I couldn't get over how inferior Madden 2005's player models.. They just looked so cartoonish and goofy! 2K5's player models looked so much more realistic, especially for its time.
2K should not of been erased from football games along with other companies because of EA's contract with Madden. Competition is good for gaming companies because it means they have to work hard to get good games out there and not just settle for mediocre.
The NFL got pissed that 2k only charged $20 for the game instead of the normal $50. The NFL considers itself a luxury brand and didn't like 2k undercharging for the game which cut into the NFL's percentage of the game
Fk the nfl. Maybe if they say there and played the game they would have realized it was a good game. To this day I bet they still don’t pay attention to what a good game is. Them giving EA the license definitely killed off the arcade friendly NFL Blitz. the day they bought the license I wrecked havoc in the ea forums and created the 2k vs ea forum back then. This to this day is the worst thing to happen to gaming. I haven’t played a football game in so long it actually killed my interest in actual NFL. Pisses me off whenever I think of it
I remember I went to Best Buy to get Madden but came across 2k. I ended up getting 2k AND a music CD LOL. I logged too many hours with 2k. Still a great game.

It was considered better than Madden when it came out. The reason EA got exclusivity rights was because NFL didn't want the game selling for 19.99. So they took the rights away from NFL2K. NFL2k has always been considered the superior product, not sure what sword you think you are falling on.
Here was the problem, because I have played and owned almost every football game dating back to the beginning. 2k was just a boring and robotic series. 2k5 was better than the previous versions, but it wasn't nearly as fun as Madden. Presentation was great on 2k5, but the simulator was just broken. The stats and scores didn't reflect an NFL experience.

I would give madden 05 a solid 9 and 2k5 an 8.5. To me Madden's physics were better and the how OL/DL engaged more in Madden. For example what was #78 on offense doing @7:35-7:38. Stuff like this would happen multiple times per game.

However, nowadays the NFL appears to take ideas from competitors more and that goes for video games and the sport itself. That's why I did the comparison of Madden 05 (one of the popular games from Madden) and NFL 2k5 (which is more realistic.

@@48hourrecordsteam45 considering this is an older video and at the time I did this I had the mindset of same year same sport different gaming company, I can see why this is not a good comparison today. However, every time there's a competitor of the NFL in the sport and/or gaming the NFL takes ideas of their competitors.

Well I played both and I enjoyed 2K better. It is a shame that it was a business decision to monopolize NFL game creation to one company
I would also mention the gameplay. Gameplay was much better and still is.

To be fair, even if 2k held onto the nfl license, it would’ve been just as bad. Look at nba2k.
2K in their later years fell apart in quality. That's one reason they stopped making baseball games

2k5 has more presentations. Sadly after that Madden has more roster updated unless you get mods for 2k5
