Will he be able to find a diamond in the rough on Facebook marketplace, or will he end up buying a rusty old wagon without any help? To make it even better, we'll DIY modify whatever car he buys to give it that little touch of cool everyone wants in a daily driver.

Right? I was at first like "no... no one can replace Alex" but now? I like him a lot and he works well with others.
Edwin's been with the channel a long time. He did the cool motorsport stories, but so much better seeing him infront of the camera letting that personality come out.
Edwin is just such a natural...him and Ethan on this video are hilarious together.
I know right, he's a good presenter and a car guy. Now if they could just get rid of Ethan who doesn't work as a car guy/straight man - he's just a boring middle manager type that detracts from the good work of Jack and Edwin.

as a 25 year lover of vws, i totally approve of this one as well. the 1.9 is a fantastic engine, and an estate is just so useful and handy. its super clean, and obviously well kept. i'd drive it for sure!
Yeah not gonna go far wrong with a VW 1.9tdi. Get it on veg oil and it's mega cheap motoring.

I've bought myself a similar one, except mine has got 4x4 and leather interior an xenon lights. Bloody great daily driver, the torque'y engine pulls up any hill and doesn't struggle anywhere, the stock suspension is comfortable enough, the 6 speed gearbox shifts buttery smooth... no major leaks, no cracking, very little rust.
There is a reason why these cars are deemed to be unkillable - Skodas are cheap to buy and maintain, they're so popular any repair shop knows how to work on these, and if you don't abuse them, they can be very reliable. And that 1.9 TDi PD man.... they're known to run over 600.000 miles with no major issiues if you hit your maintenance intervals.

Congrats! It looks great! But it's not a PD. Octavia with PD engines was produced from 2005 and didn't have 81kw and 110hp. This engine is an older concept but also much better because of its reliability. I'm sure it will make you happy ;)

Just to let everyone know, the DOT mark or Date of Tyre mark isn't representing the month of manufacture. In fact the first two numbers represent the week of the year. The last two numbers, do represent the year of manufacture. So it would have been the 8th week of 2020 meaning it would have been made around late feb, not august. Not a big deal but if you've been reading it wrong. You could easily be sold an old tyre from a garage or tyreshop without realising. And fyi in the uk, tyres aren't allowed to be sold as new tyres if they're over 5 years old. At least in the UK as for the rest of the world, i'm unsure on that.

A first generation Octavia is a monster. It might not be fast but it will run untill the body rusts away. These 1,9's are basically invincible. I have one with half of milion kilometers on the clock and still running strong. Not a single engine part has failed. But this is not a PD engine. That 1.9 in the video is rotary diesel pump 1.9. The PD (Pumpe-Düse) engine has no separate high pressure fuel pump like this one does since the pumps are inside the injectors. I know these VAG rotary diesels (as we call them here "Rotačky") inside and out and they are amazing. I would even say they are better than PD
I wish you guys would upload more often. And Edwin is such a great addition to the channel. Definitely prefer him over Alex who was a bit over the top for my liking.
Check the dip stick as well for mayo , however if the person selling the car knows there a head gasket issuse they most likey cleaned it before some shows up to view the car , check coolant as well for signs off oil.
