    It’s important to know a factory 2500hd needs a 2” hitch drop. So if you have a 6” lift you need 8” hitch drop. I have bds 6.5” and I needed 8” drop hitch. I towed my hellcat and it was easy.

    yes they can tow. you have to offset your lift with a drop hitch. also the size of the trailer and truck are at question too. a 2 inch increase on a 10ft trailer will cause the trailer to dance at 65 where as just putting in a 2 inch drop hitch levels the trailer back out with my explorer. it has a 2 inch spacer lift. found this out on my way from little rock to nashville. got 20 miles down the road and bought a drop hitch.

    Hey Custom Offsets! Great video about towing with a lifted truck, but there’s one thing that I feel could be discussed better or be elaborated on more in depth. What drop hitches are the best for towing with a lifted truck and maintaining the stock towing capacity on a truck where the lift kit is sitting 10” high on 40” tires versed how that would work someone else’s truck being stock and another truck with say a 6” lift and 35s?

    I lifted my F-350 Crew Cab, short bed, Power stroke 3.5-inch, Ready Lift 3.5 SST, and no issue pulling. I did put leveling bags on the rear for when towing but a proper hitch takes care of most of that.
    Wheels and tires are a variable gearing device but if you are cutting it that close you are a fool - BTW your towing capacity is calculated based on your breaking ability not your pulling ability.
    My 3.5-inch really isn't even lifting it; only raised it one inch in the rear and removed the rake but it will take 38x13.5 Ridge Grapplers on stock platty wheels.
    I am a licensed Mechanical Engineer. I will keep my own advice but this is a good video.

    I'm confused how doesn't a lift affect towing? When you add an off road suspension to your truck you typically get softer springs. Wouldn't the softer springs squat more than your factory springs and be more unstable under load? I would also assume changing the factory springs would negatively affect payload on the truck.

      Its possible to tow, you just need the right combination to make it work. The higher the lift you have, the bigger the drop on your hitch. The bigger drop the less tow rating you have.

    A note, your speech is wrong bigger tires are less rpms not more. Your in a nutshell gearing your truck higher the taller tire you go to.

    Personally i really feel like lifted trucks are slowly going out of style , they look ok but i think leveled trucks are becoming way more popular , also it is dumb how expensive lifts /rims can be why do we do so much and spend so much just to create us more headaches? Yeah it’s for looks and looks good but idk anymore

      Well if this is true this is sad. Must be all you cuckservatives. I like 6"-12" lifts. For the most part very white culture. So of course we are losing it due to squats and level kits. Young kids listening to rap in their pickups. Psssshhhhh

      Ill keep it going. I also like The 35"-40" tires you cant pit 37s or 40s on a leveled. Down here in VA to FL and over to TX, we'll keep it going

    This is why lifted trucks are WORSE than stock. (In utility and capability terms)

  • @RS-io6vm
    @RS-io6vm 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    it loses half of its towing. capabilities. yes you can tow. but now you need to re gear the truck just to get it back. the higher you lift it the steeper the gear you need to counteract it. now you drive around a lifted truck with the same type of gears a drag racing car or a rock crawler would have. neither of those types of cars are daily drivers due to gear ratio. so don't do it

    OK, so using a truck for towing..... if I lift it, bling out the wheels and tires, swap the gears and basically turn it into a mall crawler.... I defeat the purpose of the TOWING truck and make it more dangerous to tow with many different ways.... GOT IT! Thanks! =] I'm guessing that's why it doesn't come will all that flashy peacocking nonsense from the factory? Those ridiculous monstrosities have terrible off road capability as well as the huge hit to their intended purpose, towing. I'd take a stock 1st gen cheroke or yota for a few thousand bucks and crush them off road. What a joke and horrible waste of time and money. Buy hey... I look cool right?.... right?.....
