I was wondering why you had to use the bottom side as the finished top? I want to do a smaller version of this for an outdoor rolling bar and storage cabinet. I was thinking about making a form like yours and finishing the topside .
Possibly. Also I got the seam because I flipped the slab. If you can get the top smooth enough without flipping it, that would eliminate the seam too. Or if the slab was 8 ft or less you wouldn't need the extension
Nice work! I made a concrete counter top for an outdoor bbq that was greater than 8 feet. I addressed the “seam” issue by segmenting the countertop to account for that.
I am planning on doing this when I get my kitchen remodeled since I am doing it myself but I wanted to ask, is there a way to add in stuff to make it look like marble?
Its gonna be difficult to get a marble finish with concrete but I would recommend looking into epoxy counter tops, you can get a very good marble finish with those.
Would sand topping mix be better for an exterior concrete countertop? I'm in the middle of my outdoor kitchen project. I'm ready to start buildthe countertop. I ordered quickrete countertop mix cement.
If you are asking why I flipped it, Its because the surface that was against the melamine is perfectly smooth right out of the mold. You could of course use either side as your "top", I just found this way to be easier.
It could, but not likely if you use the high density concrete, use the wire for reinforcement, and have a well supported base for it to sit on. It's not under any stress and will have minimal weight on it.
That's right it's called protesting. The more people that write comments about how TH-cam has been destroyed by overzealous advertising, the more pressure they will have to dial back the advertising.
TURNED OUT GREAT, WITH HELP FROM THE TINY SUPERVISOR OF COURSE!
Always!!
Great Job..! You couldn't have found a better helper - priceless.
Turned out super nice .! The little guy is big help !
A very good demonstration of DIY, that I believe all diyers can follow
Looks great. Great color, simple, not overly ornate and cost effective.
This was a great video. Thank you for explaining everything clearly. The final product looks great.
That's beautiful!!! Thanks for posting.
Very nice man, I think it came out great! Building one for my outdoor grilling needs, THANK YOU!
Amazing piece. Really compliments those cabinets.
Thanks
Muy buen trabajo y gran resultado. Pienso hacerme una encimera similar pero ya en su lugar definitivo. Me ha servido de gran ayuda. Un saludo desde 🇪🇦
This video was exactly what I was looking for, great job
Happy to help!
me too!
I concur.
You can use an orbital sander to vibrant the forms
Cool I need to try this and add a sink
How many people did it take to flip it and move it into place?
It looks great btw and I have used this to make my own worktop. Cheers buddy 👍🏻

@markriley24 you can do that, doing it like this is just and easy way to make the "top" so smooth
Looks great!!
Great job 👏🏼
Would a thin waterproof tape prevent the seem you ended up with?
Possibly. Also I got the seam because I flipped the slab. If you can get the top smooth enough without flipping it, that would eliminate the seam too. Or if the slab was 8 ft or less you wouldn't need the extension

You have to be careful you can also over vibrate
Genial, gran trabajo.....

How did you install the concrete slab to the actual bottom cabinets? A strong adhesive? Did I miss that in the video?
Construction adhesive
Looks good!
Nice job. Next time, charcoall your filler to match the color
Did you use any additives or just 5000 PSI mix with the added color?
No other additives
Thanks for the quick reply. How much water did you end up using per bag?
@libertyordeath3362 around 4-5 pint per 50lb bag
Should use sand topping mix.
I'll keep that in mind for next time!

Beautiful countertop, my guy. And thanks for the tutorial. I'm DEFINITELY gonna do this for my cabin. 👍🏽
Those holes come by over vibrate
How much did it weigh?
About 350-400lb
CALIDAD DE TRABAJO SALUDOS
Nice
Does your concrete have aggregate or its just a sand mix? Thanks mate 😊👍
It has aggregate in it
you trying to hide behind the line makes it more obvious lol but great job you give me a great start to my own project.
I didn't try to hide it lol, I pointed it out and gave a nice closeup showing it! Thanks for watching

Why not use the bottom part?

Bare hands with concrete?
Can’t it crack tho?
It could, but not likely if you use the high density concrete, use the wire for reinforcement, and have a well supported base for it to sit on. It's not under any stress and will have minimal weight on it.
Good video, good outcome, crappy music
Wow 30 seconds of forced ads? Would have loved to watch the video too bad TH-cam sucks now.
But you had time to write a whole comment 🤡

Ok
Conctete countertops have no place indoors
@edp2506 lol why?
Yawn..of course they do ,especially if clients want them.
👍🌹🇨🇷
Yeah nah. That joint looks crap. You had a grinding disc...you should have used it. At least you showed your mistakes so others won't do that
Hit the top with grout that might look tight
Why not float the top while it's wet and put bullnose on it? Then you don't have that line. Also acid stain it bro but you gave me good ideas though
