    The second machine from Seattle Coffee Gear's new in house brand Diletta is this, the Bello. An E61 heat exchanger espresso machine, that appears to be taking dead aim at the ever-popular Rocket Appartamento. Can the Diletta Bello beat the Rocket at its own game, or will the Bello fall short? In this review, we try to answer exactly that!

    I do like the aesthetic for this machine, but let’s call it for what it is: a slightly reworked quickmill rubino. That’s not necessarily a bad thing wll kinda did the same thing with the pathfinder; that is - taking a solid machine and improving on it. Good video

    Most vibratory pumps are mounted on rubber mounts. The portafilters are almost exactly the same as the Rocket ones (pretty generic). Steam knobs look like good old Giotto knobs, etc.
    I'm an espresso machine technician, I open these machines on a daily and I feel like machine makers (not always but often) just use generic parts, put on a different styling and after that it all depends on the marketing. I'm not saying this one dosen't seem like a good product, it just look very generic. Just like the Mio who looks pretty much like a old Silvano from Quick Mill.
    Anyways, thank you for a good review as always 🤙🏽

    • @LifestyleLab_
      @LifestyleLab_  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      These are both Quickmill machines, but redesigned quite heavily by Seattle Coffee Gear, actually largely with technicians in mind (because they service in house).
      I think you’d appreciate the way they’ve rearranged the components and access on these machines! It’s impressive if you chat with the designer :)

    Somewhat off topic but nevertheless along the lines of companies producing similar rival products. I’ve been looking for a new espresso scale that isn’t the crazy cost of the lunar. The felicita arc looks quite comparable but I’m struggling to find any reviews from trusted sources. I’m hoping you might have some insight? I currently use the brewista smart scale, which is pretty good just not quite as slick!

      @@LifestyleLab_ It has a second temperature sensor in the thermosiphon and thus is able to effectively measure the group temperature. The control system then compensates for the group being colder by heating up the boiler more, or being hotter by reducing boiler temp.
      This means it's the only HX on the market where you don't have to think about temperature management at all.

  • @WheresTheAnyKey1

    i'm new to espresso machines but, does the 15 minute warmup mean you can't make an espresso til that time has passed? Also, is there an auto start for the machine to be ready for me in the morning? Any machine you'd recommend that has those features.

    • @LifestyleLab_
      @LifestyleLab_  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you must wait for the machine to get up to temperature before brewing for consistency.
      You can autostart this machine with a smart plug because it has a hard power switch, but no the feature is not built into the machine. Not many espresso machines apart from Breville have that kind of programming

    Got an Appartamento. It‘a in its sixth year and still performs well. There are only two things I would criticise about it:
    1. the cup railing: It broke within short time and I refused to buy the overpriced metal one for a long time. I ended up buying it though, but it really should have been included right from the start, because it really made the machine feel cheap.
    2. I wish it had a pump pressure gauge. I‘ve got a E61 thermometer mounted and it’s taken the guess work out of the temperature for me. Also I know how to influence the heating cycles. So pressure is the only variable that I am missing and would really like to see to help decide the cut off point for my manual pre-infusions with lighter roasts.
    Other than that I love the machine! It’s served us very well and produces really great coffee!

    • @LifestyleLab_

    • @moritzreiber1898
      @moritzreiber1898 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok my bad I didn’t know that prices in the US are that much higher.
      Bello would be 1600€ and a Rubino costs about 1050-1150€. So does the Rocket.

    This machine is twice the price.
    I have nothing against paying more for status symbols, conversation pieces and what not. I fully understand why someone would buy a Ferrari instead of a Toyota.
    But I have to ask... is this machine capable of making appreciably better coffee?
    How about a double-blind taste test?

    • @Adamsavage793

    One criticism about the build quality. We do not know the build quality because you did not unscrew the top and sides. Most reviews show the inside. It might be mostly plastic inside. Until you check the general parts inside and how organized it is under the hood, location of heat sensor, how the pressure is handled. You really do not know the build quality.
