      @@truestoryyo2717 Your vehicle does not need a USB port to make Apple CarPlay work. The Pioneer DMH-160BT has a USB port on the back of the receiver. The USB port is designed to give you Apple CarPlay on the in-dash receiver screen when you plug in your iPhone. This will also charge your phone when it's plugged into USB.

      Phone mirroring is available for Android based phones only. As of 2021 September, the phone must have Android OS 5.0 up to Android 10. This may work on newer version of Android OS. It will not work for iPhone.
      This receiver offers phone mirroring or Android auto. One at a time, not both, at the same time. You must choose one or the other in the Priority of Connection menu.

    My receiver won’t acknowledge the SWC signals. I’m using the PAC RP5-GM31 module . I already swapped out the module for another and same results the module flashes when I press the buttons on steering wheel but the radio doesn’t do anything. Tried setting the buttons up manually and still nothing. How can I get another swc plug for the back of the radio as I’m thinking mine is bad. Checked the website but couldn’t find what I needed

    Just finished installing this into a Volvo XC70 with a back-up camera. Looks sharp and almost everything works great except the Android car-play. When connecting to my pixel 6, it will initiate connection, then drop it rapidly over and over again. Hopefully there's a way to fix this? It reads the phone, just won't maintain the connection.

      Please be more specific with your question. Are you saying that Apple CarPlay is working with the receiver and the USB extension cable with an iPhone, but Android Auto is not working?
      Please be sure to update your phone to the latest Android OS .
      Restart your phone.
      I recommend to try a different cable. Or to remove the extension cable. Possibly one long cable that is USB type A on the radio and and USB type C for the Pixel on the phone end.

    I'm experiencing interference when the engine runs that affects both radio and bluetooth signal. Works fine when engine is off. Wired the ground directly into adapter to original connectors, might it be better if I rerun the ground to mount directly on metal chassis of vehicle?

    • @pioneerelectronics

      @@pioneerelectronics Thank you. It is a DMH-160BT. My vehicle is a 2004 Chevy Blazer. No external amps or other mods. I did try the OEM head unit and can detect faint interference even with that which I likely never noticed, but with the new digital tuner it is constant crackling and many channels can't tune in - but only when the engine is running when it's off it sounds perfect and tunes great. It doesn't seem like alternator noise either since it doesn't change as I accelerate, it is just a constant crackle.

    • @MattPilz
      @MattPilz ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pioneerelectronics I tried rerouting the ground to the chassis and even direct to battery but it did not improve the interference. It is a 2004 Chevy Blazer with no other mods or amps. I have a 10A suppression filter coming that I may try. It doesn't seem like typical alternator noise it is just continual crackling and reduced power when engine is running. I can try to measure ground voltage when operating too.

    • @pioneerelectronics
      @pioneerelectronics  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MattPilz Troubleshooting noise can be complicated for sure.
      Here are a couple ideas:
      1- Change the ground to chassis instead of using factory ground wire or any ground from an interface module including steering wheel control interface if used.
      2- After the ground has been swapped, try unplugging the vehicles AM/FM antenna from behind the 160bt and start the vehicle to see if noise is still induced in this radio system. I have seen poorly grounded AM /FM radio antennas (window or fender mounted) or cable issues that induced noise into the radio system.
      3- On Amazon, for a few dollars , you may consider buy a bag of ferrite noise chokes for noise suppression . These tiny magnet type filters can be snapped around the red accessory and yellow main battery leads of the radio which may help knock out any unwanted induced motor noise . Usually motor noise should rev up when the gas pedal is pressed so I'm not certain how it's being induced into this vehicle
      4- For testing purposes only if possible, bring a small regulated 12 volt power supply out to the vehicle and disconnect the batt, acc, ground (yellow, red, and black) from the 160bt power plug but leave the radio mounted in the dash. Connect the AC/DC power supply up to the radios red and yellow together (12V) along with ground to power up the radio from an outside power source and not the vehicle battery. Start the vehicle to see if the noise is gone or not. There could be a main vehicle harness running around or below the head unit that maybe inducing noise.

    • @MattPilz
      @MattPilz ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pioneerelectronics Thank you for all of those suggestions! Unfortunately I have tried all of them except the testing of a separate 12V and it continues to occur. This also included trying a brand new antenna and cable isolated from anything under the hood. And I tried the ferrites on the cables mentioned as well as antenna cable and even spark plugs and nothing made it any better. Interestingly enough if the antenna is UNPLUGGED or TUNED TO A NON-FREQUENCY (no airwave) then there is no crackling and it sounds the same with or without the engine running. So it seems there is something wonky with actual tuned soundwaves being input or output. Is there any chance this could still be an internal issue with the head unit itself? Just seems odd if it sounds so good without the engine running. I'd hate to buy a second unit just to rule that out as a possibility but am running low on ideas.

      Pioneer in-dash receivers are designed to work with the Pioneer ND-BC8 backup camera. I don’t know about the operation of other cameras.
      Be sure to plug the Brown camera output RCA into the Brown RCA Input on the back of the Pioneer in dash receiver.
      The Pioneer ND-BC8 camera needs power and ground to operate. The camera should always have power when the vehicle is switched on. And the camera should power off when the vehicle is switched off. This is very similar to the way the Red Accessory wire works on a Pioneer in-dash receiver. Just because the camera has power does not mean you are viewing the camera window on the in-dash receiver.
      The receiver’s violet/white wire is used to let the in-dash receiver know that the vehicle is in it’s reverse gear and, to automatically open the backup camera window on the receiver screen.
      Do not connect the violet/White wire to the camera.
      When you put the vehicle in it’s reverse gear, the violet/White wire should sense a change in voltage. This automatically opens the camera window on the in-dash receiver. And closes the camera window, when the vehicle is taken out of it’s reverse gear. One possibly connection for the violet/White Reverse Gear wire is the vehicle’s backup lamp terminal.

      @@XxBUGZBUNNYxX23 In North America, Pioneer aftermarket in-dash receivers are designed to install into many different vehicles. Not one make, not one model, and not one year. Since the aftermarket receiver is designed to be used in many different vehicles, there is no connector included in the box for any specific vehicle. Pioneer uses the same wire harness colors for all aftermarket receivers. The Pioneer wire harness color codes are explained in this Pioneer How To video: th-cam.com/video/-bF3uzzaT30/w-d-xo.html The Pioneer wire harness color codes are not designed to match up to any make, model, or year of vehicle and any color match that happens is purely coincidental.
      I recommend professional installation of an aftermarket receiver. You can find a Pioneer Authorized Dealer for professional installation in North America here: www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Where-To-Buy
      Many people choose to do the installation themselves. In that case I recommend using a wire harness adapter that's made specifically for your vehicle, along with a dash installation kit that will create a perfect fit for the new receiver. The size of the Pioneer DMH-160BT is 2 DIN. This means the height of this receiver will require some modification to the sub dash to make it fit in your vehicle. It can be done, but a slight modification is required. There may be a better option for you.

    Will this fit in a silverado 2005 ??

    • @pioneerelectronics
      @pioneerelectronics  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes this can work, however, please keep reading for a few details that you'll want to know. There are several different variations on the 2005 Chevy Silverado. If you have the 1500 Standard Cab or similar there is a support bracket behind the factory radio that needs to be cut out in order to install any new in-dash receiver that is "full depth". The DMH-160BT will fit with a proper dash installation kit and wiring kit with the removal of the support bracket behind the factory receiver.
      It's not major surgery to cut out the support bracket, it's done all the time. If you are uncomfortable doing this kind of work, I strongly recommend taking your vehicle to a Pioneer Authorized Car Audio dealer for installation. You can find one here: www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Where-To-Buy
      There is another option. You can use the Pioneer DMH-W4660NEX seen here: th-cam.com/video/B2TTfJUD-es/w-d-xo.html and you won't have to remove the factory support bracket. The DMH-W4660NEX has a shallow chassis so, you won't need to remove the support. You'll still need a proper dash installation kit and wiring kit.
