Congrats on the 50k subs; I enjoy your content and analysis. I whole heartedly agree with your assessment of the Yachtmaster in Everose of the Oysterflex. About a year and a half ago during a televised yacht race, I saw that Yachtmaster in the Rolex commercial, and thought, "I'd love to get one of those", since i had a planned trip to Switzerland the next year. Well my watch collection at that time was close to 20 years old, and I hadn't been following the pandemic and post pandemic Rolex hype, (thank God), but needless to say, that Yachtmaster remains a, "I'd love to have one of those" acquisitions. Congrats on yours.
Anordain and Furlan Marri had both watches on display at Wind Up Watch Fair, so maybe try to get to an independent show to see them? Both are very nice in the metal 👌
Congratulations, and thanks for answering my question! Love hearing your thoughts, even when I disagree here and there. Love that Yachtie, by the way! I do also love the silver and blue Platinum bezel ones, and suspect they aren't as popular because of the considerable price hike over the Sub with less functionality.
One watch for the rest of my life: that’s a tough one One watch channel for the rest of my life: This Watch, That Watch No clickbait, no nonsense, just thoughtful, knowledgeable and passionate discourse on watches past, present and future. Well-deserved on 50k subs, the sky’s the limit! I recognised the GS GMT as the SBGM221, if you’re looking for a 5Hz hi-beat movement I can recommend the SBGJ201 Mount Iwate that I’ve owned for a year. The 44GS case really brings out the best of the zaratsu polishing.
I appreciate your videos and the very balanced ideas you present. I haven't found any reviews on Panerai watches from you. Would it be possible for you to provide some? Thank you.
3:45 I fell in love with that GS GMT as well, but it JUST shy away from being "it" for me. The usual GS downsides of massively thick case, odd case shape design that doesn't allow for a great comfort fit, and more so personally, that it isn't a Spring Drive GMT. If all those were improved, it'd be an amazing watch, but of course I know it won't happen knowing GS.
Watch winders: I’m a watch technician (self taught, but still, I’ve been servicing watches for years) It’s not needed, it won’t damage your watch, but I think that if it’s something you would like to have to ensure X amount of watches in your collection are ready to wear. Get one. But they really aren’t needed in most cases and really aren’t going to make a huge difference. I haven’t tried most out, but a winder that just kicks on for a specified period of time per day would be optimal.
Yours is a good take on a polarizing subject. I am tired of those who slap back with the "You wouldn't leave your car running when you're not using it, would you?" response, demonstrating their lack of understanding of both the mechanical watch and the internal combustion engine. That argument is tired and weak. I agree with you; if the owner wants to use a winder, go for it. Just buy a good one. And Mike, congratulations on the 50K milestone.

Blimey mate, there you are sporting that Oysterflex! I just tried one on at the AD today albeit an "exhibition" model and fell in love with it. Now here you are tempting me again and am struggling to part with hard-earned cash just to see this beauty in my valet in the morning. ;-) This after a month with my new Yachtmaster. What's a man to do?
As for servicing, I purchased a timegrapher and baselined all of my automatic watches. Will test them every 6 months, should be fairly easy to see when one starts dropping off
At a watch auction I was looking at various vintage Rolexes from the nineties and the naughties. I was shocked how basic they felt. Tolerances and quality has definitely improved. I assume materials too, as some of the cases of the nineties watches appear to be made of something that isn't quality steel.
The materials have improved significantly. An ex-colleague of mine's Sub from the early 00's doesn't look anywhere near as good as the one my boss currently wears from 2021 or so. They still looked 'toolish' then, for lack of a better term.
Owned a Rolex Submariner 14060m since 2003. It's still running plus 1 second a day. Only one service in over 20 years Rolex makes robust movements that are built to last. The 3130 movement is indestructible and the bezel is like butter when rotating. Anyone who says Rolex doesn't make a great watch are clueless or are just hating
I wear a I-watch thru the work week and a Swatch Irony from 12 years ago on weekends or vacation. Wish I had bought a Rolex in mid 90s when they were around 5K. Bought a Bmw instead. Love automatic watches and your show.

I was thinking a good future topic would be who in your opinion are the best of best watchmakers today and show examples of their work? Obviously, someome like FP Journe would be on my list. Someone who is independent thinks outside the box and is a true artist/innovator. Are there individuals at a Rolex, IWC, who drive new designs that we do not know about? Are there some who design watches that are more affordable for enthusiasts like a Hajime Asaoke starting a Kurona Tokyo since most of these masters are very high end. Thanks
I have the watch I wanted and no longer feel the need to continue a watch journey. I think TH-cam feeds a false desire and as such now that my itch is scratched I am weaning myself off of it.
A yellow solar Casioak? This is street cred, Mike! 😂 Someday you could show off your Casio collection and share your point of view on this other side of the watch world.
The subtle curves of the Yachtmaster case are so much better looking than the chunky, hexagonal slab that is the Submariner. Not a huge fan of the bezel finish, or the color/size options. A 42mm with blue dial and bracelet would be nice.
I’m interested in your opinion on women’s and unisex watches, as well as the trend to larger watches over the last 60 years. My context is a Bulova “23” I inherited. At ~31mm, it is very small by today’s standards, but was a normally sized men’s watch in 1956. Most new watches do not cater to women at all, or only with diamonds or MOP, and typically only in quartz. I hear excuses for the sizing, by accounting for the size of movements, or waterproofing, but watches were 200m resistant at 34mm in the 60’s (eg the Bulova Snorkel), and Rolex offers 100m on even the 28mm OP.
True in part. I have a perpetual calendar and a moonphase and they both pushers to adjust the date. Moonphase is not a huge hassle. Is long as I don't hit the wrong pusher on the perpetual I'm home safe. Resetting that thing would be a full service 😊
There is an objective definition of value based on the capitalist economic system and tbe same has to do with return over the specific asset. That said, Rolex steel watches prof are soem of the best watches investment
I’ve heard alot of watchmakers say the Powermatic 80 is “junk” (in a more or less forceful way 😂). I can’t imagine any Swatch Group brand that uses these, doing anything other than swapping the movement out, if for no other reason than high labour costs vs low cost of machine-made drop-in Powermatic 80s.
I loved Speedmaster, but in store where sell original, clerk say that Speedmaster have plastic pointers, how to pay 5600 euro Omega with plastic pointers ( he say Moon, etc. etc.).. My father have Omega whatch , made only for our King Peter II, that s most beautifull whatch that I see minimalist pointers metal special colour in Sun and have nomber all Arabic, leather strap. A yellow solar Casioak? This is street cred, Mike! 😂
Someday you could show off your Casio collection and share your point of view on this other side of the watch world.
Enjoyed the video sir. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it 😊😊
Rolex Air-King!
The subtle curves of the Yachtmaster case are so much better looking than the chunky, hexagonal slab that is the Submariner.
Not a huge fan of the bezel finish, or the color/size options. A 42mm with blue dial and bracelet would be nice.
I'm a firm believer that it's the superior watch at least 😊
Brilliant!!! Thank You!!!Again I 27:01 27:01 Ask if I can Confidently Buy a $3500 Omega Speedmaster From the Amazon Website?????
Carry an umnumzaan regularly. Didn’t expect to see one in this video
For the connosieurs 😊😊
Question: what do you think about Vostok Amphibian Scuba dude?
What‘s the nice looking dress watch at 10:03 in left upper corner?
As long as my watch keeps time, no need for service yet.
A watch winder is essential if you own a multi complication including moon phase and don’t wear it all the time.
True in part. I have a perpetual calendar and a moonphase and they both pushers to adjust the date. Moonphase is not a huge hassle.
Is long as I don't hit the wrong pusher on the perpetual I'm home safe. Resetting that thing would be a full service 😊
“You might as well ask me to choose my children…” you got me there!! 😂
Seamaster or firstborn?
Me: "Hmmmmm..."
Wife: "It shouldn't take you that long to answer"

U50 Sinn? Did Not make your list. Very Surprised
If you see my video of my choice of FXD you'll know it was very high up there, but in the end it lost to the FXD 😊
Watchwinders are just as superfluous as Watchfinder😂
There is an objective definition of value based on the capitalist economic system and tbe same has to do with return over the specific asset. That said, Rolex steel watches prof are soem of the best watches investment
I’ve heard alot of watchmakers say the Powermatic 80 is “junk” (in a more or less forceful way 😂). I can’t imagine any Swatch Group brand that uses these, doing anything other than swapping the movement out, if for no other reason than high labour costs vs low cost of machine-made drop-in Powermatic 80s.
The complaint is that the Powermatic 80 movement uses plastic parts.
I have a question... Squale?
I loved Speedmaster, but in store where sell original, clerk say that Speedmaster have plastic pointers, how to pay 5600 euro Omega with plastic pointers ( he say Moon, etc. etc.).. My father have Omega whatch , made only for our King Peter II, that s most beautifull whatch that I see minimalist pointers metal special colour in Sun and have nomber all Arabic, leather strap. New Orient Kano and Seiko Presage Cocktail time baby blue date down in circle. I had Samsung phone and Sony smart phone smart whatch give me electro-shock i sell it. Tissot have in 90 s beautifull edition i think Portugeze somthing like that can t find that edition now.
