One thing I’m most impressed is both of you wearing mask outside while working. Showing safety first is probably the most important thing you can teach while showing and describing your technique on creating something. Cheers! 🤙
As an amateur with woodworker, i typically feel overpowered with the entire arrangement th-cam.com/users/postUgkxrYREG3-7f1Aqk9ams3ZESRNzGnfdUtyQ . Be that as it may, this arrangements drove me through with much clarity and effortlessness woodplans. Works i now work like a genius. That is great!
I created the same sink for a client in 2002. The faucet coming off the wall was a mirror. If they have issues with faucet, they can access the plumbing from other side of wall. I must say, I’m pretty darn happy with myself creating a modern design that sustained time.
Just a quick tip. When you have a situation like that demolding again, with a hole in the bottom, blow compressed air into the hole, and the form will demold easier
The best DIY videos are those that start off making me think I could do something myself and save a little money... then 11 minutes in have me thoroughly impressed and ready to hand over whatever it costs to concrete professionals. Bravo!
Perfect video! It gave me answers to a couple of my "wonder how I'm gonna do that" questions and puts me in a different direction from pouring to hand packing. You're all ACES as far as I'm concerned!! I'm still shaking my head thinking "why didn't I think of that" about the mold made of shaped/shaved foam.....really, its weird how one can get so stuck on stupid that they don't see the forest for the trees. Lol, I feel born again from such a narrow minded mindset on inner sink mold. TY!
Quite outstanding. I was confident in my ability to make concrete molds for polymer countertops before, but I couldn't think of a great inexpensive way to make a sink that didn't involve hard edges or risk ruining the finished product when delaminating the melamine. Very insightful video, and awesome innovation!
The idea is very innovative but definitely costs a lot of money compared to industrial products marketed. It takes a lot of DIY time. Thanks for your ideas .
If you make 5000 pcs of these concrete sink...and sell it at $200..you can again be a Millionaire.. you are so talented.. everything you touch turns to gold. you are destined for greatness!
keren banget, bisa juga dipakai buat counter top kitchen set, penjelasannya detail... gak pelit bagi2 ilmunya. trus kl emang ada salah pasti ngaku, jadi kitanya gak ikutan salah. NICEEEEEE
.... Hats down. Best concrete, designers and renovator I've seen. Deff white is better than grey. (I do like marble though..) U have great taste and insights. Loved the black themed bathroom.. Amazing.
one small detail that is helpful in my view, which is adding a hole connected to the drain pipe that helps to drain the water faster the hole should be in the top connected to the drain pipe
Making your own washtop, you can make it deeper, so one can soak things like pullovers or stuff like that in it. The most sinks aren deep anymore and personly I dont like that. And sometimes I want to do something with the hair and dont wont to do it in the shower, than again a deeper sink and a higher faucet is very nice. Only maybe to think about, because you can have it customiced. 👍🏻🦁
If you have compressed air and want to deal with that vacuum differently in the next go around. Try using an air nozzle and shooting air under the melamine.
In your black sink, I would like to see more about the wooden insets. They resemble a Japanese style of hinoki bathroom pieces, like stools and shelves. They seem to be separate pieces you can slide up and down the sink as needed for laying out objects near the basin.
This is AWESOMEEEE! You have a lot of fancy tools, but I think we could round up some similar tools, and then McGyver the rest. We really want to do a lightweight concrete sink in our bus conversion. Thanks so much for being so thorough with this video! We appreciate it. - B + E
Mike...keep the water in the mist coat and the backer the same. Otherwise one will draw moisture from the other and effect colour and may cause spider cracking. Use a product called slump buster to stiffen it up. Handpack from bottom to top and let the side sit up a little longer before adding on more concrete to the vertical and you wont get the crack at the top which is slump from packing too much at once and going top to bottom.
Stuck from a vacuum seal not because you forgot some type of releasing agent haha. Thanks for the upload, everything was DIY except that gun, I can't find one to rent at a reasonable price.
Thank you! I do my best to only work with brands that I trust....I used Sprayway for 6 months at my house before agreeing to do my first sponsored video with them 😀
@@modustrial no need to reply to this one but I thank you for your acknowledgment and just turn on notifications dude. keep up the good vids. Looking forward to the finished product of the renovation of the house/office.
I'm no plumber but I saw that drain and was like, "That's gonna be a problem." Love your fix. I would have puttied the whole bottom. I wouldn't have even thought to use resin. Which is honestly embarrassing to say since resin art is my thing.
Where do you get your resin from? Here on You Tube there are several people doing all these resin projects, I went to Home Depot and a tiny little box of resin was $22.00!! I figure that there must be a more reasonable supplier out there.
I use total boat. You can get 15% off if you use my code in the video description. For this type of mold, you want table top epoxy.... The type of epoxy you'll need depends on what you want to make, so feel free to ask questions if you aren't sure
I think you just became my new favorite channel! I wonder what the approximate cost was to DIY. I am trying to figure out if this is the cheapest route to go or if a big box store will be cheaper for my specific needs. I am willing to put in the work to create a custom piece, but also am on a tight budget. I know that inflation has changed things, but what goes up must come down... and I wont be ready for this piece for a little longer...
Hi man, that's amazing! Quick question on the concrete gun part: do you have any reference video/link on how to do that technique? Can you actually achieve the same result without the gun?
Can you point me in the direction of mold kits for standard 5 foot kitchen countertops with a sink cutout? Do they exist? Love the channel and your work.
Thanks! Not that I know of....but they are very easy to make from melamine. all you need is a circular saw, jigsaw for the sink (the sink will come with a template), and drill/driver.
Love it! The only thing I would say is I’m not into the white pigment with the concrete sink because it just looks like porcelain which seems contradictory to why you’re using concrete in the first place
Nice video. For better, accurate symmetry for such an organic sink shape, I would have used layers of precut plywood (or even cardboard) glued and stacked on top of each other instead of the foam - then applied the compound on top of that. That said - you did a great job!
Nice job. For the puck marks and holes, slurry did the trick but I wonder if you could experiment with vibrating that first sprayed layer or putting it in a vacuum bag to remove any air bubbles. Maybe a simple solution like an SDS hammer drill and go around the form vibrating. Even if some concrete sags on the vertical surfaces during vibrating, it might mean you need to spray twice but then the first layer will be smoother maybe and any layers to follow bubbles will be not visible. I'm no expert on this but common air removal techniques might take the finish to the next level!
Thanks! If you vibrate it, you'll vibrate it right off the walls, completely. The problem wasn't bubbles in the face coat. The problem came on the second layer, when it pulled the first layer away from the walls, and vibrating can't help that. But, I always appreciate ideas so keep em coming 😀
You should also capture and reuse your farts when you decide to smell them. Your excessive fart smelling is going into nature and ruining our atmosphere.
This turned out better than I expected for the freehand shaping method. If you didn't have a concrete sprayer available for the surface coat, what other methods could you use to get a decent finish?
You could pour a huge solid block ;) for vertical surfaces like the walls on this, you really need to spray... However, in the grand scheme, the hopper gun i use is only $100 , and some folks have even had success modding a $30 harbor freight hopper gun with a 45 degree angle connector (about $5), and spraying with that.
I give you a tip: Put the silicone with the pistol, without touching it. Spray vetrix (or other window cleaner) all over it. Now you can remove the rest of the silicone with your fingers, it will not stick to the form and you will have just the necessary dose, the width of your first application of silicone with the pistol =)
Nice job adding all the foam microplastics to the environment! Just cutting and grinding the foam without a care in the world for where the dust and chips and going!!
Absolutely gorgeous! I need one for my bathroom, but only have space for a 27" counter/sink. I don't recall if you showed how you built the countertop to drop in the sink you created. I'll have to build myself.
I would like to make one of these but I have no foam . Quick question. Is it possible to use a CNC to cut on the concrete. Perhaps to make a hole to fill with resin. Great video and thanks for explaining all the steps.
This video was so long I had a birthday and went to a relatives funeral before the paid sponsor even came on the screen
Sorry for your loss, my condolences.
Do you have a very short attention span?
