non-crown side but it’s not such a big deal I wouldn’t buy it. I’d go 40mm with the manual wind, inner ar only, and top decorated movement with exhibition caseback and bracelet. My build isn’t cheap but man it’s such a nice package.
    PS. Do you think it’s really worth getting the ar on both sides? The inner ar did a good enough job at least on the video

    Nice. Great value. A good size too. Not all historic pilot's watches were wrist clocks! Longines (true pilot heritage), Hamilton and the IWC Mark (the original, before it was butchered) were in this 36-38mm range. Only Luftwaffe fliegers were especially big due to Nazi design criteria. And shall we all agree that Nazi militaria is a tad distasteful? Once pilots migrated to jets, the traditional size dropped again, because the planes were far smoother. As flight suits became more complex, watches got worn underneath anyway.

    I think the iwc type 20 has it beat, on the fly adjustment, no one has etched a silly number on the side off the case. If the laco can fix those issues I’ll give it another look.

    Everything is great, except for the green color of the lume, - a dealbraker for me, I would like white or light yellow (old radium?) and the logo - I know you can remove the logo and the "Made in Germany", but a better logo would be even better.

    • @EscapementWatch
      @EscapementWatch  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It looks less green in real life. The video shows it well. Only time you really see the green is in some lighting conditions. Could be the double AR coating that makes it look more white in real life. I was wondering about that.

    why do people who are after the classic look still opt for a model with a brand logo? It's not as if Laco or Stowa are brands that highlight the unlimited pockets of the wearer?

    • @EscapementWatch
      @EscapementWatch  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Because overall you still get that classic look but this is an all new case it's not a one-to-one copy of the original the lugs are completely different and the crystal. So having the logo is perfect for a modern reinterpretation rebirth if you will of the flieger. And if you have a modern Flieger you might as well proudly display one of the original brands that made them.

    Any Flieger watches less than 40mm are just dress watches.

    • @EscapementWatch
      @EscapementWatch  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The finish is better on the Laco. Plus much better water resistance (200m on the Laco vs 50m on the Stowa) Movements are the same imo and brands are equal imo.

    • @vegardvang519
      @vegardvang519 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@EscapementWatch well who needs 200m on a pilot watch. You won’t take it swimming. Also who wants to have a screw down crown specially on a manual handwinding movement. Dimensions are better on the Stowa (subjective) but it’s slimmer. Onion crown is a lot nicer. Well I checked the movements not much different. I got a eta and the laco got sellita. I guess both brands have same history but laco have been making a lot of low end watches whiles Stowa feels a lot more focused on watches in the 1500 usd range.

    • @EscapementWatch
      @EscapementWatch  ปีที่แล้ว +9

      It is the peace of mind knowing your watch can do anything. It is one of the big draws to Rolex sports watches like the legendary 36mm Explorer(which has a screw down crown, 100m of water resist and a bracelet, simple 3 hander) Just like this laco pro. I don't think the Stowa has a bracelet option last I checked. That is another plus for the laco as it can be a GADA, go any where do anything sports watch. Swim, climb, office work etc. The laco is thicker by 0.7mm but overall it still presents as a very thin professional timepiece with more presence then the stowa on the wrist. And just because Laco offers a more affordable options doesn't mean they can't make nice watches in other price brackets.

    Pffft... I mean, the watch is good, even great for 1940es. But for modern standards, it's just an useless toy, or a shiny decorative bracelet at best.
    The perfect flieger would be 40 mm in diameter, with titanium case, solar quartz movement and atomic watch signal reception.
