Definitely need a lapel mic for Taylor when driving
Looks like he’s got one on his collar, unless that’s his pearl necklace 😊
his necks too fat to pick it up properly
@@Kingcloudiiunwanted comment
Wireless mics for all of them would be better.
I've heard police officers, off the record, say they don't want the motorway limit to be raised. Not because they want to nick all the people, but because if they raised it, they would then have to police that new limit harder. Right now, they basically ignore huge numbers of drivers.
""If you could only have one car for the rest of your life, what BMW model would it be?"
@@bigduphusaj162 They do love their cars, we cannot blame them for it, even tho it is stale.
For me it'd be motor swapped RX-8, if you want something fresh lol
Does a 2CV with a BMW K1200 motorbike engine swap count?
That would be my dream if BMW had to be involved.
Taylors take on undertaking is absolutely correct. The definition of undertaking is moving from your lane to the left lane and then back to the right lane again.
Of course Rory the Range Rover fanatic doesn't know what undertaking is, middle lane heroes those RR drivers.
spot on
It just isn't but the law advises against it but it technically isn't illegal you can only get done for due care and attention
I know a lot of people will blame the person in the wrong lane BUT if you do pass them on the left, it doesn't fix their behaviour but just reinforces it. They will just think it's OK because someone else can get past them on the left if they want. There are a lot of ignorant/arrogant people out there on the roads unfortunately and we need to fix that somehow. I chose to come up to them on the left and give them a little flash just to offer them the chance to come in.
@@1984ed101 And they never do!
You guys should consider doing a 'clips' channel for people who want to watch some parts of this, but aren't interested in watching/listening to the full podcast. You've already done all the filming, so its literally just free content. If you want an example you can have a look at the Linus Tech Tips WAN show, it makes it much more digestible for those of us who are only interested in certain clips.
In all fairness, they did that at the start, and people complained and wanted the full podcast.
Can't please everyone.
@@MrManBuzzPor qué no los dos!
timestamps would also do the trick.
well.. it's not that easy to even put chapter timing marks due to the (un)structure of their typical banter.
Only watch what you want the rest of us like the full vid
You might be interested in checking out a unit on Telford road, bicester, Oxfordshire. It's the old lotus unit where they designed and store lotus cars. It's for rent as well 🙃
As someone who bought a new Suzuki during the kixashi sales years. Never heard of it 😅
I’m looking forward to collecting the Z3, it seems like a very practical family car 😂
Had tickets for shed fest just couldn’t get near 😢
He's not fussed pal, he got the ticket money, heard s few sag they didn't even get to see half of it, he was making out its show of the year
I would have been gutted in your position. Not AutoAlex team's fault though. PetrolHeadonism were the organisers.
I didn't make it in, have got my money back, shame as it looked really good.
Not Alex's fault but it was a shame.
@jamesonslow petrolheadonism are the biggest crooks on the scene wouldn't trust them guys as far as I could throw them
What happened
Kizashi is a awd, hot sedan. Would compete with alot of the stuff you guys drive.Should pick one up as a project. The Suzuki SX4 was also a sweet little Suzuki product..
It's a luke warm sedan really. Still a cool unicorn but its not fast
Poor lane discipline is the name of the game here in the US, particularly in California. You can drive in any lane at practically any speed on the highway. The speed limit is generally 65 MPH but the majority of motorists travel at 75-ish MPH, except for the Prius in the fast lane going 60 MPH. So you have to use any open lane to get around slower drivers. There's no acknowledgment of the "rules." You won't get pulled over for undertaking, as long as you're not going 80-90+ MPH zig-zagging all the lanes.
I saw 'speed limit enforced by aircraft' signs in the vast openness of CAs roads... That was amusing. I also drove a desert road at the back of Edwards AFB and didn't see another car for an hour.
Yeah I haven’t seen as much bad driving in two weeks as I did when I was in California last year. Eastern Europe, Italy, Paris, Barcelona all have nothing on San José/San Francisco and the highway down through Gilroy 😂
I'm so, so glad that you bought up the undertaking conversation. Me and my girlfriend drive to Nottingham and Manchester a couple times a year to visit friends and I get so annoyed with the level of lane discipline in this country. I've often made the point that for a lot of motorway driving, you will get further, faster by sitting in the inside lane at 70 whilst undertaking the people in lane 2 are doing 65 odd. Even Shmee in some videos has mentioned the level of lane discipline when coming in to the UK from Europe.
I feel a bit sick that I had Suzuki Kizashi in my mind during the 20 questions game.
the fuck is a Suzuki Kizashi
Same lol i was sure it was kizashi at the start
@@Stealth360stealththere’s a thing called Google
i had it as a hail mary around question 17/18, but im in Australia and was questioning myself on whether Europe got them
@JW-qf2fx same here, had it at 17.
But i forgot the name. I was thinking on the lines of "swazzy" 😂
The live podcast - definitely sounds like fun. Make it happen guys!
Totally agree with Alex on the last topic of conversation. Collective ignorance and stupidity on the roads just drives me mad.
At 28:00 is the "If you could only have one car for the rest of ur life" question
Wow Australian highways are slow as then 😂. Majority of highways are 110kph, but as soon as it’s single lane it drops to 100kph.
I think we need an autobarn over here fr
Agreed
I haven't heard of the Suzuki Kixashi but surprised Rory, didn't use his phone to look for Suzuki's cars 😂😂 Loving the podcast, keep up the great content. Congratulations Alex on the baby news again August babies are the best ( I am one of those)
Hello from South Africa. We also have the Suzuki Kizashi here. Love the channels and collaboration with old colleagues.🤘🏻
At least alex has cleaned his drivers headrest since the last podcast in the car lol edit: take it back, and he just changed it to the passenger 🤦♂️ lol
Timestamps or cut up sections a must
100% agree, not having timestamps on a 'proper' i.e. well resourced YT channel feels like a missed opportunity TBH.
Really easy to do to, you just enter a time code and then a title and it self inserts.
Why?
@@Hunter-NG Because with some longer videos on some channels, you don't always want to watch the full video e.g. a tech round up video tha's 30 minutes long but only contains a 4 minute segment about the thing you're interested in.
Or just watch/listen to it
Has it been 2 years that went quick !!! Day 1 i subbed its been a great journey
I personally love the adhdness of your podcasts all of the shop but we love it 👌😂
I find it can be difficult to follow at times though. I like these, but I prefer the Car Throttle podcasts where it was a tiny bit more structured.
No structure we love anarchy
A Kizashi is an intriguing prospect. I've seen a few near me in the South Birmingham area.
That was a really good podcast. I love when you comment on others' driving behaviour.
Live podcasts sound like a treat
Great carguys conversation at the end!! :)
The rear light Rory had on constantly served no purpose whatsoever
it puts a little light on his face so he’s not just a shadow in the back seat
One thing to note about Traffic officers. Whilst they may not be able to pull you over themselves, they do work with the police & can/do pass video evidence of dangerous driving, speeding etc for Police to do what they wish with. So may not get caught on the day, but could get a letter in the post if they've got you on dashcam speeding past & their cam reads 70mph
Theres a guy with two Kizashi's just round the corner from my parent's. They didn't sell well, but were sold new in the UK. Only thing that lets them down was only one engine and they was auto only, so not super sporty
How long did it take to swap the engine over?
1:03 - As someone from Wigan, condolences. Some great B roads though if you go up to Rivington / Bolton way.
Enjoyed the format, should do a few more podcasts on the road maybe get the driver a clip on mic 😎
Driving lessons only teach you to pass your test. They don’t really teach you to drive. I was lucky in that I had an instructor who taught things he wasn’t required to so I was better equipped than some others may have been. A scary amount of things are being omitted from tests these days and I think that’s why the standard of driving has dropped! Theres a certain amount only experience can teach you but there’s definitely an issue with what people are and aren’t being taught. There’s also a massive problem with laziness and distraction! I 100% agree with you that motorway driving should be required in tests as it would definitely help.
i know in the u.s at least in my state you do have highway driving as part of your test where ur tested on entering exiting and changing lanes unless its changed since 2010
Is that a ZOOM H6 ESSENTIAL being used to record all the inputs from XM7s? Care to share whats the full chain/setup?
I am a police and we have definitely nicked Rorys bike. We have been doing some sick skids and wheelies around the impound lot. Silly hamster man doesn't know what fun he's missing
Am also police.
Can confirm.
I literally said suzuki as Taylor did and instantly thought Jimny with Taylor as you've done an episode with one love watching you guys each week Taylor is hilarious every week poor Rory gets some stick but it's all very entertaining loved also the podcast you recently did with Jack and ethan glad you're all doing your own things but are all still friends you all keep me entertained weekly and look forward to the next pod cast and the up coming classic car challenge keep up the good work guys and Alex congratulations on the new addition on its way
We have the 'Keep left unless overtaking' signs in Australia and they still ignore them.. you have to undertake to get anywhere
in fairness, the Suzuki Kizashi Saloon was sold in the UK, for 1 year.... 2012-2013.
Yep, definitely heard of a kizashi, and really quite like the look of them as a cheap, fun run about 🙌
On the question of the best all-rounder to keep forever I'm with Tay Tay. I think people forget Jeremy Clarkson took an e39 touring across Africa..... that 540i of Taylors will be mega to drive, practical, rear drive, manual and semi reliable. Rory your opinion doesn't matter to anyone as previously mentioned.
Live podcast, YESSS!
Definitely know the Suzuki Kizashi.. Mat from highpeakautos did a vid on one a few months back
I recommend Ashley Neal for driving related queries! He is always spot on, especially in relation to motorway driving :)
Kazashi was big in india when it initially came out. It didn’t sell very well but it still competes and beats some of the new cars being manufactured currently
Hey guys. Love the content! About lane discipline on motorways, is un/taught depending on where you take your lessons. In Norwich for example, the nearest motorway is like 90 minutes away. I only went on a motorway for the first time over the weekend (through a pass plus course). Had to drive all the way to Cambridge to go on a motorway. My instructor did tell me to keep in the left lane but I guess it’s down the instructors.
P.S. I had to stay at 58mph as a little red car in lane 2 was going 60mph. This infuriated a few lorry drivers - causing them to perform some daredevil manoeuvres.
A podcast tour would be a right laugh!
Hi chaps, first of all, I love everything you all do!
Undertaking: I’m a PSV mechanic and often drive coaches.
With some having 13litres and 460 bhp the coaches hit there 62mph speed limiter quite hard.
Which is 6mph than most trucks.
If someone’s in the second lane on a 3 lane motorway at 60mph, by law I’m not aloud in lane 3
And I’m not aloud to under take, so technically we must sit behind the slower person. I don’t I undertake 😂👌and yes I’d defiantly go to a live podcast! I’d travel from Pembrokeshire for that!
I only found out about the Kizashi when Matt from High Peak Autos did a vid a few months ago
5:00 My HomePod trying to navigate
Please take the F11 to NVM Performance for a stage 1 tune and xHP gearbox software. ⚙️
Completely agree with Rory 57:43....
I used to be a bit more of a boy racer in my sh1tb0x's back in the day and always wanted to feel like the fastest thing on the road.
But now, driving is more of a chore with the amount of ID10T's on the road hogging lanes and having no clue... you need your wits about you with all the extra traffic.
Might just be getting old (43), but with my remapped facelift E46 330D MSport manual coupe (gotta love that M57 😃), find myself driving around in much more of a relaxed driving style because it's just life in easy mode and just sit there in motorway traffic taking it all in judging everyone else.
I have power there if needed for avoiding potential problems, but rarely used.
10:37 For those like myself who are more interested in the Rory motorbike story
I worked at Suzuki last year and discovered the Kizashi when clearing out some old brochures! Would've loved to have driven one
Loads of those Suzuki Kizashi where I used to live in Puerto Rico back in the day. Very nice cars
Yes live Podcast 🔥🔥
In Australia, I'm pretty sure any two-lane road 80kph+ it is illegal to sit in the outside lane without overtaking anybody. We also have "keep left unless overtaking" signs on most highways or two-lane roads. However we get such a huge influx of tourists that do not know this, and some people just aren't aware.
I know the kizashi from old car magazines (never seen one irl though😂) I love how the headrests have been swapped😂😂 Taylor didn't want Alex's hair juice on him
I didnt have time to listen to the 1Hr long pod cast.. so I set it to 2x Playback... and it was far more entertaining and because they were so relaxed.. Didnt miss a thing and understood all of it.
did top gear for stars in the car in the old onces and love watching your video and it was great to see you all at shedfest
Though rare I have seen a Suzuki Kizashi, it looks nice! Suzuki Swift is a really nice handling car.
Yes to the live podcast!
Definitely High Wycombe as that's where I work 🤣
Definitely a YES from me for a live podcast please lads!!
In the Guildford/ Godalming area 😊
Thanks.
Ps - look how successful it was for 44 Teeth when they did a similar thing 👍🏼👍🏼
a live podcast would be great fun guys.
I agree with Taylor, I (hypothetically of course) undertake cars on a regular basis. I'm driving on cruise control, there are three lanes, and I'll undertake if the fast lane is exceeding the speed limit, but the middle lane is much below this. I know that it would be illegal to undertake, but this way it's saver, I'll be extra cautious on how the car in the middle lane is driving and potentially moving over to the first lane and I'm not hindering the fast lane.
It's all common sense, and making it saver for anyone. In my eyes, the car in the middle lane is endangering the other commuters, and that should be illegal.
I've only ever heard of the Kizashi on TH-cam and it was when High Peak Auto's did a video on one. I did quite like it to be fair and it's obscurity does make it kind of cool. Never seen one in "the wild", never heard of it was on sale and did not expect to hear of it again.
I'm 45 now and I still think one of my scariest moments was going on a motor way for the first time ina lil mk2 fiesta and having massive trucks on both sides of me. It also showed me how friendly truckers were in those days as they would flash me back in after I overtook them.
You can take your test without driving on a motorway, there isn’t a motorway in Cornwall, another excellent podcast, keep up the great adventures and positivity
If ya gonna include off road would need to be a evo Subaru so on which one is optional I like a fiesta st for economy with the rally cross suspension and some engine improvements obviously hahaha
Thai driver here, from the UK. Undertaking anything goes driving. Safety 5th. Crazy stuff
But no one gets upset is the style.
Do a road trip here lads?
🇹🇭
I feel (as a biker), when you drive a bike on public roads, you learn how to read the traffic much better
Totally agree. You also drive your bike as sitting on needles because you have to drive with your brain just in case people are blind.
(Seems like they just don't acknowledge you even if you're 5 meters away)
There used to be a white Kisashi at the other end of my road. Quite a distinctive looking car.
Another thing with the freeway ettiqute and awareness is that people don't seem to know, is that you really don't get anywhere if you're in a rush. People change lanes like crazy to get ahead, and you'll be cruising at a comfortable speed letting people pass, and come back upon those people 20 miles down the road, at least here in the US.
Really hoping the Triumph Stag I saw in the TDC video is part of the Classic Car series, Dad owned one as I was growing up. Had a Leyland P76 engine swap & was nothing but problems, but when it ran it was an absolutely gorgeous car. Still one of my favourite looking GT cars
Yes the Kizashi was a Mondeo rival. They were sold new in Australian
Came with diesel, manual, CVT, FWD, AWD and is criminally underrated. Miles better than a wide body Accord, Camry. It's a shame they never made a hot Sport version
I have been the owner of a kizashi for 2 years. IMO its one of the most under appriciated cars. When it came out in 2011 it was as expensive as an Audi a4- its competitor, so people didnt buy it, and it has flown under the radar since.
57:01 the discussion around this mark I agree very much with. I personally also feel that ‘petrolheads’ have SUCH a better/safer driving style (for the most part anyway) than most other motorists, I don’t know whether it is because of more of a connection with driving or simply trying to take care of their cars. When I was taking my test, I had friends who had no care for cars etc at all and failed 3 or 4 times. Every single person I know who enjoys cars passed quickly with little to no faults. Just something I notice really haha
I know about Suzuki Kizashi, there are alot of aftermarket tuning parts and i saw one at Tokyo Autosalon.
56:21 lets thank rory for bringing common sense to the podcast.
Live podcast in Scotland, specifically Fife, somewhere near Markinch would be great!
For 20 questions, I was thinking of the liana, when you said sporty I thought well a well known tv programme did have one as a track car, I've heard of a kizashi before but they are very rare, only 8 in total for sale on aututrador
100% would love to come to a live podcast.
How can someone be a car guy n not know about the great Suzuki kizashi. A rare Suzuki gem
Shedfest was an utter disgrace, got to the W3W point 2 miles out at 10:20am (gates open 10.30), stuck in traffic 0.5 miles out at 2:30 pm and ended up turning around and going home. Seriously unorganised and annoyed.
I heard that people were getting refunds from Petrolhedonism. Have you tried to get one?
Should of gotten a show car ticket, I was in straight away, hardly any queuing and we saw Tavarish on the way too!
I was there for 9.30 when the parking opened and went straight in 😂
I feel if everyone had ignored Alex’s advice to not turn up early everyone would have got in. We queued for hours and ended up walking a long way just so we had a chance of getting in.
The takeaway from this experience should be: if you expect a lot of people to try and squeeze their car into the same area, use a different type of transport if only for the last bit ☺️
I read up theat they are on about using speeds on the motor way to 100mph and 80mph on the dual carriageway too
In Australia the Kizashi certainly isn't common but does/ did exist.
55:00 i passed my test in july, never touched a motorway in my lessons and never went on one in the test, it was dual carriageways at most. when i asked my instructor if i could get some experience on a motorway, he said there was no point as it wasn't on the test, but there was alot of things he taught me that wasn't on the test either
I had the Kizashi in mind but also thought it might have been the LEGEND that was the Suzuki Liana
I guessed Suzuki Kizashi at question 14. BUUUUTTT I do agree with Rory & Taylor that it's not well known. Underrated little thing that looked like a Swift with a boot that didn't sell well in the UK, but had a pokey 2.4L engine.
45:53 correct Taylor. If it's says and you not breaking the speed limit you are aloud
In Australia there are heaps of that satzuki
287 Kizashi's left in the UK at time of typing 🤣
Live podcast would be cool. Wycombe Swan is a good venue, ive seen comedians and theatrical productions there. It might be suitable for a live podcast.
Live podcasts would be cool. Come to Peterborough. 😉
I know about the Suzuki Heihatchi.
I was wondering if Alex was talking about it during their guesses.
Didn’t the Kazashi come with a v6? I know the car they always seem cheap online but I’m curious if they’re actually any good
Suzuki Kizashi is a great international car. It was one of the last ones in the states before Suzuki pulled out.
Bizzar watching the video and seeing you drive past cannock and think, surly thats the wrong way 😂😂
I feel Offended Alex not all of a America drives like California here in the midwest the left lane is the passing lane and it normally kept clear
i saw a shedfest sticker in the wild the day after the event and man I'm so sad I couldn't come
